The toxicity of Etretinate, a retinoid compound, on the male reproductive system was studied in male rats. The drug was administered for four weeks at the dose levels of 0 (control: Vehicle, Peanut oil), 5 and 25 mg/kg/day. The animals were then allowed to mate, and their male reproductive functions and organs were examined in detail. No significant changes due to toxicity were observed in male reproductive functions and organs in the 5 mg/kg/day group after the 4-week treatment. In contrast, males in the 25 mg/kg/day group showed drug-related changes in their reproductive performance (decrease of mating ability and fertility rate), testosterone blood level, sperm head counts, sperm viability and number in the caudal epididymis, organ weight and in the histopathology of their reproductive organs (atrophy of seminiferous tubules, necrosis of spermatocytes and spermatids, vacuolation of nuclei of spermatocytes and spermatids). Even though Etretinate belong to the retinoid group of compounds, the changes seen in the 25 mg/kg/day group were almost the same as those observed in Vitamin A-deficient animals. In conclusion, there is a correlation between changes due to toxicity observed for parameters of male fertility and for histopathological evaluation of the testis of rats that receiving high dose, treatment with Etretinate for 4 weeks.  相似文献

The luminescence properties of Tm3+ in La1−χTmχTa7O19 solid solutions were examined systematically. The substitution of Tm3+ for La3+ was carried out by a decomposition reaction of nitrates involving the corresponding constituents at 1200 °C in air. X-Ray diffraction patterns of the solid solutions indicated that the crystal structure consisted of a network of (La1−χ3+Tmχstaggered|3+, Ta5+)—O2− polyhedra interstratified with a double layer of Ta5+—O2− polyhedra. According to the excitation and emission spectra, the most intense emission was found near 460 nm and quenched above χ=0.14 in La1−χTmχTa7O19. Also, lifetime results verified that the emission could be assigned not to the transition 1G4 å 3H6, but to the transition 1D2 å3H4. Upon cathode ray excitation some emissions of Tm3+ were superimposed by a broad emission due to the clusters of Ta5+—O2− polyhedra. As a result, a low dimensional arrangement of Tm3+ was much more preferable for getting intense emission because it reduced the energy migration between Tm3+ ions.  相似文献

Right facial nerve palsy in a 58-year-old woman was due to sarcoidosis demonstrated by Gd-DTPA enhanced MRI. Abnormal enhancement of the right VIIth cranial nerve in the distal internal acoustic canal was seen on MRI. The enhancing lesion was smaller after 1 month of prednisolone 50 mg day-1. This is the first report on facial nerve involvement in neurosarcoidosis examined by Gd-DTPA enhanced MRI. The use of Gd-DTPA enhanced MRI with thin slicing, e.g. 3 mm slice thickness and 1 mm interslice gap, is effective in detecting small extramedullary lesions.  相似文献

A high-performance and high-reliability magnetically levitated (MAGLEV) superconducting magnet (SCM) was developed. Its heat generation per unit time by the electromagnetic forces due to the spatially fifth ripple magnetic fields from levitation coils is under 2 W at the frequency range in which vehicles are levitated. The vibration mode of inner vessels that makes the largest contribution to heat generation in SCMs is clarified, the torsion mode. A modeling method to analyze SCM vibration, which considers the effect of the bogie frames of a vehicle, is examined, and heat generation in SCMs is calculated from the vibration of the inner vessel. Using the numerical analysis method, new SCMs combined with new bogie frames for the Yamanashi Test Line are designed. Good performance in vibration and heat generation of these SCMs is predicted by numerical analysis  相似文献

N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), a disinfection byproduct of water and wastewater treatment processes, is a potent carcinogen. We investigated its occurrence and the potential for its formation by chlorination (NDMA-FP2Cl) and by chloramination (NDMA-FP2NHCl) in ground water and river water in Tokyo. To characterize NDMA precursors, we revealed their molecular weight distributions in ground water and river water. We collected 23 ground water and 18 river water samples and analyzed NDMA by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. NDMA-FP2Cl was evaluated by chlorinating water samples with free chlorine for 24 h at pH 7.0 while residual free chlorine was kept at 1.0-2.0 mgCl2/L. NDMA-FP2NHCl was evaluated by dosing water samples with monochloramine at 140 mgCl2/L for 10 days at pH 6.8. NDMA precursors and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) were fractionated by filtration through 30-, 3-, and 0.5 kDa membranes. NDMA concentrations were <0.5-5.2 ng/L (median: 0.9 ng/L) in ground water and <0.5-3.4 ng/L (2.2 ng/L) in river water. NDMA concentrations in ground water were slightly lower than or comparable to those in river water. Concentrations of NDMA-FP2Cl were not much higher than concentrations of NDMA except in samples containing high concentrations of NH3 and NDMA precursors. The increased NDMA was possibly caused by reactions between NDMA precursors and monochloramine unintentionally formed by the reaction between free chlorine and NH3 in the samples. NDMA precursors ranged from 4 to 84 ng-NDMA eq./L in ground water and from 11 to 185 ng-NDMA eq./L in river water. Those in ground water were significantly lower than those in river water, suggesting that NDMA precursors were biodegraded, adsorbed, or volatilized during infiltration. The molecular weight of NDMA precursors in river water was dominant in the <0.5 kDa fraction, followed by 0.5-3 kDa. However, their distribution was inconsistent in ground water: one was dominant in the <0.5 kDa fraction, and the other in 0.5-3 kDa. Molecular weight distributions of NDMA precursors were very different from those of DOC. This is the first study to reveal the widespread occurrence and characterization of NDMA precursors in ground water.  相似文献

Ecodesigns for nano-sized noble metal particles were investigated by a new liquid-solid (metal oxide-alcohol) system. We have reduced noble metal oxides as low-emission starting materials by ultrasound and tried to fabricate various noble metal nanoparticles (Ag, Au, Pt, Pd) at room temperature, Noble metal oxides were investigated during decomposition. These reductions are ecologically clean, because many noble metal oxides are not toxic, and during decomposition, O/sub 2/ is evolved. By choosing suitable conditions, it is reasonable to expect that this simple sonochemical process can be extended to obtain nano-sized metal particles.  相似文献

High concentrations of manganese and iron in the Saigon River are major problems for the water supply in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Viet Nam. To identify their sources and leaching processes, we surveyed water quality along the Saigon River and ran batch leaching tests using soil and sediment samples. Two important leaching processes were identified: acidic leaching from acid sulfate soil (ASS) in the middle reaches of the river, and Mn dissolution and Fe reduction from sediments in the downstream reaches. Low pH caused the concurrent release of Fe and Mn from the ASS. In contrast, anoxia caused the release of Fe but not Mn from the sediments, whereas low pH facilitated Mn dissolution. Sediments are a more important source of Mn because of their higher Mn contents (10 times) and release rates (14 times) than those from ASS.  相似文献

The stages of mental rotation of complicated three-dimensional figures were studied using the intracortical interaction mapping. The role of the parietal areas in the mental rotation was shown. The frontal, central and the right temporal areas are involved in the prerotation setup. Both frontal areas and the left temporo-parieto-occipital areas participate in decision making and verbal response. In the case of unsuccessful task solving the process stops at the prerotation setup stage. During the verbal control the zones of the predominant connections at the first 3 stages are close to those in the background activity.  相似文献
