BACKGROUND: Until now, the influence of sex, age, smoking, drinking on serum pepsinogen levels has been assessed by single regression analysis. However, the influence of those factors on pepsinogen levels should be assessed exactly by multiple regression analyses. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: 891 subjects were collected from by questionnaire and serum tests. Analyses were done with serum pepsinogen I (PG I), pepsinogen II (PG II) and pepsinogen I/II ratio (PG I/II) as a criterion variable and as categorized explanatory variables, sex, age, current or past smoking habit, and current drinking habit. And analyses are done by Mann-Whitney U test, correlation coefficient, single regression method, multiple regression method. RESULTS: PG I level is significantly higher in men than in women by Mann-Whitney U test. But the effect of sex factor is not remarkable by multiple regression analyses. PG II level increased and PG I/II level decreased with progression of age by all analyses methods. Current or past smoking elevates PG I level by Mann-Whitney U test, but current smoking dose and past smoking amount showed no dose-dependent associations with PG I level. Current drinking elevates PG I level by Mann-Whitney U test, but current drinking dose showed no dose-dependent associations with PG I. However, the effects of current smoking and current drinking to serum PG levels is not so large by multiple regression analyses. CONCLUSION: The effects of sex, current smoking and current drinking to serum PG levels are not remarkable by multiple regression analyses. Significantly, PG II level increased and PG I/II level decreased with progression of age. Therefore it may not be necessary to consider the effects of sex, smoking habit and drinking habit when serum pepsinogen levels are used as markers for gastric cancer. 相似文献

We report on a 10-year-old boy with distal ureteral atresia associated with crossed renal ectopia with fusion. He was admitted with a high fever associated with a urinary tract infection. The diagnosis was established by antegrade and retrograde pyelography. The upper hydronephrotic portion of the kidney, obstructed for 10 years, recovered its function after nephrostomy placement. To our knowledge, this is the first patient whose renal function has recovered despite an ureteral obstruction of 10-years' duration. Therefore, we recommend a transient nephrostomy placement even for far advanced pediatric hydronephrosis, to test for the possibility of functional recovery. 相似文献

The relationship between crack initiation tendency before chemical strengthening and fracture strength of chemically strengthened glass was investigated. Four kinds of glass compositions were used in this study: soda-lime silicate (SLS), aluminosilicate (ALS-1, ALS-2), and aluminoborosilicate (ALBS) glasses. The fracture strength of sheet glass was measured by the four-point bending test, the ring-on-ring test, the ball drop test, and the predamaged four-point bending test. ALBS glass, which has the lowest crack formation probability before chemical strengthening, is more damage tolerant than other glasses, and one of the best candidates for chemical strengthening. 相似文献

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) systems were developed for detection of 3 pathogenic bovine mycoplasmas, Mycoplasma alkalescens (Mak), M. bovigenitalium (Mbg) and M. bovirhinis (Mbr). The primers were selected from the sequences of the 16S rRNA from each of the mycoplasmas. Neither the Mbg-PCR system nor the Mbr-PCR system showed cross-amplification among 24 bovine, caprine-ovine and human mycoplasma species (including Acholeplasma and Ureaplasma species) tested. The Mak-PCR system showed cross-amplification with M. canadens ATCC29418T (T = type strain). The sensitivity of each PCR system to detect the proper mycoplasma was 10(3) colony forming units (CFU) when a pure culture was tested, and 2 x 10(3) CFU when the mycoplasma culture was spiked into a calf nasal swab sample. The target mycoplasmas in a clinical nasal swab sample that could be detected by the direct plate method could also be detected by these PCR systems. 相似文献

N-acetyl-muramyl-L-alanyl-D-isoglutamine (MDP) protected against pulmonary blastomycosis when given prophylactically to BALB/c mice. Its desmethyl analogue (DM-MDP) had a similar effect. In C3H/HeJ, the effect was less marked. Early treatment after infection, with MDP and DM-MDP, had a modest effect in C3H/HeJ and BALB/c respectively, whereas late treatment had no effect in any mouse strain. No effect could be demonstrated with challenge sizes producing too lethal a model or minimal lethality, or in DBA/2J or young BALB/c mice. The effects in various strains do not correlate with differing effects on nonspecific immunostimulation in these strains. Immunostimulation with glycopeptides deserves further study in prophylaxis or therapy of fungal infection. 相似文献

This paper describes the development of the reliability analysis system for transmission systems from primary substations on high-voltage trunk line systems to distribution substations. This system has been developed on an engineering workstation. The user can input the network data of power systems from primary substations to distribution substations and the structure of buses and connections of transformers in substations using graphics. This analysis system can evaluate reliability at each distribution substation by simulating outage and recovery process for all fault modes which can occur, defining the capacity of facilities, probability of fault at each facility, the value of load at each bank, and the points where switching elements are turned off in the network as input data. In the calculation of the recovery process of each fault mode, the constraints of operation of radial power systems are considered. 相似文献
