A semi-empirical non-isothermal model incorporating coupled momentum, heat and mass transport phenomena for predicting the performance of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolysis cell operating without flow channels is presented. Model input parameters such as electro-kinetics properties and mean pore size of the porous transport layer (PTL) were determined by rotating disc electrode and capillary flow porometry, respectively. This is the first report of a semi-empirical fully coupled model which allows one to quantify and investigate the effect of the gas phase and bubble coverage on PEM cell performance up to very high current densities of about 5 A/cm2. The mass transport effects are discussed in terms of the operating conditions, design parameters and the microstructure of the PTL. The results show that, the operating temperature and pressure, and the inlet water flowrate and thickness of the PTL are the critical parameters for mitigating mass transport limitation at high current densities. The model presented here can serve as a tool for further development and scale-up effort in the area of PEM water electrolysis, and provide insight during the design stage. 相似文献

Favorable properties of aqueous solutions are improved with the addition of different materials for separation of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Also, equilibrium data and available equations for solubility estimation of this gas are only valid for specific solutions and limited ranges of temperature and pressure. In this regard, a machine learning model based on Support vector machine (SVM) algorithm is proposed and developed with mixtures containing different amines and ionic liquids to predict H2S solubility over wide ranges of temperature (298–434.5 K), pressure (13–9319 kPa), overall mass concentration (3.82–100%) and mixture's apparent molecular weight (18.39–556.17 g/mol). The accuracy of the performance of this network was evaluated by regression analysis on calculated and experimental data, which had not been used in network training. 相似文献
This paper presents an approach for monitoring the execution progress of business processes. The monitoring focuses on the exceptions that could arise during this execution and, hence, could make the processes fail if not handled properly and timely. The approach relies on three flows known as control, communication, and navigation. The control flow connects tasks together with respect to a certain business logic. The communication flow captures the messages exchanged between persons/machines when they perform tasks of processes. Finally, the navigation flow captures the interactions between specialized networks that offer solutions to exceptions. These networks are built upon relations between tasks, between persons, and between machines. The coordination of control, communication, and navigation flows focuses on both the actions that are taken and the messages that are exchanged when handling exceptions. A system demonstrating flow development and coordination is, also, presented in the paper. 相似文献
Knowledge of the effective thermal diffusivity changes of systems undergoing reactions where heat transfer plays an important role in the reaction kinetics is essential for process understanding and control. Carbothermic reduction process of magnetite containing composites is a typical example of such systems. The reduction process in this case is highly endothermic and hence, the overall rate of the reaction is greatly influenced by the heat transfer through composite compact. Using Laser-Flash method, the change of effective thermal diffusivity of magnetite-graphite composite pellet was monitored in the dynamic mode over a pre-defined thermal cycle (heating at the rate of 7 K/min to 1423 K (1150 °C), holding the sample for 270 minutes at this temperature and then cooling it down to the room temperature at the same rate as heating). These measurements were supplemented by Thermogravimetric Analysis under comparable experimental conditions as well as quenching tests of the samples in order to combine the impact of various factors such as sample dilatations and changes in apparent density on the progress of the reaction. The present results show that monitoring thermal diffusivity changes during the course of reduction would be a very useful tool in a total understanding of the underlying physicochemical phenomena. At the end, effort is made to estimate the apparent thermal conductivity values based on the measured thermal diffusivity and dilatations. 相似文献
Ferroelectricity in finite-dimensional systems continues to arouse interest, motivated by predictions of vortex polarization states and the utility of ferroelectric nanomaterials in memory devices, actuators and other applications. Critical to these areas of research are the nanoscale polarization structure and scaling limit of ferroelectric order, which are determined here in individual nanocrystals comprising a single ferroelectric domain. Maps of ferroelectric structural distortions obtained from aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy, combined with holographic polarization imaging, indicate the persistence of a linearly ordered and monodomain polarization state at nanometre dimensions. Room-temperature polarization switching is demonstrated down to ~5?nm dimensions. Ferroelectric coherence is facilitated in part by control of particle morphology, which along with electrostatic boundary conditions is found to determine the spatial extent of cooperative ferroelectric distortions. This work points the way to multi-Tbit/in(2) memories and provides a glimpse of the structural and electrical manifestations of ferroelectricity down to its ultimate limits. 相似文献
A set of physical constants for In0.53Ga0.47As as required for transport calculations is obtained by reviewing the literature. Velocities for fields up to 100 kV/cm, calculated by the Monte Carlo method using these constants, are presented for the temperatures of 95 and 300 K. The calculated values are found to be in good agreement with the available experimental results. 相似文献
Objective: To develop an oral sustained release formulation of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) for once-daily dosing, using chitosan-coated polylactic acid (PLA) or poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) nanoparticles. The role of polymer molecular weight (MW) and drug to polymer ratio in encapsulation efficiency (EE) and release from the nanoparticles was explored in vitro.
Methods: Nanoparticles were prepared by a single emulsion solvent evaporation method where MMF was encapsulated with PLGA or PLA at various polymer MW and drug: polymer ratios. Subsequently, chitosan was added to create coated cationic particles, also at several chitosan MW grades and drug: polymer ratios. All the formulations were evaluated for mean diameter and polydispersity, EE as well as in vitro drug release. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), surface morphology, and in vitro mucin binding of the nanoparticles were performed for further characterization.
Results: Two lead formulations comprise MMF: high MW, PLA: medium MW chitosan 1:7:7 (w/w/w), and MMF: high MW, PLGA: high MW chitosan 1:7:7 (w/w/w), which had high EE (94.34% and 75.44%, respectively) and sustained drug release over 12?h with a minimal burst phase. DSC experiments revealed an amorphous form of MMF in the nanoparticle formulations. The surface morphology of the MMF NP showed spherical nanoparticles with minimal visible porosity. The potential for mucoadhesiveness was assessed by changes in zeta potential after incubation of the nanoparticles in mucin.
Conclusion: Two chitosan-coated nanoparticles formulations of MMF had high EE and a desirable sustained drug release profile in the effort to design a once-daily dosage form for MMF. 相似文献
