Carbon nanotubes were used to modify a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) polymer solution before the manufacture of the carbon fiber precursor. The modified PAN fibers were spun from a dimethylformamide solution containing a small amount of single-walled carbon nanotubes. The fibers were characterized by thermogravimetry and optical and scanning electron microscopy. Structure, morphology, and selected properties of the composite polymeric fibers and the fibers after carbonization are characterized. The mechanical properties of the fibers are examined. It is found that nanotubes in the PAN solution have a strong tendency to form agglomerates that inhibit suitable macromolecular chain orientation of the carbon fiber precursor. Fibers manufactured from such a solution have similar mechanical properties to those from a pure PAN precursor, and after carbonization the resultant carbon fibers are very weak. A comparison of pure carbon fibers and those containing nanotubes reveals slight differences in their structural ordering.  相似文献

Flame retardants have attracted growing environmental concern. Recently, an increasing number of studies have been conducted worldwide to investigate flame-retardant sources, environmental distribution, living organisms’ exposure, and toxicity. The presented studies include the degradation of 4,4′-isopropylidenebis(2,6-dibromophenol) (TBBPA) by ozonolysis and photocatalysis. In the photocatalytic process, nano- and micro-magnetite (n-Fe3O4 and μ-Fe3O4) are used as a catalyst. Monitoring of TBBPA decay in the photocatalysis and ozonolysis showed photocatalysis to be more effective. Significant removal of TBBPA was achieved within 10 min in photocatalysis (ca. 90%), while for ozonation, a comparable effect was observed within 70 min. To determine the best method of TBBPA degradation concentration on COD and TOC, the removals were examined. The highest oxidation state was obtained for photocatalysis on μ-Fe3O4, whereas for n-Fe3O4 and ozonolysis, the COD/TOC ratio was lower. Acute toxicity results show noticeable differences in the toxicity of TBBPA and its degradation products to Artemia franciscana and Thamnocephalus platyurus. The EC50 values indicate that TBBPA degradation products were toxic to harmful, whereas the TBPPA and post-reaction mixtures were toxic to the invertebrate species tested. The best efficiency in the removal and degradation of TBBPA was in the photocatalysis process on μ-Fe3O4 (reaction system 1). The examined crustaceans can be used as a sensitive test for acute toxicity evaluation.  相似文献

Since the discovery of biological antifreeze glycoproteins (AFGPs), which can inhibit ice nucleation, there has been considerable interest in understanding their mechanisms and mimicking them in synthetic polymers. In this study, we used molecular dynamics simulations of modified polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) compounds to show that the hydroxyl (OH) group distance is a key factor in whether certain compounds promote or inhibit ice nucleation. A hydroxyl distance smaller than ~2.8 Å but greater than ~7.1 Å in modified PVA (MPVA) compounds was associated with the promotion of ice nucleation, while a hydroxyl group separation distance of approximately ~5.0 Å was correlated with a delay in ice nucleation, owing to changes in the energy of the system. Thus, these results may help explain some of the mechanisms of current known anti-freeze compounds and may have implications for designing new anti-freeze compounds in the future.  相似文献

The thermal energy storage unit in the form of the ceiling panel made of the gypsum‐microencapsulated phase change material composite with internal U‐shaped channels was optimised applying previously developed 1D‐3D numerical simulator. Calculations were carried out for variable inlet velocities of air, different properties of the composite expressed by enthalpy‐temperature curves, and summer climatic conditions in Central Poland (Warsaw). Optimal working temperature ranges of the composite were determined. Moreover, studies showed that for Central Poland, composites with wide ranges of the working temperature are preferred due to significant daily variations of ambient temperature during the whole summer.  相似文献

