The structural, optical, and morphological properties of Co60 γ irradiation on poly(ethylene terephthalate) polymer samples were studied with X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Raman spectroscopy. The diffraction pattern of virgin sample showed that the polymer was semicrystalline in nature. However, because of irradiation, the crystallinity decreased up to a dose level of 110 kGy and increased up to 300 kGy. The crystallite size, strain, and dislocation were calculated from the XRD data, and the crystallite size decreased from 291.07 to 346.90 Å. The absorption edge shifted from 315 to 330 nm, and the band gap of the samples decreased from 3.79 to 3.66 eV. The SEM micrographs showed radial bulging along with inhomogeneous liner exfoliation, and also, a rocky shape pattern with different sizes was observed. A significant change was found in the Raman spectra of the γ-irradiated polymer at the highest dose. The results of the structural, optical, and morphological studies show recovery characteristics at the highest dose level of 300 kGy. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2012  相似文献

Abstract  

Silica functionalized Mn(acac)3 was prepared and employed for the one-pot oxidative synthesis of 2-arylbenzimidazoles, 2-arylbenzothiazoles; and oxidation of benzoins to benzils under air atmosphere using water as the reaction medium. Environmentally friendly procedure, chemoselectivity and excellent yields are main advantages of this procedure. In all the cases, the catalyst was found to be highly active and selective; passes hot filtration test successfully; and could be recycled several times with a slight loss of activity.  相似文献

The present paper deals with the characterization of a ferroelectric liquid crystal–nanoparticle (FLC–NP) composite system. The dielectric, electrical and polarization property of the FLC–NP composite system have been studied as a function of temperature and frequency. Ferroelectric Cu-doped ZnO (Cu–ZnO) nanoparticles have been added to the pure ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) Felix 17/100. The nanoparticles are bigger in size as compared to FLC molecules; therefore, they distort the existing geometry of FLC matrix and set up an antiparallel correlation with the dipole moments of the host FLC molecules. This antiparallel correlation of guest–host geometry reduces the net ferroelectricity of the composite system and modifies all the physical properties of the pure FLC. The change in properties has been analysed and explained in the light of guest–host interaction.  相似文献

The polycrystalline praseodymium zinc zirconate Pr2ZnZrO6 (PZZO) is synthesized at 1,150 °C by means of solid state reaction technique. X-ray structural analysis confirmed the formation of a single phase monoclinic structure at room temperature. The nonzero intercept in the Nyquist plot indicates the presence of an arc for frequency higher than the maximum frequency measured (1 MHz). Comparative study of the impedance and modulus plot confirm the contribution from grain and grain-boundary and grain-boundary contribution dominates in the material. The activation energy of the compound calculated from imaginary part of impedance plot is found to be 0.442 eV which suggests that the polaron hopping is responsible for conduction mechanism in PZZO. Semiconducting behavior of the material is observed. Summerfield scaling shows a quite satisfying overlap of the data at different temperatures on a single master curve.  相似文献

Busulfan, a bifunctional alkylating agent, is a mainstay of myeloablative preparative regimens before hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The apparent oral clearance of busulfan expressed relative to body surface area is 2-3-fold higher in children 1-4 years old than it is in adults. The first step in busulfan elimination is the formation of a tetrahydrothiophenium ion (THT+) in a glutathione S-transferase-catalyzed reaction. We present computer simulations that demonstrate that the ratio of the AUC of THT+ to that of busulfan over 6 h [(AUC(THT+)/AUC(BU))(0-->6)] is highly correlated (r2 = 0.805) with the determinants of THT+ formation and is virtually independent of the determinants of its elimination (r2 = 0.0201). We compared (AUC(THT+)/AUC(BU))(0-->6) determined in 14 children (0.5-4 years) to that of 11 adults (12-54 years) and found a 1.5-fold elevation in the area ratio (P = 0.0098) and a similarly significant increase in busulfan apparent oral clearance expressed relative to body surface area (P = 0.042). The only common explanation for the elevated busulfan apparent oral clearance and (AUC(THT+)/AUC(BU))(0-->6) is an enhanced ability of children to metabolize busulfan through glutathione conjugation.  相似文献

This study examines the effect of microstructurally different regions on the hot corrosion of tungsten inert gas weldment in 2.25Cr-1Mo (T22) boiler tube steel. Various regions of weldment were oxidized in molten salt Na2SO4-60% V2O5 environment at 900 °C. The base metal was found to oxidize at much higher rates than the weld metal and the heat-affected zone. Oxide scales formed in the three regions were compared by scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive of X-ray analysis, X-ray diffraction pattern, and electron probe microanalysis. The research investigates the formation of inner scales with free Cr over the HAZ.  相似文献

Electron beam welding plays an important role in the aerospace industry where components like sensors,gears,actuators and air frames used in aircraft and rocket engines were welded using this technique.Welding is normally performed in a vacuum to avoid the scatter of electron due to the presence of gas molecules in the atmosphere and hence electron beam welding process provides the greater results.But still joining of dissimilar metals is challenging.This paper represents review of process,generation and distribution of heat source various input parameters,materials,microstructure,mechanical strength and the possibilities of joining dissimilar metals using electron beam welding.  相似文献

Aloe‐vera‐incorporated polycaprolactone nanofibrous matrixes were prepared by an electrospinning method. These developed matrixes were evaluated for their water absorption capacity, water vapor permeability, and contact angle, and, in an in vivo animal model, wound‐healing ability. The incorporation of the herbal drug made the matrixes hydrophilic with improved water retention and permeability properties. The in vivo studies were carried out in a rat model and showed improved results with respect to healing.
