The effect of microtexture on diamond transition was examined for graphite starting materials under shock compressions of 50 to 60 GPa and 80 to 90 GPa. Each of the starting materials used in the present study possessed a fully homogeneous microtexture. To distinguish the effect of microtexture from that of other experimental parameters, the shock conditions were standardized for all specimens tested. Three graphite materials—a glassy carbon, a carbon black, and a natural graphite—were selected and shock compressed using a quenching technique to generate conditions common to all samples. Detailed characterization by transmission electron microscopy and electron energy-loss spectroscopy revealed a clear tendency: The lower the crystallinity and crystallite size of the starting graphite, the more easily the graphite transformed to diamond when the transition mechanism was reconstructive. 相似文献

A chemosynthetic aliphatic polyester, poly(ethylene succinate) (PESu), was degraded by a poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (P(3HB)) depolymerase in vitro. While P(3HB) exhibited good biodegradability in all environments, PESu hardly underwent biodegradation in a marine environment. To understand the difference in environmental degradability between PESu and P(3HB), we investigated the distribution of P(3HB)- and PESu-degrading microbes in various environments. PESu-degrading microbes were never detected in marine environments. PESu-degrading bacteria isolated from various environments in this study belonged to the phyla Firmicutes and Proteobacteria. Most PESu-degrading bacterial isolates could not degrade P(3HB), suggesting that PESu was not degraded by P(3HB) depolymerase in actual environments. In addition, all bacterial isolates that were screened for P(3HB) degrading activity from various environments in this study did not degrade PESu, suggesting that PESu does not induce P(3HB) depolymerase in their bacteria and P(3HB)-degrading bacteria are not involved in biodegradation of PESu in actual environments. The dielectric characteristics for some cellulose derivatives, namely chlorodeoxycellulose (Cell-Cl; degree of substitution of chlorine, DSCl=0·87), bromodeoxycellulose (Cell-Br; DSBr=0·92) and thiocyanatodeoxycellulose (Cell-SCN; DSSCN=0·88), all substituted only at C-6, together with those of regenerated cellulose, have been investigated in the temperature range -60 to 120°C, and in the frequency range 0·2–100kHz. Only one relaxation process, designated as β, was identified within the frequency and temperature ranges studied. The activation energy of this relaxation increases in the order Cell-Cl<Cell-Br<Cell-SCN, suggesting that the bulkiness of the substituent was the determining factor of the activation energy. The characteristic dielectric parameters, namely polarization magnitude (Δε) and shape parameter (α or β-), were obtained by the analysis of absorption bands and are discussed in relation to the substituent effect. © of SCI. 相似文献

Power transfer between systems is important due to uneven distribution of generating plants. This paper investigates the relation between the transfer capacity of a longitudinal power system and voltage control of static var compensators. The transfer capacity is basically limited by the thermal capacity of transmission lines. However, the practical systems, it is much restricted by stability and the power transfer level is considerably lower than the thermal capacity. In this paper, we consider a basic case in which SVCs are applied to all buses except generator terminals. In this case, it is possible to transfer power up to the reciprocal of the transmission reactance. Two modifications are then applied to the basic case. One is removal of SVCs on the high-voltage sides of the generator transformers. In this case, generator damping torques deteriorate, and the local oscillation mode becomes unstable. The other is removal of SVCs at intermediate buses on the trunk system. In this case, the shapes of the oscillation modes change greatly, and the global mode becomes unstable. The voltage control of SVCs maintains the generator damping torques and prevents deformation of mode shapes. By investigating different system sizes and transmission circuits, we show that the system transfer capacity is determined by the capacities of the individual transmission lines. © 1997 Scripta Technica, Inc. Using lift-off method, we synthesized large self-standing plasma CVD diamond films on various substrates. Charge carrier transportation in diamond was measured using α particle measurements and TOF methods with a short-pulsed UV laser. The high-quality films were synthesized rapidly. We observed the maximum transit time of holes and electrons shorter than 5 ns. The lift-off method is useful to fabricate the high-quality diamond with excellent drift velocities of the charge carrier. The charge transport characteristics of our diamond films are comparable to those of a commercially available (Element Six Ltd.) electronics grade IIa diamond single crystal. 相似文献

