The semantic networks of 13 patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), 13 patients with Huntington's disease (HD), 8 amnesic (AM) patients, and 26 controls were generated by multidimensional scaling and Pathfinder analyses of their responses on a triadic comparison task. The semantic networks of HD and AM patients were essentially normal, whereas the networks of AD patients were deviant in a number of ways. The AD patients' networks were dominated by a different dimension, had fewer common links, and consisted of associations of atypical strength. These results suggest that structural alteration of semantic networks is characteristic of Alzheimer's disease and is not evident in all forms of dementia and amnesic conditions. Kelly's (1955) working hypotheses known as personal constructs. 18 paragraphs depicting different consultation scenarios were used to elicit Ss' personal constructs. Each scenario represented a different combination of child behavior, teacher hypothesis, and teacher involvement. A culturally adapted Chinese version of the Information-Memory-Concentration test (CIMC) by G. Blessed et al (1968) was used in a dementia screening survey of a probability sample of 5,055 elderly Shanghai residents. The individual items on the CIMC that best predicted the overall score were similar to the best predictor of an American version of the IMC. Performance on the CIMC was markedly affected by the level of education or lack thereof. In a subsample for whom clinical diagnoses were obtained, it was possible to establish cutoff values on the CIMC by stratifying the sample according to education. Previous research suggests that patients with Alzheimer's disease exhibit cognitive impairment in the years preceding a clinical diagnosis. Memory impairments are particularly pronounced, but the relative degree to which other cognitive functions are impaired and the speed with which they decline during the preclinical years remains unclear. The authors report a detailed neuropsychological evaluation of 11 patients over the course of 3 years up to and including the 1st year of nonnormal diagnosis. The results suggest that performance falls off rapidly in all areas of cognitive functioning but that abilities thought to be subserved by the medial and lateral temporal lobes (episodic and semantic memory, respectively) appear to be substantially more impaired than those abilities thought to be subserved by the frontal lobes. Aromatization of testosterone (T) to estradiol (E2) during perinatal development in male rodents plays a significant role in sexual differentiation of the brain and adult behaviors. Exposure to estrogens during development can enhance masculine behaviors in adult females and reduce expression of female-typical behaviors in adult males. Previous studies have shown that, in addition to naturally occurring estrogens, dietary phytoestrogens can affect sexual differentiation. To distinguish between the effects of endogenous T-derived E2 and exogenous phytoestrogens, the authors used an aromatase knockout (ArKO) mouse that cannot produce E2 but is responsive to E2 via estrogen receptors α and β. Dams and their litters were maintained either on a standard mouse chow that was rich in phytoestrogens or on a chow nearly devoid of phytoestrogens. Mice were maintained on their perinatal diets after weaning. Adults of both sexes were gonadectomized and tested for lordosis behavior. In the ArKO females raised on a diet high in phytoestrogens, lordosis was reduced in comparison with females of both genotypes on the low phytoestrogen diet. Realization of reduced ionic (cationic and anionic) defects at the surface and grain boundaries (GBs) of perovskite films is vital to boost the power conversion efficiency of organic–inorganic halide perovskite (OIHP) solar cells. Although numerous strategies have been developed, effective passivation still remains a great challenge due to the complexity and diversity of these defects. Herein, a solid-state interdiffusion process using multi-cation hybrid halide perovskite quantum dots (QDs) is introduced as a strategy to heal the ionic defects at the surface and GBs. It is found that the solid-state interdiffusion process leads to a reduction in OIHP shallow defects. In addition, Cs+ distribution in QDs greatly influences the effectiveness of ionic defect passivation with significant enhancement to all photovoltaic performance characteristics observed on treating the solar cells with Cs0.05(MA0.17FA0.83)0.95PbBr3 (abbreviated as QDs-Cs5). This enables power conversion efficiency (PCE) exceeding 21% to be achieved with more than 90% of its initial PCE retained on exposure to continuous illumination of more than 550 h. 相似文献

Reconstruction of thick, embedded, sectioned material has to cope with the restricted tilt view of the electron microscope, with information not stemming from the object of interest in the projections, with aberrations of the objective lens and with a distorted relationship between the projected densities in the micrographs and the specimen mass densities due to incoherent electron interactions within the specimen. Micrograph densities over a full tilt-range show in general an averaged mass increase which is more than should be expected from the cosine dependency of the tilt-angles of the projections. The hereby presented reconstruction technique finds a solution for the under-determined system by a controlled algebraic iteration procedure. For this solution the procedure stabilises the region of interest by dynamically scaling the input data during the procedure. [FeII(Htrz)2(trz)](BF4) spin crossover particles of 85 nm mean size are dispersed in an SU‐8 polymer matrix and spray‐coated onto silicon microcantilevers. The subsequent photothermal treatment of the polymer resist leads to micrometer thick, smooth, and homogeneous coatings, which exhibit well‐reproducible actuation upon the thermally induced spin transition. The actuation amplitude as a function of temperature is accurately determined by combining integrated piezoresistive detection with external optical interferometry, which allows for the assessment of the associated actuation force (9.4 mN), stress (28 MPa), strain (1.0%), and work density (140 mJ cm?3) through a stratified beam model. The dynamical mechanical characterization of the films evidences an increase of the resonance frequency and a concomitant decrease of the damping in the high‐temperature phase, which arises due to a combined effect of the thickness and mechanical property changes. The spray‐coating approach is also successfully extended to scale up the actuators for the centimeter range on a polymer substrate providing perspectives for biomimetic soft actuators. 相似文献
