The strain‐induced crystallization of natural rubber (NR) was investigated by the measurement of the tear energy of a crosslinked blend consisting of NR and noncrystalline styrene–butadiene rubber (SBR). When NR was dispersed into the SBR matrix, the tear energy of SBR increased at various temperatures and tear rates. After the application of the principle of time–temperature superposition to the tear energy according to the Williams–Landel–Ferry equation, two distinct curves were found for the NR/SBR blend with respect to the reduced tear rate, despite the fact that the tear energy of SBR or the SBR/SBR blend gave its own single composite curve. When the fatty acid in the NR/SBR blend was removed by acetone extraction, the tear energy of the blend drew a single composite curve. The conversion of the two curves into the single composite curve for the NR/SBR blend suggested that the tear energy depended on the strain‐induced crystallization of NR dispersed in the SBR matrix, which was suppressed by the removal of the fatty acid. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have developed a meter-scale light emitting diode (LED)-embedded light fabric and its weaving machine for application to a light device for fabric ceilings, which have recently become desired for lightweight safe ceilings in Japan and other countries with frequent earthquakes. The LED fabric structure is 1.2-m-wide woven fabric that has 5-mm-wide LED chip-mounted printed circuit board (PCB) tapes as wefts. LEDs are mounted on the tape of PCBs with a reel-to-reel chip mounting system. Then, the LED-mounted tapes are woven with a developed automatic looming machine that aligns the weft with an accuracy of 0.9 mm, which is suitable for precise arrangement of LEDs and wiring to power supply. A 1.2 × 1.2 m LED-embedded light fabric weighing 320 g/m2 was woven. The luminance of the LED fabric is 353 lx at a distance of 1 m, which is the luminance of conventional office lighting. The temperature increase of LEDs without a rigid cooling aluminum plate is only 5.8 °C, and the LED fabric is flexible enough to sustain 1,000 bends down to a radius of 3 mm. This LED fabric and its weaving technology will lead to light devices that have lightweight, large area, and high flexibility for fabric ceilings, walls, and other large areas in homes and offices. 相似文献

Abstract— To understand actual viewing conditions at home is important for TV design. And the preferred luminance level of LCD TVs under actual viewing conditions is also important in order to obtain both good picture quality and low power consumption. The actual viewing conditions of households and the preferred luminance levels was investigated. In a field test of 83 households, the display luminance, screen illuminance, and viewing locations were measured on site. In laboratory experiments, young and elderly subjects adjusted the luminance of an LCD‐TV screen to their preferred levels under different screen illuminance levels, angular screen sizes, and average luminance levels (ALL) of the images. As a result, two equations, which represent the preferred luminance level of LCD‐TV screens corresponding to different viewing conditions for young and elderly subjects were obtained. When the ALL of the images was 25% and the screen illuminance and angular screen size were set at 100 lx and 20°, respectively, the preferred luminance was 1 60 cd/m2 for the young subjects and 248 cd/m2 for the elderly subjects. By using the setting of the preferred luminance of an LCD TV under actual viewing conditions, it is possible to conserve energy consumption. 相似文献

For radiation monitoring at the site of nuclear power plant accidents such as Fukushima Daiichi, radiation detectors not only for gamma photons but also for alpha and beta particles are needed because some nuclear fission products emit beta particles and gamma photons and some nuclear fuels contain plutonium that emits alpha particles. We developed a radiation detector that can simultaneously monitor alpha and beta particles and gamma photons for radiation monitoring. The detector consists of three-layered scintillators optically coupled to each other and coupled to a photomultiplier tube. The first layer, which is made of a thin plastic scintillator (decay time: 2.4 ns), detects alpha particles. The second layer, which is made of a thin Gd(2)SiO(5) (GSO) scintillator with 1.5 mol.% Ce (decay time: 35 ns), detects beta particles. The third layer made of a thin GSO scintillator with 0.4 mol.% Ce (decay time: 70 ns) detects gamma photons. By using pulse shape discrimination, the count rates of these layers can be separated. With individual irradiation of alpha and beta particles and gamma photons, the count rate of the first layer represented the alpha particles, the second layer represented the beta particles, and the third layer represented the gamma photons. Even with simultaneous irradiation of the alpha and beta particles and the gamma photons, these three types of radiation can be individually monitored using correction for the gamma detection efficiency of the second and third layers. Our developed alpha, beta, and gamma detector is simple and will be useful for radiation monitoring, especially at nuclear power plant accident sites or other applications where the simultaneous measurements of alpha and beta particles and gamma photons are required. 相似文献

