Comparative study of the elimination of toluene vapours in twin biotrickling filters using two microorganisms Bacillus cereus S1 and S2

BACKGROUND: To investigate the microbial degradation performance of organic pollutants in the atmosphere using a biotrickling filter, two microorganism strains, Bacillus cereus S1 and Bacillus cereus S2, were selected, identified and inoculated into a twin biotrickling filter for comparison. RESULTS: Both strains showed good performance towards the degradation of model organic pollutants when gas flow rates ranged from 100 to 600 L h⁻¹. For S1, the total maximum removal efficiency (RE) of toluene was maintained nearly 100% not only at gas flow rates of 100 L h⁻¹ corresponding to empty bed residence time (EBRT) 199.44 s, but also at gas flow rates of 200 L h⁻¹ (EBRT = 99.72 s) and 300 L h⁻¹ (EBRT = 66.48 s). However, S2 had a much lower degradation capability; near 100% removal efficiency was obtained only at the gas flow rate of 100 L h⁻¹ although both bacteria belong to the same Bacillus cereus. With further increase in gas flow rate, the total REs for both S1 and S2 decreased slightly at first and then dropped sharply to 46% and 35%, respectively, at an EBRT of 33.24 s, corresponding to a gas flow rate of 600 L h⁻¹. Starvation for between 2 and 10 days resulted in the re‐acclimation times of both strains ranging between 1.0 and 15.5 h. CONCLUSION: Strain S1 would be a better choice for inoculation into a biotrickling filter than strain S2, because of its much higher toluene removal capacity and rapid recovery to full performance. Synthesis,characterization, and redox and electrochromic behaviors of poly(3-n-octyloxythiophene)

Poly(3-n-octyloxythiophene), a conjugated polymer, which possessed solubility in common organic solvents, was synthesized by electrochemical polymerization in the presence of lithium perchlorate as the supporting electrolyte and sodium dodecyl sulfate as the surfactant in an aqueous medium. Characterizations of the intermediate, monomer, and polymer were performed by NMR spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, and gel permeation chromatography. The process of electrochemical polymerization and the electrochemical redox behaviors were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and the potentiostatic method. A poly(3-n-octyloxythiophene) film that was deposited on a platinum electrode was found to exhibit electrochromic behaviors, and it switched electrochemically between blue–green oxidized and dark red reduced states. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 研究了三种贮氢合金 L a Ni5、L a Ni4 .7Al0 .3、Ml Ni4 .5Al0 .5被 10 0× 10 - 6 CO毒化后的分形特征 ,求出这三种合金在含 10 0× 10 - 6 CO的氢中循环 ,分维分别为 0 .2 5 4 7、0 .170 9、0 .0 72 5。可以较好的解释合金被毒化的宏观现象。     

白云鄂博主矿开拓运输工艺转换有关问题的探讨

本文对白云鄂博主矿采场铁公路联合运输向公路运输转换位置是否确定为1638m水平以及运输工艺转换过程中相关问题进行分析论证，提出主矿采场铁路至少可向下延深一个水平，技术上可行，节约运费千万元以上。     

Preparation and Characterization of Carboxymethyl Chitosan and β-Cyclodextrin Microspheres by Spray Drying

Three kinds of carboxymethyl chitosan/β-cyclodextrin microspheres loaded with theophylline were prepared by spray drying intended for pulmonary delivery. Mucociliotoxicity, permeation rate, and drug release characteristics of the product were investigated. The microspheres obtained by spray drying were found to be spherical with smooth or wrinkled surfaces. The mean particle size was between 3.39 and 6.06 µm. The microspheres demonstrated high product yield (43.7-50.2%), high drug loading (13.7-38.1%), and high encapsulation efficiency (86.9-92.8%). FT-IR indicated that there were interactions of theophylline with carboxymethyl chitosan matrix. Further studies on mucociliotoxicity and permeation confirmed that microspheres had better adaptability and high permeation rate. In vitro drug release from the microspheres was not related to the drug/polymer ratios.     

Site-directed mutagenesis of recombinant human beta 2-glycoprotein I identifies a cluster of lysine residues that are critical for phospholipid binding and anti-cardiolipin antibody activity

beta2-Glycoprotein I (beta2GPI) is a phospholipid-binding serum protein with anticoagulant properties. It plays a vital role in the binding of anti-cardiolipin Abs purified from patients with autoimmune disease when assayed in a cardiolipin (CL) ELISA. Based on a three-dimensional model of beta2GPI, electrostatic calculations, and earlier peptide studies, a highly positively charged amino acid sequence, Lys282-Asn-Lys-Glu-Lys-Lys287, located in the fifth domain of beta2GPI, has been predicted to be the phospholipid binding site. We tested this hypothesis by site-directed mutagenesis of residues in the predicted phospholipid binding site and by assessing the mutants for phospholipid binding and anti-beta2GPI activity. A single amino acid change from Lys286 to Glu significantly decreased the binding of beta2GPI to CL. Double and triple mutants 2k (from Lys286, 287 to Glu286, 287), 2ka (from Lys284, 287 to Glu284, 287), and 3k (from Lys284, 286, 287 to Glu284, 286, 287) possessed no binding of Ab to beta2GPI in a CL ELISA, as well as no inhibitory activity on the binding of iodinated native beta2GPI to CL. These results indicate that the residues Lys284, Lys286, and Lys287 in the fifth domain of beta2GPI are critical for its binding to anionic phospholipids and its subsequent capture for binding of anti-beta2GPI Abs.     

管线用高强韧性宽厚钢板的开发

本文回顾了舞钢高强韧性管线用宽厚钢板的研制开发过程，并结合生产工艺，对钢板性能作了全面分析，指导了钢管线钢的生产。舞钢X70级管线钢有较高的断裂韧性、良好的可焊性以及抗SSCC、HIC性能。舞钢正在进行技术改造，以进一步改善组织，提高性能、满足西气东输要求。