The structure, electronic and magnetic properties of nanodiamond and nanographite/nanographene are investigated. Detonation nanodiamond particles that are covered with amorphous graphitic composites are hydrothermally treated to remove the graphitic surface composites and to terminate the surface carbon atoms with hydrogen. The number of localized spins of dangling bonds and the hydrogen concentration increase upon the increase in the hydrothermal treatment time up to 40 h. Above 40 h, both drop discontinuously, a surface structural reconstruction was suggested. The creation of dangling bonds and an incomplete hydrogenation of the surface carbon atoms destabilize the surface, resulting in the structural reconstruction. Nanodiamond particles are thermally converted to nanographite/nanographene. A single nanographene sheet is successfully prepared by heat-treating nanodiamond particles. The edge of graphene sheet with its edge carbon atoms being hydrogen-terminated is investigated by UHV-STM/STS. Zigzag edges are found to have non-bonding π-state of edge origin, in good agreement with theoretical prediction. 相似文献

A novel side-chain-sulfonated aromatic diamine of bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)-2-(3-sulfobenzoyl)]phenyl sulfone (BAPSBPS) was synthesized. Sulfonated copolyimides were synthesized by random and sequenced block copolymerization of 1,4,5,8-naphthalene tetracarboxylic dianhydride, BAPSBPS and nonsulfonated diamine. They displayed good solubility in common aprotic solvents and high desulfonation temperature of 350 °C, suggesting the high stability of sulfonic acid groups. The reduced viscosity was in the range of 0.4-1.8 dl/g at 0.5 g/dl and 35 °C. Flexible and tough membranes with reasonably high mechanical strength were prepared. They showed anisotropic membrane swelling with larger swelling in thickness than in plane. They displayed reasonably high proton conductivity (σ), taking their lower ion exchanging capacity (IEC) into account. For example, the membrane with IEC of 1.54 mequiv/g showed σ values of 81 and 11 mS/cm in water and 70% RH, respectively, at 60 °C. 相似文献

6-(2-Cyanoethylamino)-6-deoxycellulose (Cell-CEA) as a novel cellulose derivative was prepared from 6-bromo-6-deoxycellulose. The influence of the reaction conditions on the degree of substitution was studied in detail. The dielectric characteristics of a Cell-CEA sample having degree of substitution of 0.86, together with those of microcrystalline and regenerated celluloses, have been investigated in the temperature range from −60 to 120°C, and frequency range 30 Hz to 100kHz. One relaxation process, designated as β, was recognised, which was attributed to side-group motions, probably −CH2X (X = OH or NHCH2CH2CN). The higher activation energy of this process and the shift to higher temperature in Cell-CEA, compared with microcrystalline and regenerated celluloses, reflects the enhanced steric constraints involved in the motion of the bulkier, −CH2NHCH2CH2CN, side groups. Bacterial strain B-9 possesses hydrolytic enzymes capable of degrading microcystins (MCs) and nodularin that are toxic cyclic peptides produced by cyanobacteria. In the present study, the degradation activities of the cell extract of B-9 against non-toxic cyanobacterial cyclic peptides other than the MCs and nodularin were investigated, and the degradation products were analyzed by liquid chromatography/ion trap tandem mass spectrometry (LC/ITMS). It was confirmed that B-9 could also degrade these cyanobacterial cyclic peptides by hydrolysis of their peptide bonds. These results indicated that this bacterium possesses a very unique hydrolytic activity that can degrade structurally different cyclic peptides and that this may be effective for the detoxification of hazardous cyclic peptides. 相似文献