A new model order reduction approach is proposed for parametric steady-state nonlinear fluid flows characterized by shocks and discontinuities whose spatial locations and orientations are strongly parameter dependent. In this method, solutions in the predictive regime are approximated using a linear superposition of parameter-dependent basis. The sought-after parametric reduced bases are obtained by transporting the snapshots in a spatially and parametrically dependent transport field. Key to the proposed approach is the observation that the transport fields are typically smooth and continuous, despite the solution themselves not being so. As a result, the transport fields can be accurately expressed using a low-order polynomial expansion. Similar to traditional projection-based model order reduction approaches, the proposed method is formulated mathematically as a residual minimization problem for the generalized coordinates. The proposed approach is also integrated with well-known hyper-reduction strategies to obtain significant computational speedups. The method is successfully applied to the reduction of a parametric one-dimensional flow in a converging-diverging nozzle, a parametric two-dimensional supersonic flow over a forward-facing step, and a parametric two-dimensional jet diffusion flame in a combustor.  相似文献

Structural behavior of miktoarm star polymers comprising poly(butyl acrylate) (PBA) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) arms was studied by means of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Wide Angle X-Ray Scattering (WAXS), Polarized Optical Microscopy (POM) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) methods. The aim of this study was to correlate changes in the composition of the arms of the PBA/PEO miktoarm star polymers with their structures. As a consequence of increasing PBA content, the decrease in crystallinity of the studied PBA/PEO heteroarm star copolymers was observed. Regardless of the copolymer composition, fraction of oxyethylene units in the crystalline PEO phase was similar in all investigated systems. The POM images showed spherulitic morphology of the materials having low PBA content, while an increase in PBA arms fraction leads to the formation of less ordered structures. The analysis of FTIR vibrational spectrum indicates helical conformation of PEO chains in the crystalline phase. Isothermal crystallization studies carried out using the FTIR technique suggest the existence of isolated domains in the nanoscopic scale of investigated materials.  相似文献

2‐Acetyl‐4,6,8,10,12‐pentanitro‐2,4,6,8,10,12‐hexaazaisowurtzitane (PNAIW) is formed in the last step of nitration of acetyl isowurtzitane derivatives. The amount of the PNAIW formed depends on the conditions of the nitration reaction (temperature, time, and nitrating mixture used) and on the type of the starting acetyl intermediate. The highest PNAIW yields (30 %) were obtained by nitrating 2,6,8,12‐tetraacetylhexaazaisowurtzitane (TAIW) at 60 °C for half an hour using HNO3/H2SO4 nitrating mixture. HPLC, NMR, FTIR, and DSC measurements were used in the study and their results are reported.  相似文献

Conclusions The effect of a medium with a variable partial pressure of oxygen on the sintering at 1300°C of SnO2, both pure and with some additions, has been studied. The sintering of pure SnO2 is not activated at lower pO2 while the volatility of the material sharply increases when pO2<10 Pa.With the addition of sintering additives to the SnO2, the compaction of the material is markedly improved with a reduction in pO2; this is particularly so when variable-valence oxides (V, Mn, Sb) are used. Quercetin, classified as a flavonoid, is a strong antioxidant that plays a significant role in the regulation of physiological processes in plants, which is particularly important in the case of biotic and abiotic stresses. The study investigated the effect of the use of potassium quercetin solutions in various concentrations (0.5%, 1.0%, 3.0% and 5.0%) on the physiological and biochemical properties of wheat seedlings. A pot experiment was carried out in order to determine the most beneficial dose of this flavonoid acting as a bio-stimulant for wheat plants. Spraying with quercetin derivative solutions was performed twice, and physiological measurements (chlorophyll content and fluorescence as well as gas exchange) were carried out on the first and seventh days after each application. The total phenolic compounds content and the total antioxidant capacity were also determined. It was shown that the concentrations of potassium quercetin applied have a stimulating effect on the course of physiological processes. In the case of most of the tested physiological parameters (chlorophyll content and fluorescence and gas exchange) and the total antioxidant capacity, no significant differences were observed in their increase as a result of application with concentrations of 3.0 and 5.0%. Therefore, the beneficial effect of quercetin on the analysed parameters is already observed when spraying with a concentration of 3.0%.  相似文献
