We cloned the murine full-length cDNA encoding Ahch, the mouse homologue of DAX1 (DSS-AHC Region on Human X Chromosome, Gene1) which is the gene responsible for human X-linked adrenal hypoplasia congenita (AHC) and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (HH). Sequence analysis revealed that the murine and human cDNAs have 65% aa identity and 75% aa similarity overall. The cysteine residues in the putative DNA binding domain, which may interact with Zn2+ ions to form zinc fingers, are 100% conserved between the two species, indicating that the novel zinc-finger structures in DAX1 may be functional. In addition, mouse interspecific backcrosses show that the Ahch gene is closely linked to the glycerol kinase locus, GyK, on the mouse X chromosome, indicating that the order of the loci is conserved in this syntenic region between mouse and human.  相似文献

Mechanical Behavior of Several Hybrid Ceramic-Matrix-Composite Laminates   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Several different hybrid laminated composites comprised of alternating layers of dense ceramic sheets (either SiC or Si3N4) and fiber-reinforced ceramic-matrix-composite (CMC) layers (Nicalon fibers with either glass or glass-ceramic matrices) have been fabricated and characterized. The effects of the reinforcement architecture (unidirectional vs cross-ply) and the relative volume fractions of the phases on the tensile and flexural properties have been examined. Comparisons have been made with the properties of the constituent layers. Rudimentary models have been developed to describe the onset of cracking and for the minimum volume fraction of CMC required to develop multiple cracks and thus obtain a high failure strain.  相似文献

This paper presents optimization models for selecting a subset of software libraries, viz, collections of programs, residing on floppy disks or compact disks, available on the market. Each library contains a variety of programs whose reliabilities are assumed to be known. The objective is to maximize the reliability of the computer system subject to a budget constraint on the total cost of the libraries selected. The paper includes six models, each of which applies to a different software structure and assumptions. A detailed branch and bound algorithm for solving one of the six models is described; it contains a simple greedy-procedure for generating an initial solution  相似文献

A series of [(2-nitro-1-alkenyl)aryloxy]acetic acids was synthesized and tested in dogs for saluretic and diuretic activity. A number of these compounds exhibit a high order of activity on iv or po administration; representative of these is (E)-[2,3-dichloro-4-(2-nitropropenyl)phenoxy]acetic acid (5). The most highly active compounds are qualitatively similar in action to [2,3-dichloro-4-(2-methylenebutyryl)phenoxylacetic acid (ethacrynic acid) in causing a prompt increase in the excretion of water and of sodium and chloride ions in approximately equimolar amounts but are three to five times as potent. Potassium ion excretion is increased but less markedly than sodium excretion.  相似文献

Osmotically hemolysed pigeon erythrocytes retain a considerable part of the total cell content of aldolase activity. After washing off the ghosts from hemoglobin and removing the nuclei, a considerable portion of aldolase activity is found in the supernatant. The retained part of aldolase is rather firmly bound to plasma membranes (PM), as evidenced by the fact, that double washing with a mixture of 0.3 M sucrose, 0.01 M tris-HCl (pH 7.4) and 0.004 M MgCL2, or with 0.15 M NaCl or H2O does not appreciably decrease the aldolase activity of PM. Only washing of PM with 0.5 M NaCl results in appreciable decrease of aldolase retention by PM. The binding of aldolase proved to be temperature sensitive: after heating the binding of aldolase to PM specifically decreased. These data suggest that the interaction of the enzyme with PM of pigeon erythrocytes occurs in the intact cell and may be of physiological significance.  相似文献

This study compared noninvasive preoperative functional imaging by using magnetoencephalography (MEG) with intraoperative direct cortical stimulation in ten patients undergoing neurosurgery. The goal was to assess the accuracy and reliability of MEG-based functional imaging in these patients as a possible replacement or adjunct for direct cortical stimulation with electrocorticography. Objective comparison of intraoperative mapping with preoperative MEG procedures was achieved by intraoperative recording of mapped cortical locations for motor responses using an interactive image-guided surgical device, the ISG viewing wand, with which mapping points could be marked on a previously acquired (MRI) set. In all ten patients, at least one stimulation site elicited a response during both MEG and intraoperative mapping. The central sulcus ipsilateral to the lesion was only directly visible on high-resolution MRIs in 3/10 cases and equivocally in 2/10. Coregistered with MRI to form magnetic source images (MSIs), MEG predictions of the postcentral gyrus were possible in all 10 cases. In all 10 cases, these were in agreement with intraoperative estimation of the precentral gyrus. Functional mapping of somatosensory cortex was achieved noninvasively in surgical patients by using MSI. The accuracy, compared with cortical stimulation, was always sufficient to define motor and somatosensory strips.  相似文献

Age comparisons of survival in cancer cohorts generally utilize relative survival rates, which are based on indicators of the probability of survival for a given number of years after diagnosis. Cancer relative survival rates for the same number of years tend to decline as age at diagnosis increases. However, the same number of years of survival reflects higher relative longevity at older ages than at younger ages. The realized probability of dying (RPD) is a survival measure that expresses individual survival time after diagnosis relative to the survival distribution of an age-, race-, and sex-specific reference population, in effect weighing individual survival time more heavily as age at diagnosis increases. The purpose of this study was to apply the RPD as a survival measure in cancer epidemiology. Two cohorts of cancer patients, white males with prostate cancer and white females with breast cancer, aged 55 years and over at diagnosis, were followed for 15 years. Although older subjects survived less time after diagnosis than younger subjects, they achieved more favorable RPD values. We present survival analysis methods for analyzing the RPD in this population, an approach not previously used with this measure. The implications for use of the RPD in cancer epidemiology are discussed.  相似文献

Al2O3-TiC, Al2O3-TiC0.5N0.5, Al2O3-WC, Al2O3-SiC, and Al2O3-HfB2 powders were synthesized by the aluminothermic reduction of oxides in the presence of carbon or boron. The reacted powders were milled to reduce the size of agglomerates and subsequently densified without applied pressure to near-theoretical density. Microstructures and mechanical properties of composites made from exothermically reacted powders were compared with similar ceramics made from commercially available powders. In situ sintering was possible in the Al2O3-TiC system using a closed graphite crucible to contain reaction gases. The synthesis of β -SiC at temperatures above 1400°C via the direct reaction of the elements (SHS) was compared with SiC made by the magnesiothermic reduction of SiO2 in the presence of C after removing the MgO by leaching.  相似文献
