We report on the film formation of surfactant-free, artificial latexes based on copolymers containing maleic anhydride. Different metallic substrates, such as aluminum, steel and magnesium alloys, were coated with three different latexes. A commercial polyester based coating was used as a comparative sample. Two of the latexes were based on polymer with a high Tg (resp. 100 and 130 °C), and one on a polymer with a Tg of −70 °C. The wetting of the substrates could be optimized by etching the metal substrate, acidic or alkaline, leading to homogenous film formation and improved adhesion. For aluminum substrates an alkaline pretreatment improved the adhesion with the polymer films, whereas for magnesium the acidic pretreatment improved the adhesion. Furthermore, acid pretreatment increased the corrosion resistance of the coated magnesium substrate, when compared to an alkaline pretreatment. The films formed from latex displayed comparable or better anti-corrosive properties when compared to the commercial polyester.  相似文献

Decreased triacylglycerol synthesis within hepatocytes due to decreased diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) activity has been suggested to be an important mechanism by which diets rich in fish oil lower plasma triacylglycerol levels. New findings suggest that eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and not docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), lowers plasma triacylglycerol by increased mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation and decreased availability of fatty acids for triacylglycerol synthesis. To contribute to the understanding of the triacylglycerol-lowering mechanism of fish oil, the different metabolic properties of EPA and DHA were studied in rat liver parenchymal cells and isolated rat liver organelles. EPA-CoA was a poorer substrate than DHA-CoA for DGAT in isolated rat liver microsomes, and in the presence of EPA, a markedly lower value for the triacyl[3H]glycerol/diacyl[3H]glycerol ratio was observed. The distribution of [1-14C]palmitic acid was shifted from incorporation into secreted glycerolipids toward oxidation in the presence of EPA (but not DHA) in rat liver parenchymal cells. [1-14C]EPA was oxidized to a much greater extent than [1-14C]DHA in rat liver parenchymal cells, isolated peroxisomes, and especially in purified mitochondria. As the oxidation of EPA was more effective and sensitive to the CPT-I inhibitor, etomoxir, when measured in a combination of both mitochondria and peroxisomes, we hypothesized that both are involved in EPA oxidation, whereas DHA mainly is oxidized in peroxisomes. In rats, EPA treatment lowered plasma triacylglycerol and increased hepatic mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation and carnitine palmitoyltransferase (CPT)-I activity in both the presence and absence of malonyl-CoA. Whereas only EPA treatment increased the mRNA levels of CPT-I, DHA treatment increased the mRNA levels of peroxisomal fatty acyl-CoA oxidase and fatty acid binding protein more effectively than EPA treatment. In conclusion, EPA and DHA affect cellular organelles in relation to their substrate preference. The present study strongly supports the hypothesis that EPA, and not DHA, lowers plasma triacylglycerol by increased mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation.  相似文献

This paper presents results on the influence of the nonionic surfactant on the properties of vinyl acetate/VeoVa10® and vinyl acetate/ethylene emulsions and paints made thereof. Emulsions were prepared in which the concentration of the nonionic surfactant and its degree of ethoxylation were varied. An increase of the nonionic emulsifier concentration and of the length of the ethylene oxide chain leads to dispersions with smaller particles and higher viscosities. Using these emulsions as binders in high pigmented paints, it was observed that the pigment binding capacity of the interior paints goes through a maximum which is located at a emulsifier concentration of about 2–3% and at a degree of ethoxylation of 17–28 mol ethylene oxide (EO). In (semi-) gloss paints, the gloss of the paint films improves with an increase of the emulsifier concentration and reaches a constant value at around 4% or a degree of ethoxylation of ca. 17 EO-moieties per molecule. The blocking of the films shows a drastic increase at a concentration above 4% and at a chain length of greater than 17 EO-moieties.  相似文献

Hue scale adjustment factors have been determined for CIELAB using the Munsell system. They have been found to vary significantly as a function of hue angle. A formula has been derived based on the 2° observer color‐matching functions that models the chroma scale of the Munsell system much more accurately than CIELAB using the same opponent color relationships. In this formula, hue differences can be calculated from hue angle differences, hue scale adjustment factors, and chroma. The hue scale adjustment factors based on hue angle required for the Munsell system have been derived. The variability by hue angle of these factors is such that an analytical hue scale adjustment function as those in CMC or BFD appears insufficient. The formation of propylene oxide from propene by direct oxidation with air has been studied with a series of new microporous amorphous catalysts containing isolated active sites. Although the materials showed good activities as heterogeneous oxidation catalysts, the formation of acroleine dominated in the gas phase. Oxidation selectivities of the various catalysts are reported. Significant PO-formation was only observed under reaction conditions involving pressures larger 5 bar. Promoting effects of solvents or additives like acetaldehyde could be excluded. Best results were observed in continuous gas phase flow experiments. All catalysts studied proved detrimental to the PO-yield and control experiments pointed to catalyst free autoxidation conditions. A factorial design followed by an optimization of the reaction conditions provided PO-selectivities of 60 % at propene conversion of 11.4 % (T = 290 °C; pressure = 25 bar; propene content = 75 %; total feed = 39.5 ml/min) at continuous reaction conditions. By passivating the inner reactor surfaces with gold, a PO-selectivity of 62.8 % at a propene conversion of 15.1 % could be obtained, indicating, that autoxidation of propene may become a serious contender in the search for improved production processes. This work is a case study of attempted catalyzed selective oxidation with air illustrating potential pitfalls and misleading interpretations.  相似文献

