Polyolefins functionalized with diethylmaleate were mixed with poly(vinylchloride) (PVC) in different compositions. Intermolecular interactions involving the carbonyl groups of the side chains of the functionalized polyolefins and methine hydrogens of PVC were investigated by means of infrared spectroscopy. The major flexibility of the ester groups attached to the backbone chains, with respect to polyesters, seems to increase the capability of such groups to interact with groups of more polar polymers, thus allowing prediction of easier miscibility, which however also depends on the starting polyolefin structure and function-alization degree.  相似文献

Electrical resistivity measurements and scanning electron microscopy was used to study the dissolution of silver on Cu-Ag and Cu-Al-Ag alloys. The results seem to indicate that the dissolution temperature is affected by the addition of aluminium.  相似文献

By using the X-ray diffraction profile-fitting technique, the microstructures of Sm, Mn-modified PbTiO3 piezoelectric ceramic discs, including ferroelectric domain sizes, microstrains, and their variations with the poling strength have been quantitatively investigated. The results manifest that the modified PbTiO3 ceramics contain a high density of domain walls due to the presence of finely-divided coherent domain structures (tens of nanometres in dimension). The poling treament can evidently influence the domain-size distribution, with a more homogeneous microstructure being developed; however, it simultaneously causes high anisotropic microstrains within the structure which, together with the high density of domain walls, is expected to be responsible for the unusual high electromechanical coupling properties possessed by this material.  相似文献

The thermal evolution of glass fibres of the SiO2-Li2O-TiO2-Al2O3 system has been investigated by X-ray diffraction, DTA and SEM. Within the range of the compositions investigated (2 to 10 mol % TiO2) SEM and SAXS measurements on bulk materials have shown that a small addition of Al2O3 (3 mol %) does not modify the limits of the immiscibility region present in the ternary system SiO2-LiO2-TiO2. Within this region TiO2-rich droplets are more than likely to be formed. As to tensile strength, the asquenched fibres of the composition placed within the immiscibility dome give higher values than that obtained outside the liquid-liquid region and these values are higher than those measured on E-glass fibres. A slight crystallization in all the fibres leads to a continuous decrease of the initial tensile strength. With regards to the crystal phases presented by the crystallized fibres, the first exothermic peak is due to the simultaneous crystallization of-quartz (ss) and lithium disilicate whereas the second peak is due, most probably, to a-quartz (ss) -spodumene (ss) phase transformation as well as to the formation of Li2TiSiO5. The path of crystallization of the other detected Ti-compounds is similar to that proposed by Furukawa and White.  相似文献

In pyritic environments, the bacteriaThiobacillus ferrooxidans catalyze acid formation by increasing the oxidation rate of pyrite by a factor of one million. This acid solubilizes metals and pollutes adjacent streams and lands. Bactericide sprays during mining and waste disposal operations attack the source of the problem by preventing acid formation and metals solubilization. Used in conjunction with current water treatment systems, bactericides can dramatically reduce operating costs. Controlled release bactericides contribute to successful reclamation by providing assurance against revegetation failure and post-reclamation water quality problems that can necessitate perpetual water treatment. While inhibitingT. ferrooxidans these organic compounds aid in the establishment of beneficial heterotrophic bacteria which support vegetation. These conditions continue to persist after the bactericide is depleted from the controlled release system. Case Studies I and II show that bactericides inhibit acid generation during hard rock and coal mining operations and they are cost effective. Case Studies III and IV illustrate the improvement in water quality and vegetation after reclamation when controlled release bactericides were used. Economic analyses show cost benefits are achieved when controlled-release bactericides are part of the reclamation plan.  相似文献

This paper investigates the ability of a single wireless inertial sensing device stuck on the lower trunk to provide spatial-temporal parameters during level walking. The 3-axial acceleration signals were filtered and the timing of the main gait events identified. Twenty-two healthy subjects were analyzed with this system for validation, and the estimated parameters were compared with those obtained with state-of-the-art gait analysis, i.e. stereophotogrammetry and dynamometry. For each side, from four to six gait cycles were measured with the device, of which two were validated by gait analysis. The new acquisition system is easy to use and does not interfere with regular walking. No statistically significant differences were found between the acceleration-based measurements and the corresponding ones from gait analysis for most of the spatial-temporal parameters, i.e. stride length, stride duration, cadence and speed, etc.; significant differences were found for the gait cycle phases, i.e. single and double support duration, etc. The system therefore shows promise also for a future routine clinical use.  相似文献