A constitutive equation taking into account corner formation on the yield surface and the Bauschinger effect is developed. The behaviour of circular long tubes subjected to external pressure and axial load under plane strain and generalized plane-strain conditions are analyzed in conjunction with the proposed constitutive equation. The influence of axial load, the Bauschinger effect and corner formation, including the corner angle, and the mobility of the corner axis to the direction of stress history upon such global deformation behaviour as maximum pressure, pressure vs displacement relation and axial strain, are clarified. With regard to local deformation, these effects on the strain rate and strain localization, surface unevenness and shear band formation from the highly strained internal surface are investigated. 相似文献

Gross and per unit agricultural land area nitrogen balance (NB G and NB A, respectively) in agricultural areas were estimated with a nitrogen-flow model for 13 Asian countries, for regions within a country, and for individual grid cells, from 1970 to 2005. Country- and regional-level estimates showed that NB A is higher in Japan and South Korea than in other Asian countries, but has recently been stable or decreasing. The contribution of inorganic fertilizer to the nitrogen input is decreasing, whereas that of livestock manure is increasing in these countries. In many other countries, the primary nitrogen source is inorganic fertilizer and its input rate and NB A have increased sharply since the 1980s. NB A of some Chinese provinces and Indian states were as high as those of Japan and South Korea. The results suggest that regional-scale estimation is necessary because of the large spatial variability in nitrogen flows within a country. Based on the NB G estimated for each 0.5°?×?0.5° grid cell, nitrogen outflow from agriculture into major river basins was evaluated. About 20?% of the nitrogen balance flowed into China??s Changjiang River basin, versus 10?% into the Ganges River basin. Uncertainties in the basic data and estimation results, and the use of an alternative measure of a country??s environmental performance were discussed. 相似文献

Peculiar magnetic domain walls produced in Heusler alloys, which have attracted renewed interest due to their potential application to actuators and spintronic devices, are studied here using electron holography. The observations reveal unexpectedly narrow magnetic domain walls, the width of which showed perfect agreement with that of the antiphase boundaries (APB, e.g., only 3 nm). While the results can be explained by the significant depression of ferromagnetism due to the local chemical disorder, the electron phase shift indicates that ferromagnetic correlation still remains in the APB region. 相似文献

The Fukushima nuclear accident raised the importance of flooding study in nuclear reactor buildings. It is known that the external flooding can be attributed to natural causes, while the internal flooding is caused by the piping ruptures, tank failure or the actuation of fire suppression systems. The building flooding process can damage the safety-related components and systems, which needs to study carefully. In order to simulate this phenomenon which is accompanied by complex flow with free surface, a particle method based on Lagrangian approach named explicit moving particle simulation (EMPS) method, is employed in this analysis. Verification and validation analyses are carried out. The verification problems are a hydrostatic analysis and a water spreading to investigate the differences of the particle wall and polygon wall boundary models, while the validation studies of two experiments of dam-break induced flooding show good agreements. Afterwards, the internal flooding process in AP1000 is simulated by assuming a break of the in-containment refueling water storage tank as an example. The results achieved so far indicate that the EMPS method is capable to simulate the internal flooding process in the nuclear reactor buildings. 相似文献

In many industries, there are applications that require the joining of stainless steel and copper components; therefore, the welding of dissimilar stainless steel/copper joints is a common process. For this investigation, the optimal brazing conditions and suitable filler metals for laser brazing of stainless steel/copper lap joints were studied. Tensile shear force increases with increases in the laser spot diameter or in the laser irradiation angle, which is associated with increased bonding width; however, as bonding width approaches 2 mm, tensile shear force reaches a saturated value due to fracturing at the HAZ of the Cu base plate. In order to obtain joints with high tensile shear strength, laser brazing was optimized by using Cu–Si-based filler metal under the following conditions: laser power, 4 kW; spot diameter, 3 mm; laser irradiation angle, 80°; irradiation position shift, 0.6 mm; brazing speed, 0.30 m/min; and filler metal feed speed, 0.30 min. Concerning filler metals, it was found that the Ni–Cu type showed relatively large tensile shear force even at high welding speeds in comparison with those of the Cu–Si, Cu, Cu–Ni, Ni–Cu and Ni types, respectively. 相似文献
