In the last few years, the recent regulations of the Energy and Environment Policy of the European Union (EU) Energy Policy, together with the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) have been aiming to increase the integration of renewable resources, and in particular of biogas, into the EU energy system thanks to the adoption of new tools for their promotion. The production of biogas from animal waste, both on a European and national level, still represents only a small percentage of the total amount deriving from anaerobic digestion of organic matter. In this context, it was deemed opportune to evaluate the state of the art in the use of biogas in Italy and its production potential, with regard to animal sewage, in the light of the current technical-economic and legislative obstacles. 相似文献

Reliability of water distribution networks (WDNs) has received much attention in recent years due to progressive aging of infrastructures and climate change. Several reliability indicators, focusing on hydraulic aspects rather than water quality, have been proposed in literature. Reliability is generally assessed resorting to well established methods coupling hydraulic simulations and stochastic techniques that describe the WDNs hydraulic performance and component availability respectively. Two main algorithms are employed to simulate WDNs: the demand driven approach (DDA) that disregards the physical relationship between actual water demand and nodal pressure, and the pressure driven approach (PDA) that explicitly incorporates it. In this paper, we show how the choice of hydraulic solver may affect reliability indicators. We modify existing quantitative indicators at nodal and network level, and define novel indicators to consider water quality aspects. These indicators are evaluated for three example WDNs; discrepancies between results obtained with the two approaches depend on network size, feeding scheme and skeletonization. Results suggest to use with caution the DDA for reliability assessment at both local and global level. 相似文献

The quantification of soil variability is one of the most important aspects in the geo-engineering context. The uncertainty analysis is the main part of the reliability assessment for which a quantitative evaluation was performed in this study. The Reliability Index and the Probability of Failure using the First-Order Reliability Method (FORM) represents both, an effective method which is easy to implement at the same time. This work analyzes possible effects of compaction induced into the aquifer of the Scarlino Plain, caused by the extension of the hydraulic barrier for groundwater remediation. The currently implemented vertical barrier is composed of 12 wells which reach the depth of 10 m. The improvement of the project involves the construction of a further 40 clusters, each consisting of a doublet which intercepts different depths (10 and 18 m). The models of the subsoil stratigraphy and of the groundwater were built using a numerical model. The groundwater flow and the piezometric surface in the current configuration of the barrier were studied and the project configuration was evaluated. Using the Aquitard drainage model, the land subsidence was estimated to calculate the maximum admissible displacement related to exhibited goods, the so called territorial vulnerability. The evaluation analysis was performed using a traditional deterministic approach, followed by a reliability method based on probabilistic models. The goal is to evaluate the neutronic behavior when (Pu–U) and (Am–Pu–U) mixed oxide are inserted in a typical cell of a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) such as Angra-I. Four types of fuels were studied: (1) MOX fuel enriched at 3.1% and Vm/Vf = 1.15; (2) MOX fuel enriched at 4.5% and Vm/Vf = 1.15; (3) MOX fuel enriched at 4.5% and Vm/Vf = 2.0 and (4) MOX fuel enriched at 4.5%, with 1% of Americium insertion in its composition (62.8% of Am241, 0.1% of Am242m and 37.1% of Am243) and with Vm/Vf = 2.0. The first case represents the standard state of Angra I, but with Pu. The second case is similar to the first but the enrichment is increased. To evaluate the Americium insertion, a study of the Vm/Vf was made and better results were obtained with Vm/Vf = 2.0 and to compare, this case was too evaluated to (Pu–U) in the third and fourth cases. The idea is to verify the possibility of using these fuels in Angra-I analyzing neutronic parameters such as infinite multiplication factor, hardening spectrum, Boron worth and reactivity temperature coefficients. The results show that it is possible to use all the studied fuels in Angra-I as well as to burn Am inserted in the MOX fuel by a considerable quantity during PWR operation. The WIMS-D5 code was used to perform a simplified neutronic and burnup simulations to evaluate this possibility. 相似文献

