A simple method was developed that uses microbubbles as templates to fabricate hollow microspheres covered with a biodegradable polymer. By stably keeping microbubbles with the diameter of about 2 µm inside a solvent droplet dissolving a biodegradable polymer and then slowly drying the solvent, hollow microspheres that had an average inner diameter of about 2 µm and a shell thickness of about 500 nm were obtained. This simple method was successfully used to easily fabricate uniform hollow microspheres covered with poly-lactic acid (PLA) by using uniform 2-µm-diameter bubbles as templates.  相似文献

Core/shell heterostructure nanowires are one of the most interesting mesoscopic systems potentially suitable for the study of quantum interference phenomena. Here, we report on experimental observations of both the Aharonov-Bohm (h/e) and the Altshuler-Aronov-Spivak (h/2e) oscillations in radial core/shell (In2O3/InOx) heterostructure nanowires. For a long channel device with a length-to-width ratio of about 33, the magnetoresistance curves at low temperatures exhibited a crossover from low-field h/2e oscillation to high-field h/ e oscillation. The relationship between the oscillation period and the core width was investigated for freestanding or substrate-supported devices and indicated that the current flows dominantly through the core/shell interface.  相似文献

Space charge profile and consequent field strength profile were obtained by solving the continuity and Poisson's simultaneous equations. Experimental electron deposition curve and radiation-induced conductivity curve were used for calculation. The calculated results explained well the observed replacement current and electrical breakdown phenomena. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα) has various physiological functions such as lipid and glucose metabolism, inflammation and fibrosis in living organisms. Many types of ligand molecules such as phthalate and adipate esters control these physiological functions. In the present study, to elucidate the dependence of PPARα properties on ligand binding, we investigated stable structures and electronic properties for the complexes of PPARα and phthalate as well as adipate esters, which are used as a plasticizer, by molecular simulations based on molecular mechanics and molecular orbital methods. Furthermore, to elucidate the influence of these esters in vivo, we injected them into male mice and observed the change in the expression of PPARα-related enzymes. The comparison between the calculated and observed results indicates that the change in the expression has a correlation with the size of energy gaps between highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals of the complexes with mouse PPARα and esters.  相似文献

Ceramide levels controlled by the sphingomyelin (SM) cycle have essential roles in cancer cell fate through the regulation of cell proliferation, death, metastasis, and drug resistance. Recent studies suggest that exosomes confer cancer malignancy. However, the relationship between ceramide metabolism and exosome-mediated cancer malignancy is unclear. In this study, we elucidated the role of ceramide metabolism via the SM cycle in exosomes and drug resistance in human leukemia HL-60 and adriamycin-resistant HL-60/ADR cells. HL-60/ADR cells showed significantly increased exosome production and release compared with parental chemosensitive HL-60 cells. In HL-60/ADR cells, increased SM synthase (SMS) activity reduced ceramide levels, although released exosomes exhibited a high ceramide ratio in both HL-60- and HL-60/ADR-derived exosomes. Overexpression of SMS2 but not SMS1 suppressed intracellular ceramide levels and accelerated exosome production and release in HL-60 cells. Notably, HL-60/ADR exosomes conferred cell proliferation and doxorubicin resistance properties to HL-60 cells. Finally, microRNA analysis in HL-60 and HL-60/ADR cells and exosomes showed that miR-484 elevation in HL-60/ADR cells and exosomes was associated with exosome-mediated cell proliferation. This suggests that intracellular ceramide metabolism by SMS2 regulates exosome production and release, leading to acquisition of drug resistance and enhanced cell proliferation in leukemia cells.  相似文献

Biological information processing systems can be regarded as one of the ultimate decentralized systems, and have been expected to provide various fruitful ideas in the engineering field. Among these systems, the immune system plays an important role in coping with dynamically changing environments by constructing self-nonself recognition networks among different species of antibodies, and has many interesting features from an engineering stand-point, such as learning, self-organizing abilities, and so on. However, it has not yet been applied to engineering fields. Therefore we pay close attention to the immune system and attempt to construct an artificial immune network for robot control. In this study we propose a new interpretation of the roles of antibodies in terms of self-assertion and subordination, and apply this idea to a gait coordination problem of a hexapod robot as a practical example. Several computer simulations are carried out, and the robustness against disturbances and the feasibility of our method are confirmed.
