Uses a Markov process to model a real-time expert system architecture characterized by message passing and event-driven scheduling. The model is applied to the performance evaluation of rule grouping for real-time expert systems running on this architecture. An optimizing algorithm based on Kernighan-Lin heuristic graph partitioning for the real-time architecture is developed and a demonstration system based on the model and algorithm has been developed and tested on a portion of the advanced GPS receiver (AGR) and manned manoeuvring unit (MMU) knowledge bases  相似文献

A variety of morphological types of dentate gyrus/hilus interneurons have been described, but little is known about their corresponding physiological characteristics. To address this issue, intracellular responses to current injection and perforant path stimulation were obtained from putative dentate interneurons in anaesthetized adult gerbils. Our sample of interneurons showed heterogeneity in their intrinsic physiological characteristics and spike thresholds to perforant path stimulation, suggesting the existence of distinct physiologically-defined classes. 'Fast-spiking' interneurons had a low threshold to perforant path stimulation, whereas 'slow-spiking' interneurons responded with predominantly inhibitory potentials. In several cases, cells were intracellularly labelled with biocytin for visualization. Interneurons with different physiological traits had distinct morphological features. These results confirm that, as in hippocampus proper, morphologically identifiable interneurons in the dentate hilus show electrophysiological features that are likely to reflect functionally specific roles in informational processing.  相似文献

The executive attention theory of working memory capacity (WMC) proposes that measures of WMC broadly predict higher order cognitive abilities because they tap important and general attention capabilities (R. W. Engle & M. J. Kane, 2004). Previous research demonstrated WMC-related differences in attention tasks that required restraint of habitual responses or constraint of conscious focus. To further specify the executive attention construct, the present experiments sought boundary conditions of the WMC-attention relation. Three experiments correlated individual differences in WMC, as measured by complex span tasks, and executive control of visual search. In feature-absence search, conjunction search, and spatial configuration search, WMC was unrelated to search slopes, although they were large and reliably measured. Even in a search task designed to require the volitional movement of attention (J. M. Wolfe, G. A. Alvarez, & T. S. Horowitz, 2000), WMC was irrelevant to performance. Thus, WMC is not associated with all demanding or controlled attention processes, which poses problems for some general theories of WMC. In this paper, we have described the importance of single-wafer processing (SWP) in semiconductor manufacturing. As compared to batch processing, reduced cycle time, better control of surface and interface properties, and reduced defect densities are some of the attractive features of SWP. We have provided the example of new SWP tools that have the answers to address virtually all process integration issues in dealing with new materials as well as conventional materials in ultra small dimensions. Driven by reduced I/O pitches, and emergence of system-on-chip, system-in-package or system-on-package as the driver of semiconductor growth, SWP tools have started to play an important role in the surface cleaning in IC assembly and packaging. Global acceptance of SWP in manufacturing can address the supply chain problem of the semiconductor industry.  相似文献

A technique for fabricating many different wavelength lasers on the same wafer has been developed. High energy ion implantation was used to selectively blue shift the emission wavelength of an InP-based quantum well laser structure. This structure was then processed into fully functional broad-area lasers whose current threshold was unaffected by the implantation process, indicating extremely high material quality after bandgap-shifting. This process has the potential for the integration of not only different wavelength lasers, but also other devices, such as waveguides, detectors, modulators, etc., on a single wafer.  相似文献

A Monte-Carlo reliability simulator for integrated circuits (IC) that incorporates the effects of process flaws, material properties, the mask layout, and use conditions is presented. The mask layout is decomposed into distinct objects, such as contiguous metal runs, vias, contacts, and gate-oxides, for which user-defined distributions are used for determining the failure probability. These distributions are represented by a mixture of defect-related and wearout-related distributions. The failure distributions for nets (sets of interconnected layout objects) are obtained by combining the distributions of their component objects. System reliability is obtained by applying control variate sampling to the logic network which is comprised of all nets. The effects of k-out-of-n substructures within the reliability network are accounted for. The methodology is illustrated by the effect of particulate-induced defects on metal runs and vias in a simple test circuit. The results qualitatively verify the methodology and show that predictions which incorporate failures due to process flaws are appreciably more pessimistic than those obtained from current practice  相似文献

We report the fabrication and characterization of wide-band Fabry-Perot-like resonators in optical fiber. Using Bragg gratings with variable detuning, resonators that operate ever a wavelength span in excess of 140 nm have been produced, with free spectral ranges between 0.09 nm and 11.27 nm. Numerical and experimental results for two typical resonators are presented, showing good agreement between the two  相似文献

HLA and gene frequencies are presented for a Polynesian population-the Western Samoans. Within the HLA-A locus A2, A9 and A11 have the highest frequencies and account for 55% of the alleles in this locus. The alleles BW22 and BW40 had the highest frequencies in the HLA-B locus and accounted for 51% of the alleles. The blank gene frequencies for the HLA-A and B loci are .382 and .373 respectively. Significant linkage disequilibrium was found with the haplotypes A1,B7; A3,B7;A2, BW40; A9, BW40 A9, BW22. The most frequent haplotype was A2,BW40. Comparatively low values within this population and between this and other Polynesian populations are discussed in terms of selection, migration and drift.  相似文献
