In this paper, we present an interactive edutainment system for the children that leverages multimedia and RFID technologies in a seamless manner. The proposed system allows children to learn about new objects/entities by tapping on physical objects through a specially designed RFID-Bluetooth based Tangible User Interface (TUI) tool. The output of the system is delivered as a set of appropriate multimedia representations related to the objects being tapped. The TUI uses RFID technology for object identification and Bluetooth communication to transmit data to the computer where the system??s software is running. We incorporated our system in three games that allow children of different ages to benefit from the system??s functionalities and encourage them to interact with it. 相似文献

Cookies are the primary means for web applications to authenticate HTTP requests and to maintain client states. Many web applications (such as those for electronic commerce) demand a secure cookie scheme. Such a scheme needs to provide the following four services: authentication, confidentiality, integrity, and anti-replay. Several secure cookie schemes have been proposed in previous literature; however, none of them are completely satisfactory. In this paper, we propose a secure cookie scheme that is effective, efficient, and easy to deploy. In terms of effectiveness, our scheme provides all of the above four security services. In terms of efficiency, our scheme does not involve any database lookup or public key cryptography. In terms of deployability, our scheme can be easily deployed on existing web services, and it does not require any change to the Internet cookie specification. We implemented our secure cookie scheme using PHP and conducted experiments. The experimental results show that our scheme is very efficient on both the client side and the server side.A notable adoption of our scheme in industry is that our cookie scheme has been used by Wordpress since version 2.4. Cloud computing services have recently become a ubiquitous service delivery model, covering a wide range of applications from personal file sharing to being an enterprise data warehouse. Building green data center networks providing cloud computing services is an emerging trend in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, because of Global Warming and the potential GHG emissions resulting from cloud services. As one of the first worldwide initiatives provisioning ICT services entirely based on renewable energy such as solar, wind and hydroelectricity across Canada and around the world, the GreenStar Network (GSN) was developed to dynamically transport user services to be processed in data centers built in proximity to green energy sources, reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions of ICT equipments. Regarding the current approach, which focuses mainly in reducing energy consumption at the micro-level through energy efficiency improvements, the overall energy consumption will eventually increase due to the growing demand from new services and users, resulting in an increase in GHG emissions. Based on the cooperation between Mantychore FP7 and the GSN, our approach is, therefore, much broader and more appropriate because it focuses on GHG emission reductions at the macro-level. This article presents some outcomes of our implementation of such a network model, which spans multiple green nodes in Canada, Europe and the USA. This paper deals with the H ?? filtering problem for a class of nonlinear systems. This class of nonlinear systems is composed of a bilinear part and of a lipschitzian one. The use of an unbiasedness condition for the bilinear part (called quasi unbiasedness condition) permits to parameterize the filter matrices through a single gain. Two LPV (Linear Parameter Varying) extensions of the bounded real lemma are used to solve the filtering problem. This approach reduces the conservatism inherent to the boundedness of the inputs. Then the filtering solution is expressed in terms of LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality) to be verified at the vertices of a polytope. A numerical example is finally given to illustrate our approach. 相似文献

The grain boundary embrittlement in Cu-AI-Ni-phase alloys has been investigated. The study included both the bulk alloys and rapidly solidified ribbons. It was observed that the fracture characteristics and the phase transformations in rapidly solidified ribbons were similar to those in the bulk alloys. Various factors responsible for intergranular fracture were considered. It was found that intrinsic or extrinsic precipitates at the grain boundaries are not responsible for the embrittlement. It was further observed that the segregation of impurities does not occur at the grain boundaries and hence is not a factor contributing to the embrittlement. The intrinsic characteristics, however, appear to play an important role. These may include high elastic anisotropy, ordered structure and plastic incompatibility. Severe embrittlement in high-nickel alloys is associated with spinodal decomposition occurring in these alloys. The large grain size exhibited by these alloys is found not to be a significant factor contributing to the embrittlement. 相似文献

A.c. susceptibility measurements were carried out on the disordered spinel system Co2–x
Zn
x
TiO4 (0<x<1) between 10 and 80 K. Our measurements show three peaks in the versus T curve for Co2TiO4 and CoZnTiO4 compounds. In both compounds two peaks are very close to each other, indicating that the Néel and semi-spin glass temperatures are very close. A third peak indicates the presence of the semi-spin glass to spin glass transition. In Co1.5Zn0.5TiO4 only one peak is observed which indicates spin glass ordering at 26 K. Furthermore, the A-site canting present in Co2TiO4 and CoZnTiO4 has a collinear and magnetic structure, indicating strong A-B coupling. X-ray analysis indicated that compounds of the system Co2ZnxTiO4 synthesized with cubic symmetry. From transport properties it was found that the activation energy and thermoelectric coefficient decrease with increasing concentration of Zn in the system. The mobility of the system calculated from infrared measurements is typically of the order of 10–9cm2V–1s–1. 相似文献

The development, progression, or stabilization of the atherosclerotic plaque depends on the pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory macrophages. The influx of the macrophages and the regulation of macrophage phenotype, inflammatory or anti-inflammatory, are controlled by the small GTPase RhoA and its downstream effectors. Therefore, macrophages and the components of the RhoA pathway are attractive targets for anti-atherosclerotic therapies, which would inhibit macrophage influx and inflammatory phenotype, maintain an anti-inflammatory environment, and promote tissue remodeling and repair. Here, we discuss the recent findings on the role of macrophages and RhoA pathway in the atherosclerotic plaque formation and resolution and the novel therapeutic approaches. 相似文献

The productivity of agricultural produce is fairly dependent on the availability of nutrients and efficient use. Magnesium (Mg2+) is an essential macronutrient of living cells and is the second most prevalent free divalent cation in plants. Mg2+ plays a role in several physiological processes that support plant growth and development. However, it has been largely forgotten in fertilization management strategies to increase crop production, which leads to severe reductions in plant growth and yield. In this review, we discuss how the Mg2+ shortage induces several responses in plants at different levels: morphological, physiological, biochemical and molecular. Additionally, the Mg2+ uptake and transport mechanisms in different cellular organelles and the role of Mg2+ transporters in regulating Mg2+ homeostasis are also discussed. Overall, in this review, we critically summarize the available information about the responses of Mg deficiency on plant growth and development, which would facilitate plant scientists to create Mg2+-deficiency-resilient crops through agronomic and genetic biofortification. 相似文献