An indirect estimation approach for elliptical stable distributions is presented. The auxiliary model is another elliptical distribution, the multivariate Student-t distribution. It has parameters that have a one-to-one relationship with those of the elliptical stable, making the proposed indirect approach particularly suitable. The influence of dietary lipid source [animal fats (AF) and vegetable oils (VO)] on quality characteristics of raw chicken meat (breast, thigh and meat batter) and cooked breaded patties prepared using a conventional technology (CT; forming, battering, breading, frying and convection cooking) or innovative technology (IT; forming, pre-dusting, steam cooking, battering and frying) was evaluated. Overall, dietary lipid source did not influence the chemical composition of raw meat while it modified its colour (L*, a*, b*). With respect to AF, VO produced higher breast and thigh meat cooking losses as well as a lower moisture and higher protein content of cooked breaded patties. VO also determined an increase of polyunsaturated-to-saturated fatty acid ratio of both raw and processed meat. Despite the different fatty acid profiles, the oxidative status of lipids was not affected by dietary lipid source and was acceptable in both raw meat and cooked patties as indicated by peroxide and thiobarbituric acid reactive substance values. As for the processing technology, IT determined a higher moisture and lower lipid content of the cooked breaded patties. Moreover, lipolysis degree was slightly higher in the products coming from IT. Finally, patties from AF group were lighter and more yellow than products belonging to VO group whereas IT led to lighter, less red and more yellow patties in comparison to CT. 相似文献

The antioxidant activities against fish oil oxidation of six commercially available flavonoids and of five flavonoids purified
from two Chilean native plants were compared to those ofdl-α-tocopherol and of two synthetic antioxidants, butylated hydroxytoluene and butylated hydroxyanisole. Among the commercial
flavonoids, catechin, morin and quercetin showed a higher activity when fish oil oxidation (either spontaneous or Fe2+-induced) was assessed from the formation of peroxides or thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances. Among the native flavonoids,
the 5,3′,4′-trihydroxy-7-methoxy flavanone (designated as Pt-2) showed the highest antioxidant activity. Mixtures of quercetin
or of Pt-2 withdl-α-tocopherol produced better inhibitory effects when compared to that of each substance assayed by itself. Also, when Pt-2
and quercetin were assayed in combination (0.3 g/kg oil and 0.7 g/kg oil, respectively), a synergistic antioxidant effect

BACKGROUND: A bioelectrochemical process for trichloroethene (TCE) dechlorination was developed. In this new process, a solid‐state electrode polarized to ?450 mV versus the standard hydrogen electrode (SHE), in combination with a redox mediator (i.e., methyl viologen, MV) is employed as an electron donor for the microbial reductive dechlorination of TCE. In this study we compared the performance of the process with the redox mediator immobilized at the surface of electrodes or dissolved in the bulk liquid, using both a culture highly enriched in Desulfitobacterium spp., capable of dechlorinating TCE to cis‐dichloroethene (cis‐DCE), and a culture highly enriched in Dehalococcoides spp. capable of dechlorinating cis‐DCE to ethene. RESULTS: Short‐term potentiostatic (?450 mV versus SHE) experiments showed that TCE or cis‐DCE was dechlorinated both in the presence of soluble (500 µmol L?1) and immobilized MV. However, TCE or cis‐DCE dechlorination rates with MV‐modified electrodes were remarkably lower than with soluble MV. Both cultures produced significant amounts of H2 in the presence of electrically reduced, soluble MV, whereas no H2 was produced when the mediator was immobilized at the electrode surface, regardless of the potential applied to the electrode, in the range ?425 to ?500 mV versus SHE. CONCLUSIONS: The process, operated with modified electrodes, supports the microbial dechlorination of TCE to ethene. Immobilization not only allows retention of the mediator within the system, but also increases process efficiency by preventing bioelectrochemical H2 formation.
