In the present study, the effects of graphene content (0.1, 0.3, 0.5?wt-%) on the mechanical and tribological properties of aluminium matrix composites were reported. The experimental results reveal that the best apparent density (2.58?±?0.02?g?cm?3), highest Vickers hardness (57?±?2.5?HV), lowest mass loss (1.6 and 9.7?mg for 10?N and 40?N), and lowest wear rate (12?×?10?5 and 18?×?10?5?mm3/Nm for 10?N and 40?N) were obtained at aluminium–0.1% graphene composite when compared with pure aluminium. The ultimate compressive strength of composites increases from 106?±?4 to 138?±?4?MPa with increasing graphene nanoplatelet contents. All results showed that graphene has been a very effective reinforcement and solid-lubricant material for Al matrix composites. 相似文献

Superhydrophobic coatings have large application potential in self-cleaning textiles. Low durability, high cost of fabrication, and environmental concerns over the usage of chemicals such as fluorocarbons limit the utilization of superhydrophobic coatings. This study reports a convenient and inexpensive approach to fabricate robust and fluorine-free superhydrophobic fabrics based on the transfer of structured polymer films and hydrophobic nanoparticles. In this approach, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is infused between sheets of fabric and paper, followed by curing and removal of the paper. This process results in a fabric infused with PDMS whose structure is a negative replica of the paper surface. Then, hydrophobic nanoparticles are sprayed onto the structured PDMS side of the fabric. The infusion of PDMS and subsequent deposition of the hydrophobic nanoparticles enables strong bonding, as shown by the excellent solvent stability of the superhydrophobic fabric under ultrasonication. The proposed approach is universal in that it can be applied to almost any textiles, which upon coating, exhibited superhydrophobicity with a water contact angle of 172° and a sliding angle of 3°. Furthermore, the superhydrophobic fabric showed robust durability against water spray impact and mechanical bending where it can keep superhydrophobicity for at least 200 cycles of each test. 相似文献

Executing multiple applications concurrently is an important way of utilizing the computational power provided by emerging chip multiprocessor (CMP) architectures. However, this multiprogramming brings a resource management and partitioning problem, for which one can find numerous examples in the literature. Most of the resource partitioning schemes proposed to date focus on performance or energy centric strategies. In contrast, this paper explores reliability-aware core partitioning strategies targeting CMPs. One of our schemes considers both performance and reliability objectives by maximizing a novel combined metric called the vulnerability-delay product (VDP). The vulnerability component in this metric is represented with Thread Vulnerability Factor (TVF), a recently proposed metric for quantifying thread vulnerability for multicores. Execution time of the given application represents the delay component of the VDP metric. As part of our experimental analysis, proposed core partitioning schemes are compared with respect to normalized weighted speedup, normalized weighted reliability loss and normalized weighted vulnerability delay product gain metrics for various workloads of benchmark applications. 相似文献

This paper studies the modeling and control problem for planar maneuvering of space vehicles with fuel slosh dynamics. A multi-mass–spring model is considered for the characterization of the most prominent sloshing modes. The control inputs are defined by the gimbal deflection angle of a non-throttable thrust engine and a pitching moment about the center of mass of the spacecraft. The control objective, as is typical in a thrust vector control design for a liquid upper stage spacecraft during orbital maneuvers, is to control the translational velocity vector and the attitude of the spacecraft, while attenuating the sloshing modes characterizing the internal dynamics. Subsequently, a nonlinear mathematical model that reflects these specifications is derived. Finally, Lyapunov-based nonlinear feedback control laws are designed to achieve the control objective. A simulation example is included to illustrate the effectiveness of the control laws. 相似文献

The response surface (RS) methodology is a well-known tool employed for product and process optimization. In some engineering optimization problems the fitted response has a rising or falling ridge system, namely the stationary point of response is remote from the design region. For such a case, usually the classical method, called ridge analysis (RA), is employed to specify the optimum operating conditions for an optimization problem. In this paper, it is proven that the RA does not guarantee the global maximum or minimum point of response in the experimental region for non-spherical designs such as face-centered designs, Box-Behnken designs, and two-level factorial designs. The current study proposes an approximation based on the use of desirability function technique to solve this ridge optimization problem, and demonstrates that the desirability function technique is more effective than the RA technique described by Myers and Montgomery (2002) for non-spherical designs which are frequently applied for engineering problems. To show the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed technique, a case study is presented to optimize the forming parameters of a tube hydroforming (THF) process where a Box-Behnken design is employed. 相似文献