Corallopyronin A is a myxobacterial compound with potent antibacterial activity. Feeding experiments with labelled precursors resulted in the deduction of all biosynthetic building blocks for corallopyronin A and revealed an unusual feature of this metabolite: its biosynthesis from two chains, one solely PKS‐derived and the other NRPS/PKS‐derived. The starter molecule is believed to be carbonic acid or its monomethyl ester. The putative corallopyronin A biosynthetic gene cluster is a trans‐AT‐type mixed PKS/NRPS gene cluster, containing a β‐branching cassette. Striking features of this gene cluster are a NRPS‐like adenylation domain that is part of a PKS‐type module and is believed to be responsible for glycine incorporation, as well as split modules with individual domains occurring on different genes. It is suggested that CorB is a trans‐acting ketosynthase and it is proposed that it catalyses the Claisen condensation responsible for the interconnection of the two chains. Additionally, the stereochemistry of corallopyronin A was deduced by a combination of a modified Mosher's method and ozonolysis with subsequent chiral GC analyses.  相似文献

Cold-smoked (Salmo salar) salmon samples were surface-inoculated with a cocktail of three nisin-resistant strains of L. monocytogenes (PSU1, PSU2 and PSU21) to a level of approximately 5 x 10(2) or 5 x 10(5) CFU/cm2 of salmon surface. The inoculated smoked salmon samples were vacuum-packaged with control film (no nisin) or nisin-coated plastic films and stored at either 4 or 10 degrees C. When the inoculated smoked salmon samples were packaged with film coated with 2000 IU/cm2 of nisin, a reduction of 3.9 log CFU/cm2 (compared with control) was achieved at either temperature for samples inoculated with 5 x 10(2) CFU/cm(2 of L. monocytogenes after 56 (4 degrees C) and 49 (10 degrees C) days of storage while reductions of 2.4 and 0.7 log CFU/cm2 were achieved for samples inoculated with a high level of L. monocytogenes (5 x 10(5) CFU/cm2) after 58 (4 degrees C) and 43 (10 degrees C) days, respectively. For samples packaged in film coated with 500 IU/cm2 of nisin, reductions of 0.5 and 1.7 log CFU/cm2 were achieved for samples inoculated with a low level of L. monocytogenes (5 x 10(2) CFU/cm2) after 56 (4 degrees C) and 49 (10 degrees C) days of storage while reductions of 1.8 and 0.8 log CFU/cm2 were achieved for samples inoculated with high level of L. monocytogenes after 58(4 degrees C) and 43 (10 degrees C) days, respectively. In addition, nisin inhibited the proliferation of background microbiota on smoked salmon in a concentration-dependent manner at both storage temperatures although the bacteriostatic effect was more pronounced at refrigeration temperature. This work highlights the potential for incorporating nisin into plastic films for enhancing the microbial safety of smoked salmon as well as controlling its microbial spoilage.  相似文献

In this study, the performance of two new chromogenic plating media (CBC and BCM) was compared with two standard selective plating media (PEMBA and MYP) recommended by food authorities for isolation, identification and enumeration of Bacillus cereus. The four media types were challenged with a strain set comprising 100 B. cereus isolates from different origins and with different toxigenic potentials (40 food isolates, 40 isolates from food borne outbreaks and 20 clinical isolates). Additionally, the performance of the plating media for analysis of complex samples was assessed using naturally contaminated foods. Our survey showed that the new chromogenic media represent a good alternative to the conventional standard media. Especially, if laboratory staff are not highly trained in identification of B. cereus, the conventional media could lead to substantial misidentification and underestimation of food borne illness caused by B. cereus. However, there are some B. cereus strains that could not even be detected with this new type of chromogenic media. After the fatal misidentification of a highly toxic strain, other methods for a conclusive identification of B. cereus are needed. Sequence analysis of the plcR gene, a pleiotropic regulator of various virulence factors and B. cereus specific enzymes, revealed a significant correlation between atypical colony appearance and specific variances within the plcR gene sequences of those strains. The current concept of selective plating media, utilising PlcR regulated enzyme activities for differentiation purposes, should therefore be reconsidered and research should be geared towards culture independent methods.  相似文献
