In this work, we aimed to develop a scaffold of chitosan (CS) with a porous sponge structure for an artificial skin. The scaffolds were prepared from both CS/citric and CS/acetic solutions. In addition, the cast films were also prepared from the same solutions to compare some of their properties. They were characterized using WAXD, FTIR, DSC, tensile measurements, and SEM observation. It was found that CS/acetate had low crystallinity but CS/citrate was in an amorphous state, resulting in a large ductility with rubbery softness. Despite the different morphologies of CS/citrate and CS/acetate scaffolds, both scaffolds exhibited the wound healing effect available for tissue engineering. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A bearingless motor combines the functions of both magnetic suspension and torque generation together in a single motor. A consequent-pole type of bearingless motor has already been proposed. In contrast to conventional bearingless motors, it is free from the trade-off between suspension force and torque. In addition, stable suspension can be achieved without detecting the rotational angle. However, a part of the X-axis current generates undesirable force in the Y-axis. This force interference influences the performances of bearingless motors; thus, the interference should be eliminated. In this paper, the authors propose an optimal winding design of the consequent-pole bearingless motor to minimize the suspension force interference. Here, the suspension forces in the radial direction are numerically calculated using the magneto-motive force distribution of the bearingless motor, and are compared with the analytical results of finite element method. To verify the theory, static and dynamic performance tests were carried out. It was found that the improved winding configuration significantly reduced the suspension force interference by 90% compared with the previous winding configuration. Twenty-two benzene-utilizing bacteria were isolated from soil samples. Among them, three isolates were highly tolerant to benzene. They grew on benzene when liquid benzene was added to the basal salt medium at 10--90% (v/v). Taxonomical analysis identified the benzene-tolerant isolates as Rhodococcus opacus. One of the benzene-tolerant isolates, designated B-4, could utilize many aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons including benzene, toluene, styrene, xylene, ethylbenzene, propylbenzene, n-octane and n-decane as sole sources of carbon and energy. Strain B-4 grew well in the presence of 10% (v/v) organic solvents that it was capable of using as growth substrates. Genetic analysis revealed the benzene dioxygenase pathway is involved in benzene catabolism in strain B-4. A deletion-insertion mutant defective in the benzene dioxygenase large and small subunits genes (bnz A 1 and bnz A 2) was as tolerant to organic solvents as the wild-type strain B-4, suggesting that utilization or degradation of organic solvents is not essential for the organic solvent tolerance of R. opacus B-4. 相似文献

Heparin binds various growth factors and activates them to interact with high-affinity cell surface receptors; a specific array of sulfate groups in the heparin backbone structure is very important for this interaction. In the present study, we evaluated the effects of two novel heparin derivatives, 6-O-desulfated heparin (6-DSH) and 2-O-desulfated heparin (2-DSH), on blood coagulation and the proliferation of human neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs). 6-DSH showed lower anticoagulant activity than intact heparin or 2-DSH, as measured by the activated partial thromboplastin time and thrombin time. In the presence of FGF-2, 6-DSH and 2-DSH promoted approximately the same rate of proliferation of human NSPCs, without noticeably changing the expression of nestin. The mitotic effects of 6-DSH and 2-DSH on human NSPCs were different from their effects on mouse hematopoietic stem cells and fibroblasts. These findings indicate that 6-DSH and 2-DSH have the same ability to promote the growth of human NSPCs as intact heparin. Our results suggest that these two novel heparin derivates, especially 6-DSH, could be used in clinical applications for ex vivo human NSPC culture, as a lower-risk growth co-adjuvant than intact heparin. 相似文献

Perfect classified channel (PCC) was proposed as a hardware‐based Layer‐1 encryption system that prevents of leakage of packet information and any indication of the existence of packets. PCC can provide high‐throughput communication, which is encrypted using AES encryption hardware, while maintaining DC balancing, which is generally managed using the 8B/10B or 64B/66B coding algorithms. In this paper, we propose two methods to classify a framing signal that indicates a boundary between packets, for PCC. These methods facilitate an improved level of security compared with existing communication channels and make PCC more secure. This paper describes the details of the PCC architecture including the hardware costs while also verifying the DC‐balance performance of PCC and the confidentiality of framing signals. © 2013 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Abstract Various attempts to improve the microstructure of SBT thin films were carried out. One was to employ ultra-thin BT film as a top layer on the conventional SBT thin film. After optimization of the BT top layer thickness, a very smooth SBT surface was successfully achieved. Particularly, the insulation break down field was improved to more than 1.0 MV/cm. Next we used UV exposure during the baking process. By optimizing the UV assisted process, surface morphology was successfully improved with fine grain microstructure. The break down field was improved to more than 1.0 MV/cm. Also, these two process combinations successfully lead to more reliable SBT thin films. In order to reduce the thermal budget for SBT crystallization process in planer type stack cell FeRAMs, Rapid Thermal Anneal (RTA) based process for SBT thin film was investigated. Our new process is characterized by crystallization in RTA without any furnace annealing process, and includes a low temperature recovery annealing process (hereafter RTB (Reduced Thermal Budget) process). As a result of only 750C RTA for accumulated time of 60s without furnace annealing process, the sufficient ferroelectric properties were derived in comparison with that of conventional SBT thin film. In the RTB process, two approaches to improve the break down voltage were carried out. First, we used UV exposure during the baking process. By optimizing the UV assisted baking process, a high break down field due to smooth surface morphology was successfully obtained, resulting in break down field of more than 1.2 MV/cm. Secondly, ultra thin SBT films as a top few layer on the base SBT thin film were employed. After optimization of the ultra thin SBT layer thickness, a very smooth SBT surface was successfully achieved, resulting in improvement of the break down field of more than 1.1 MV/cm. 相似文献

The VR-Coms offer supporting modules for learning and discovering solutions with objective to manage construction at right speed with improved humanware and constructability.
