The oxygen self-diffusion coefficients were determined for polycrystalline ThO2 microspheres by an isotope exchange technique using 18O as the tracer. The diffusion coefficients in the temperature range 1099°–1644°C were represented by D = 5.67 × 10?3 exp[?219(kJ/mol)/RT] cm2/s. The results were one order smaller in magnitude than those reported for single crystal ThO2, while the activation energy was similar to that for the single crystal. Mechanism of the grain-boundary depressed oxygen diffusion was discussed.  相似文献

The high-temperature creep resistance of magnesium alloys was discussed, with special reference to Mg-Al and Mg-Y alloys. Mg-Al solid-solution alloys are superior to Al-Mg solid-solution alloys in terms of creep resistance. This is attributed to the high internal stress typical of an hcp structure having only two independent basal slip systems. Although magnesium has a smaller shear modulus than aluminum, the inherent creep resistance of Mg alloys is better than that of Al alloys. The creep resistance of Mg alloys is improved substantially by the addition of Y. Solid-solution hardening is the principal mechanism of the strengthening, but the details of the mechanism have not been elucidated yet. Forest dislocation hardening in concentrated alloys and dynamic precipitation in a Mg-2.4 pct Y alloy also contribute to the strengthening. An addition of a very small amount of Zn raises the dislocation density and significantly improves the creep resistance of Mg-Y alloys. Retinal bipolar cells exhibit a center-surround antagonistic receptive field to a light stimulus (Werblin & Dowling, 1969; Kaneko, 1970), and thus constitute an early stage of spatial information processing. We injected Lucifer Yellow and a small biotinylated tracer, biocytin, into bipolar cells of the teleost retina to examine electrical coupling in these cells. Lucifer-Yellow coupling was observed in one of 55 stained bipolar cells; the coupling pattern was one injected bipolar cell and three surrounding cells. Biocytin coupling was observed in 16 of 55 stained bipolar cells, six of which were ON center and ten OFF center. Although biocytin usually coupled to three to six bipolar cells, some OFF-center bipolar cells showed strong coupling to more than 20 cells. The biocytin-coupled bipolar cells were morphologically homologous. Membrane appositions resembling gap junctions were found between dendrites and between axon terminals of neighboring bipolar cells. In the strongest biocytin-coupled bipolar cells, the contacts between bipolar cells and cone photoreceptor cells were examined after reconstruction of the dendritic trees of five well-stained, serially sectioned OFF-center bipolar cells. Each of these bipolar cells was in contact with different numbers of cones: 11 to 20 for twin cones and two to four for single cones. This implies that, although these bipolar cells belong to the same category, the signal inputs differ among bipolar cells. Numerical simulation conducted on a hexagonal array network model demonstrated that the electrical coupling of bipolar cells can decrease the difference in input (approximately 80%) without causing significant loss of spatial resolution. Our results suggest that electrical coupling of bipolar cells has the advantage of decreasing the dispersion of input signals from cones, and permits bipolar cells of the same class to respond to light with similar properties.  相似文献

The dependence of physicochemical properties on the pH of micellar solutions for N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-N-(2-hydroxyalkyl)-β alanines (HAA) was studied by means of a differential titration method (DTM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, and measurements of critical micelle concentration, surface tension, and foaming power. The aspect of the dissociation of HAA was pursued by DTM. The mutual transformation among cationic, zwitterionic, and anionic forms with the change of pH range was confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy. The micelle formation energy was determined at each pH value. Further, the dependence of surface active properties on the pH value for the adducts of ethylene oxide to Na-HAA was also investigated.  相似文献

The relaxing effect and possible mechanism of N-(6-aminohexyl)-5-chloro-1-naphthalenesulfonamide (W-7) on isolated rabbit artery were investigated. The addition of W-7 in concentrations ranging from 1 X 10(-6) to 3 X 10(-4) M caused a significant relaxation of isolated rabbit vascular strips contracted by KCl, prostaglandin F2alpha, norepinephrine, histamine, CaCl2, serotonin or angiotensin II. W-7 also caused a shift to the right of the dose-response curves for all agonists tested. Propranolol and atropine did not affect W-7 induced relaxation, suggesting that this drug does not act through beta adrenergic or cholinergic receptors. Superprecipitation of actomyosin from bovine aorta smooth muscle was inhibited by the addition of W-7 in a dose-dependent fashion. The concentration of W-7 which inhibited superprecipitation of bovine aorta smooth muscle actomyosin was in good agreement with the dose producing relaxation of isolated vascular strips. These facts suggest that W-7 produces relaxation of isolated vascular strips by inhibiting actin and myosin interaction.  相似文献

