As heat generation in satellites increases, ensuring that they are provided with sufficient radiator panel area is an important problem. Deployable radiators, with radiator panels that are deployed post‐launch in space to increase the satellite's effective radiator panel area of the satellite, are becoming an important thermal control technology. A reservoir embedded loop heat pipe (RELHP) is used in deployable radiators as a heat transport device. A deployable radiator of this type was mounted on the ETS‐VIII satellite, which was launched on December 18, 2006 and injected into a geostationary orbit. The satellite is still operating without any significant issues over two years later. This paper investigates the heat transport characteristics of an RELHP system used in a deployable radiator in a geostationary orbital environment. This system can be successfully started up in a micro gravity environment. We also found that the sub‐cooling region is shorter in a micro gravity environment than in a terrestrial gravity environment, because there is less heat leakage into the reservoir in a micro gravity environment. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Analysis of reports about incidental and accidental events in nursing care were made using a reliability engineering method. Unnatural working hours, such as evening duty, night duty falling next to a holiday, two consecutive night-duty shifts, and two consecutive evening-duty shifts were major factors in the occurrence of errors. In a mixed-division ward (a ward containing patients belonging to different divisions), rule-based errors happened more frequently than in a single-division ward. Cellular uptake and gene expression of plasmid DNA and its cationic liposome complexes were studied using primary cultures of bovine brain microvessel endothelial cells (BMEC) developed as an in vitro model of the blood-brain barrier. An avid association of naked plasmid DNA with the BMEC monolayer was observed at 37 degreesC, which is comparable to that of the DNA/liposome complex. The cellular association significantly decreased at low temperature (4 degreesC). The binding at 4 degreesC was saturable and significantly inhibited by polyanions involving polyinosinic acid and dextran sulfate, typical ligands for the macrophage scavenger receptors, but not by polycytidylic acid or in the presence of EDTA. Unexpectedly, a significant gene expression in the BMEC was obtained by transfection with naked plasmid DNA although the expression level was lower than that obtained by plasmid DNA/cationic liposome complex. Taken together, cultured capillary endothelial cells derived from the brain are able to take up naked plasmid DNA via a scavenger receptor like-mediated mechanism for polyanions and gene expression in the cells takes place. 相似文献

The pressure dependence of the Raman spectra of HfO2 was measured by a micro-Raman technique using a singlecrystal specimen in the pressure range from 0 to 10 GPa at room temperature. The symmetry assignment of Raman bands of the monoclinic phase was experimentally accomplished from the polarization measurements for the single crystal. With increased pressure, a phase transformation for the monoclinic phase took place at 4.3 ± 0.3 GPa. Nineteen Raman bands were observed for the high-pressure phase. The spectral structure of the Raman bands for the high-pressure phase was similar with those reported previously for ZrO2 . The space group for the high-pressure phase of HfO2 was determined as Pbcm , which was the same as that of the high-pressure phase for ZrO2 on the basis of the number and the spectral structure of the Raman bands. 相似文献

As electronic devices become more highly integrated, the demand for small, high pin count packages has been increasing. We
have developed two new types of IC packages in response to this demand. One is an ultra thin small outline package (TSOP)
which has been reduced in size from the standard SOP and the other, which uses Tape Automated Bonding (TAB) technology, is
a super thin, high pin count TAB in cap (T.I.C.) package. In this paper, we present these packages and their features along
with the technologies used to improve package reliability and TAB. Thin packages are vulnerable to high humidity exposure,
especially after heat shock.1 The following items were therefore investigated in order to improve humidity resistance: (1)
The molding compound thermal stress, (2) Water absorption into the molding compound and its effect on package cracking during
solder dipping, (3) Chip attach pad area and its affect on package cracking, (4) Adhesion between molding resin and chip attach
pad and its affect on humidity resistance. With the improvements made as a result of these investigations, the reliability

When a benzene/cyclohexane mixture was permeated through poly(dimethyl acrylamide-random-methyl methacrylate) (DMAA-r-MMA)
and poly(dimethyl acrylamide)-graft-poly(methyl methacrylate) (DMAA-g-MMA) membranes by pervaporation, the benzene-permselectivity
of the DMAA-r-MMA membrane changed from the diffusivity selectivity to the solubility selectivity with increasing DMAA content
but DMAA-g-MMA membranes with a high DMAA content had the higher apparent diffusivity selectivity than the apparent solubility
selectivity. Furthermore, the apparent solubility selectivity for a benzene/cyclohexane mixture between the DMAA-r-MMA membrane
and the DMAA-g-MMA membrane with a high DMAA content was remarkably different. These results were attributed to the difference
of structure between the copolymers.

Positronium is an ideal system for research on Quantum Electrodynamics (QED), especially in a bound state. A discrepancy of 3.9 standard deviations has been found between the measured hyperfine structure (Ps-HFS) and the QED predictions. This may be due to the contribution of unknown new physics or common systematic effects in previous measurements, in all of which the Zeeman effect was used. We propose a new method to directly measure the Ps-HFS using a high power gyrotron. We compare two resonators which have been developed to supply sufficient power to drive the direct transition, a Fabry-Pérot resonator and a ring resonator with a diffraction grating. We plan to perform first direct measurement of Ps-HFS within the next six months. 相似文献

Radioactive end labeling can be used to determine the hydrolytic rates of nuclease mimics on moderate to long lengths of RNA or DNA. However, the reliability of end labeling as an assay can vary depending on how well the unincorporated label is removed from the labeled RNA or DNA products. Therefore, gel filtration, acid precipitation, membrane diafiltration, and paper chromatography were tested to determine which technique was the most effective at such separation. The results in order of decreasing contamination by [gamma-32P]ATP were gel filtration (40%), acid precipitation (5%), diafiltration (2%), and paper chromatography (1%); and, in order of decreasing loss of RNA, were acid precipitation (30%), diafiltration (11%), gel filtration (10%), and paper chromatography (1%). In order for the resultant radioactive counts to be linearly proportional to the number of cleavage sites, the total ATP in the end-labeling reaction should be in excess of 5'-hydroxyl ends by a factor of 10 or more. Interference by nuclease mimics in the end-labeling reaction should be accounted for by including the mimics when developing a standard curve based on known concentrations of 5'-hydroxyl ends. 相似文献

A 42-year-old man was admitted because of fever, productive cough, and progressive dyspnea. Chest x-ray films and computed tomographic scans disclosed dense consolidation in the left and right lung fields. No pathogenic agent was found despite extensive bacteriological examinations. Based on serological findings, the patient was given a diagnosis of acute pneumonia caused by Legionella micdadei. It has been reported that Legionnaire's disease is easily complicated by fatal systemic illnesses such as disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and multiple organ failure. In fact, the patient suffered from severe hypotension and DIC on admission. Treatments against systemic complications were started together with intravenous administration of antibiotics including erythromycin. Continuous intravenous cathecolamin, however, failed to alleviate the patient's shock. We therefore applied endotoxin eliminating therapy using a polymyxin-B-column (PMX) and continuous hemofiltration (CHF). The patient recovered from critical shock immediately after the start of PMX, which together with CHF, alleviated his systemic complications. Although the factors responsible for fatal systemic complications in Legionnare's disease are not well-documented, our findings suggested that some substances removable by PMX and CHF play an important role in pathogenesis. 相似文献