In this paper, we illustrate the design and testing of new silicon microstructures, fabricated by means of a conventional planar process. These "Venetian-blind" structures consist of arrays of narrow, rectangular suspended masses (width =31 /spl mu/m, length =400 /spl mu/m, thickness =15 /spl mu/m), which can be tilted using electrostatic actuation. Characterization of their static and dynamic behavior was performed with optical methods. The diffraction patterns in monochromatic light were analyzed and vibration measurements were performed by means of semiconductor laser feedback interferometry: experimental data on the tilt angle as a function of the applied voltage and on the resonance frequencies are reported. A maximum tilt angle of approximately 1.9/spl deg/ was obtained with a driving voltage in the range of 70-95 V. All the tested devices showed resonance frequencies higher than 80 kHz, which is fast enough (i.e., switching time in the millisecond range) for future use in optical interconnections. Numerical analyses were performed to evaluate the coupled electromechanical behavior of the microstructures, confirming the observed experimental behavior.  相似文献

In the present study we have examined the ability of the beta-amyloid peptide (A beta(25-35)) to modulate the respiratory burst activity of human monocytes in vitro. Incubation of the cells for 24 h with A beta(25-35) as well as with A beta(1-42) resulted in an enhanced production of reactive oxygen radicals (ROI) in response to phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA). Such effect was additively increased by coincubation with interferon-gamma (IFN gamma), and was paralleled by modulation of gene and protein expression of some components of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase system. Since the effects of A beta(25-35) were also reproduced in primary rat microglia, our findings indicate that A beta(25-35) can potentiate the ability of mononuclear phagocytes to produce ROI, and add further insights into its biological effects.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Pancreas transplants are still associated with the highest surgical complication rate of all routinely performed solid organ transplants. To date, the impact of serious surgical complications in the cyclosporine era on perioperative patient morbidity, graft and patient survival, and hospital costs has not been analyzed in detail. STUDY DESIGN: We retrospectively studied surgical complications after 445 consecutive pancreas transplants (45% simultaneous pancreas-kidney [SPK], 24% pancreas after kidney [PAK], and 31% pancreas transplant alone [PTA]). Of these, 80% were primary transplants, 20% were retransplants. Cadaver donors were used in 92%, living related donors in 8%. To develop guidelines for their prevention and management, we studied the impact of significant surgical complications (intra-abdominal infections, vascular graft thrombosis, and anastomotic leak) requiring relaparotomy on graft and patient survival. RESULTS: Relaparotomy was required after 32% of all pancreas transplants (SPK: 36%, PAK: 25%, PTA: 16% [p = 0.04]). Perioperative mortality was 9%. Graft and patient survival rates were significantly lower for recipients with (versus without) relaparotomy. The most common procedures were drainage of intra-abdominal abscess with graft necrosectomy (50% of all relaparotomies) and transplant pancreatectomy (34%). The most common causes of relaparotomy were intra-abdominal infection, vascular graft thrombosis, and anastomotic leak. Intra-abdominal infection occurred in 20% (SPK: 18%, PAK: 24%, PTA: 20% [p = NS]). The rate was significantly higher for living related donor (42%) versus cadaver donor (18%) recipients and for those with enteric-drained (39%) versus bladder-drained (18%) transplants. Graft and patient survival rates were significantly lower for recipients with (versus without) intra-abdominal infection. Outcome was better after bacterial (versus fungal) infections. For SPK recipients, those not on dialysis before the transplant had significantly higher graft survival than those on dialysis. Vascular graft thrombosis occurred in 12% of all recipients. The rate was significantly higher for PAK (21%) than for PTA (10%) and SPK (9%) recipients. It was significantly lower for recipients of grafts with donor iliac Y-graft reconstruction (versus all other types of arterial reconstruction) and with right-sided (versus left-sided) graft placement. Of note, patient survival was not different for recipients with versus without vascular graft thrombosis. The incidence of anastomotic or duodenal stump leaks was 10%; of these recipients, 70% required relaparotomy. Patient and graft survival rates were no different for recipients with versus without leaks. CONCLUSIONS: Serious surgical complications occurred in 35% of pancreas recipients and had a significant impact on patient and graft survival. Based on multivariate risk factor analyses, we recommend the following: donors over 45 years and those dying of cerebrocardiovascular disease should not be used; recipients over 45 years and those with a history of cardiac disease should be considered for a kidney transplant alone (KTA); surgical technique for graft procurement, preparation, and implantation should be meticulous; right-sided implantation and arterial Y-graft reconstruction should be performed when possible, since they had the highest success rates; when complications require relaparotomy, the focus must switch from graft salvage to life preservation; and the threshold for pancreatectomy should be low. Diagnosis should be timely, and treatment and relaparotomy expeditious. These cornerstones of success should help decrease the risk of surgical complications and mortality after pancreas transplants.  相似文献