Small spin probes in the vesicle and aqueous phases of mixed membranes made from poly(oxyethylene) hydrogenated castor oil (HCO) and hexadecane were investigated by ESR (electron spin resonance) spectroscopy. Partitioning (partition coefficients), rotational correlation times, and activation energies of the spin probes in the vesicle phase were determined. The quantitative results obtained by an ESR simulation indicated that the spin probe DTBN (di-tert-butyl nitroxide), in the vesicle of the mixed membrane, was partitioned similar to that of TEMPO (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl) at 50 degrees C, and the partitioning for both probes showed no abrupt change across the temperatures examined. The results differed considerably from conventional analyses of the high-field signal intensities. Activation energies obtained by the simulation for DTBN and TEMPO were 21 and 20 kJ/mol, respectively. In addition, the hyperfine values of 15.8 (DTBN) and 16.1 G (TEMPO) in the vesicle phase were consistent with the activation energies and supported the probe environments in the membrane. Thus, the present ESR results provided detailed information regarding the probe behavior in the membrane.  相似文献

Amitrole (ATz, 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole) is a widely employed herbicide with strong estrogenic activity that can lead to abnormalities of the thyroid gland and can cause mutations. The photocatalytic transformation of ATz was carried out at the UV-irradiated TiO2/H2O interface, along with the triazole derivatives Tz (1H-1,2,4-triazole) and DaTz (3,5-diamino-1H-1,2,4-triazole) to assess the decomposition of these herbicides, to identify intermediates, and to elucidate some mechanistic details of the ATz degradation. Conversion of the nitrogens of these triazoles to NH4+ and/ or NO3- ions occurs competitively and depends on the number of amine functions on the five-membered triazole rings. Photomineralization of the substrates in terms of loss of nitrogen to NH4+/NO3- was rather low (ca. 25-40%) for each of the triazoles, whereas evolution of CO2 (loss of TOC) was more significant (60-70%), indicating considerable retention of nitrogen in the intermediate products. UV-Vis spectroscopy, TOC assays, FT-IR spectroscopy, proton NMR spectrometry, electrospray LC-MS, and molecular orbital calculations were brought to bear in assessing the temporal course of the photocatalyzed process(es). Results show that after cleavage of the triazole ring, the various intermediate fragments recombine to yield ring-expanded six-membered triazine intermediates, which slowly degrade to give the refractory cyanuric acid under the conditions used.  相似文献

The cardiovascular and diuretic actions of carperitide were studied in experimental animals. Carperitide relaxed various canine arteries and veins that were contracted by high K+ or norepinephrine. Carperitide stimulated particulate guanylate cyclase from rat thoracic aortas. Carperitide had almost no effect on coronary perfusion pressure or heart rate, but caused a slight decrease in contractile force in isolated guinea pig hearts. Carperitide tended to decrease isoproterenol-induced renin release from isolated rat kidney slices and elicited decreases in angiotensin II-induced aldosterone release from bovine zona glomerulosa cells. Intravenous injection of carperitide elicited decreases in arterial blood pressure and total peripheral resistance in the anesthetized and conscious dogs. Carperitide also elicited transient increases in cardiac output and coronary blood flow followed by slight decreases in them. Intravenous infusion of carperitide elicited decreases in pulmonary capillary wedge pressure, pulmonary pressure and right atrial pressure in association with elevating plasma carperitide (ANP like immuno-reactivity) level in dogs with heart failure induced by coronary artery occlusion and saline loading. These results suggest that carperitide decreases both preload and afterload and can improve the untoward hemodynamic alterations in animals with acute experimental heart failure.  相似文献
