Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-reinforced copper (Cu) nanocomposite coatings were successfully deposited on aluminum (Al) substrate by a cold spraying process at a low pressure. The microstructure and the Raman spectrum of the low-pressure-cold-sprayed MWCNT–Cu nanocomposite coating showed that the MWCNTs maintained their tube structure in the Cu matrix, even though structural damage to the MWCNTs increased slightly. MWCNT–Cu nanocomposite-coated Al exhibits higher thermal diffusivity than pure-Cu-coated Al with a comparable hardness. The higher thermal diffusivity of the MWCNT–Cu coating could be explained by the dispersion of MWCNTs within the clean and closed CNT/Cu interfaces, which were achieved with the aid of compressive stress during the cold spraying. 相似文献

The effect of Ti serving as an activator in a eutectic Ag–Cu alloy filler metal in dissimilar laser-brazed joints of isotropic graphite and a WC–Co alloy on the joint strength and the interface structure of the joint is investigated in this study. To evaluate the joint characteristics, the Ti content in the filler metal was increased from 0 to 2.8 mass%. The laser brazing was carried out by irradiating a laser beam selectively on the WC–Co alloy plate in Ar atmosphere. The threshold content of Ti required to join isotropic graphite to WC–Co alloy was 0.4 mass%. The shear strength at the brazed joint increased rapidly with increasing Ti content up to 1.7 mass%, and a higher Ti content was found to be likely to saturate the shear strength to a constant value of about 14 MPa. The isotropic graphite blocks also fractured at this content. The concentration of Ti observed at the interface between isotropic graphite and the filler metal indicates the formation of an intermetallic layer of TiC. 相似文献

The precipitation of droplets was directly observed on a BaO–B2 O3 melt in a drop shaft experiment. This is the first time that precipitation of droplets has been observed in a 4.5 s drop test. The melt film of 4BaOz96B2 O3 (mol%) held on a platinum wire loop was heated above the critical tem-perature to produce uniformity and was cooled down to the phase separation temperature range. Phase separation of the melt was observed directly with a video camera. The IR image of the melt was simultaneously detected with a CCD array and was converted into a two-dimensional thermograph. 相似文献

Polymer blends of transparent poly(methyl methacrylate) and polystyrene become opaque due to light scattering at the boundaries of the two polymers. The polymer blend is light brown when it is illuminated by white light. The coloring depends on the spherical domain structures existing in the polymer blend. The coloring was analyzed by using the rigorous Mie theory. The Mie results were compared with the semiempirical results previously reported by the authors. The wavelength dependence of theoretical scattering efficiencies on radii of scattering spheres from 0.05 to 1.2 μm was obtained for polystyrene spheres in poly(methyl methacrylate) matrix, and vice versa. The scattering at the short wavelength region is stronger than at the long wavelength region. The scattering efficiencies become almost constant in the visible wavelength region for sufficiently large spheres. 相似文献

Narrow gap welding with an oscillation laser beam is one of the effective processes for thick plate welding. To put this welding process into practical manufacturing, a groove-sensing system using image processing for narrow gap welding with an oscillation laser beam is used. This developed system uses still images of the weld zone taken by a coaxial CMOS camera. It can recognize the position of the groove wall by analysing the brightness distribution in the still image. It can then control the oscillation width and the laser-irradiated area by calculating the groove width and the groove centre position. Some narrow gap welding experiments were performed to evaluate the performance of the developed system. The results revealed that the developed system is effective for narrow gap welding with an oscillation laser beam. Using this system, the narrow gap groove can be welded even if the groove width has changed during the welding process. 相似文献

In a fusion reactor, the prediction of tritium release behavior from breeder blanket is important to design the tritium recovery system, but the amount of tritium generated is necessary information to do that. Hence, tritium generation and recovery studies on lithium ceramics packed bed have been started by using fusion neutron source (FNS) in Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). Lithium titanate (Li2TiO3) was selected as tritium breeding material, and its packed bed was enclosed by the beryllium blocks, and was kept at certain temperature during fusion neutron irradiation. During irradiation, the packed bed was purged with the sweep gas continuously, and tritium released was trapped in each gas absorber selectively by chemical form. In this work, the effect of sweep gas species on tritium release behavior was investigated. In the case of sweep by helium with 1% of hydrogen, tritium in water form was released sensitively corresponding to the irradiation. This is due to existence of the water vapor in the sweep gas. On the other hand, in the case of sweep by helium without water vapor, tritium in gaseous form was released first, and release of tritium in water form was delayed from gaseous tritium and was gradually increased. 相似文献

We have been proposing a new planetary rover system named SMC Rover. This system consists of one main body and detachable units, which can work as child rovers, and also become driving units of the main body. Each detachable unit named Uni-Rover consists of a single manipulator mounted on a wheel. Prototype models of the Uni-Rover and the SMC Rover have been already developed. This paper describes a new method of trajectory modeling for the Uni-Rover using the relation between arm posture and turning radius. At first, an intuitively recognizable model which uses zero slip angle is introduced. However, because this intuitive model has some problems, a new solution which considers the loss of friction on the wheel and on the caster is also discussed. The validity of the presented method is verified by experiments with an actual mechanical model. Moreover, an effective steering method which considers the margin of the energy stability is introduced.Kazuhiro Motomura is a Ph.D candidate at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech). He is the Fellow of both IEEE and Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineers. His research interest is in design of novel robotic mechanisms and its control. He awarded more than 30 prizes from academic societies; these include the first Pioneer in Robotics and Automation Award in 1999 and Best Conference Paper Award in 1995 both from IEEE Robotics & Automation Society. Surface modification of diamond-like carbon (DLC) film was performed using a hyperthermal atomic fluorine beam on the purpose of production of hydrophobic surface by maintaining the high hardness of DLC film. By the irradiation of atomic fluorine beam of a 1.0 × 1020 atoms/cm2, the contact angle of a water drop against the DLC surface increased from 73° to 111°. The formation of CF3, CF2 and CF bonding on the modified DLC surface was confirmed from the measurements of X-ray photoelectron spectra and near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectra. Irradiation of hyperthermal atomic fluorine beam was concluded to produce insulator fluorine-terminated DLC film, which has high F content on the surface, by the taking of the use of neutral atomic beam as a fluorine source. 相似文献