Stable voltammetric sensors were fabricated by dropping the guar-containing polyurethane films on a platinum electrode for the non-enzymatic determination of caffeic acid. The voltammetric responses of PU-G-1% toward caffeic acid have a linear concentration range from 1 to 15?mM with a correlation coefficient of 0.9938. The detection limit of PU-G-1% electrode was approximately 0.25?mM. PU-G-1% sensor showed the good sensitivity, selectivity, high R-value, low detection limit, and high reproducibility toward caffeic acid. Therefore, it is claimed that the polyurethane film containing 1% guar can be used as an excellent selective membrane for caffeic acid detection in the presence of interferent molecules. 相似文献

This paper studies the real‐life problem of dynamically optimizing the number of airport check‐in counters to allocate for a single flight. The main feature of our work is the use of empirical data collected at the Singapore Changi Airport, which drives the dynamic optimization model of a parallel queues system. We propose an event‐based dynamic programming model that simplifies considerably the optimization analysis even for large‐scale problems with 700+ booked passengers. We investigate the following research questions: (a) For a particular flight, what is the optimal number of counters the system should open with and what is the corresponding optimal total cost? (b) Given the state of the system at any event epoch, should we open another counter or not and what is the optimal cost‐to‐go from this state? The empirical data we collected at the airport are used to test the assumptions, estimate the key parameters, and run the computational experiments. We apply our model to 14 flights at the Singapore Changi Airport and identify cases in which, depending on the cost parameters, the model advocates the use of either a dynamic or a static policy. Although the model concerns only an exclusive‐use system, it is flexible enough to apply to other configurations such as a common‐use system or a single‐queue, multicounter system. 相似文献

Abstract In this study, polystyrene modified Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) wood was investigated upon artificial weathering, decay resistance, dimensional stability and water uptake properties. Polystyrene modification was carried out on pretreated wood by immersion of wood into styrene monomer and further polymerization. The resistance of modified wood against cycles of UV and water exposures was examined by artificial weathering test for 672?hours, and decay resistance was evaluated by attacks of Coniophora puteana and Trametes versicolor on the samples. During the artificial weathering, color and surface roughness of the samples, and macroscopic changes were determined periodically. Changes in the surface chemistry and morphology of the weathered samples were investigated by ATR-FTIR and SEM, respectively. It was proven that polystyrene effectively protected pine samples from both fungi even after leaching procedure, but it was more effective in preventing C. puteana attacks than T. versicolor attacks. As a result of artificial weathering, the surface of all samples was darkened. However, changes in color and roughness as well as crack formations of the modified sample surfaces were found less than those of the untreated samples. The biosorption of Cu(II) from aqueous solutions by mimosa tannin resin (MTR) was investigated as a function of particle size, initial pH, contact time and initial metal ion concentration. The aim of this study was to understand the mechanisms that govern copper removal and find a suitable equilibrium isotherm and kinetic model for the copper removal in a batch reactor. The experimental isotherm data were analysed using the Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin equations. The equilibrium data fit well in the Langmiur isotherm. The experimental data were analysed using four sorption kinetic models -- the pseudo-first- and second-order equations, and the Elovich and the intraparticle diffusion equation -- to determine the best fit equation for the biosorption of copper ions onto mimosa tannin resin. Results show that the pseudo-second-order equation provides the best correlation for the biosorption process, whereas the Elovich equation also fits the experimental data well. Thermodynamic parameters such as the entropy change, enthalpy change and Gibb's free energy change were found out to be 153.0 J mol(-1)K(-1), 42.09 kJ mol(-1) and -2.47 kJ mol(-1), respectively. 相似文献

The activity concentrations of 137Cs, 40K, 232Th, 238U and 226Ra were measured in surface soil samples from East and South of Marmara region, Turkey. The physico-chemical parameters (organic matter, CaCO3 contents and pH-value) of the soil samples were determined in the samples collected from 100 sampling stations. The average activity concentrations of 137Cs, 40K, 232Th, 238U and 226Ra were found to be 27.46+/-21.84, 442.51+/-189.85, 26.63+/-15.90, 21.77+/-12.08 and 22.45+/-13.31 Bq kg(-1), respectively. The mean value of total annual external gamma radiation dose equivalent for the natural radionuclides was calculated to be 54.86 microSv. The current data were compared with those found in the other locations of Turkey and different countries. 相似文献
