A real-time system large-scale-integrated circuit (LSI) for digital video cassette recorder (DVCR) encoding/decoding and MPEG-2 decoding is implemented on a dual-issue RISC processor (DRISC) with dedicated hardware optimized for video-block processing. The DRISC achieves 972-MOPS software performance and can execute fixed-length data processing at the block level as well as processing at the macro-block level and above for the DVCR/MPEG-2. The dedicated hardware for variable-length coding/decoding can encode and decode codes for both the DVCR and the MPEG-2 by changing translation tables. The recovery characteristics of optical hydrogen sensor, using Pd film, have been investigated in order to clarify their distinctive
behaviour showing three-stage curve. The obvious two peaks observed in differentiated reflectance as a function of elapsed
time during hydrogen desorption were found to correspond to the phase boundaries of Pd hydride. The phase transformation determined
by these peaks was consistent with that observed within situ X-ray diffraction analysis. Moreover, the change in resistivity with hydrogen desorption indicated distinctive recovery curve,
which was also connected with the phase transformation. These results clarified that the hydrogen desorption obviously consisted

Relatively uniform microspheres containing a hydrophilic monomer, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), were prepared by employing a swelling method of uniform seed droplets. A uniform seed emulsion composed mainly of styrene (St) was prepared by the Shirasu porous glass (SPG) membrane emulsification technique; this was mixed with a secondary emulsion composed mainly of HEMA/St or HEMA/MMA (methyl methacrylate) prepared by a homogenizer for swelling. The swollen droplets obtained were polymerized at 75°C under a nitrogen atmosphere. The uniform microsphere with a higher content of HEMA was obtained successfully by the swelling method while it failed by a direct emulsification method. The effects of the composition of the oil phase and the inhibitor in the continuous phase on the incorporated fraction of HEMA, the morphology of particles, and monomer conversion were investigated. It was found that the incorporated fraction of HEMA increased with increasing its feed fraction, and more HEMA was incorporated into the microsphere when HEMA/MMA was used as the oil phase of the secondary emulsion rather than HEMA/St. Although the final conversion was very low when the feed fraction of HEMA was higher, it can be increased to more than 80% by using an adequate amount of ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as a crosslinker and NaNO2 as an inhibitor in the aqueous phase. Various microspheres with different morphologies such as spherical, snowmanlike, and popcornlike were observed, depending on composition of the oil phase. The virtual diving experience learning system of “Ama”, Japanese traditional female divers, has been developed to simulate how divers move in a virtual space using the diving interface and utilizing an accelerometer and a gyroscope. This interface not only detects the diving motion but also outputs the movement. Diving motion is shown in the ways of hand motion while standing. Although this makes it possible for a learner to understand the divers’ actions more clearly, this system’s difficulty is in visualizing a divers’ actions including their hands or bodies. Therefore, our study focuses on developing the operation system to reproduce actual ways of Amas’ diving with a virtual human body in a virtual space. First, the motion capture was done in an underwater condition. In the next process, the virtual human body was created. Finally, with the motion viewer, the more vivid actions of the Ama were successfully reproduced much more than in previous attempts. The effects of thermally annealing Bi–Mn–Co–Sb2O3-added ZnO varistors on their electrical degradation were investigated. For the samples added with 0.01 mol% Sb2O3 and without Sb2O3, no marked difference in the nonlinearity index α of the voltage–current (V–I) characteristics was observed upon electrical degradation for the annealed and nonannealed samples. Upon increasing the amount of Sb2O3 added, the values of α increased after electrical degradation for the annealed samples. Moreover, the value of α after electrical degradation was proportional to the width of gauss function (width) of the X-ray diffraction peak for Zn2.33Sb0.67O4-type spinel particles under various annealing conditions. The added Sb2O3 did not dissolve in the ZnO grains but became segregated at grain boundaries. Therefore, it is speculated that the increase in the width of the spinel particles is due to the increase in the numbers of fine spinel particles at grain boundaries and triple points. Furthermore, it is suggested that the improvement of the electrical degradation is due to the decrease in the mobility of oxide ions or Zn2+ ions owing to their being blocked by uniformly dispersed fine spinel particles at grain boundaries. 相似文献

The high compatibility of fluorene‐based polyester (FBP‐HX) as a polymer matrix for multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) is discussed. A low surface resistivity due to the fine dispersion of MWCNTs in FBP‐HX and polycarbonate (PC) is reported. With a solution‐casting method, a percolation threshold with the addition of between 0.5 and 1.0 wt % MWCNTs was observed in the MWCNT/PC and MWCNT/FBP‐HX composites. Because of the coverage of FBP‐HX on the MWCNTs, a higher surface resistivity and a higher percolation ratio of the MWCNT/FBP‐HX composites were achieved compared with the values for the MWCNT/PC composites. In the MWCNT/FBP‐HX composites, MWCNTs covered with FBP‐HX were observed by scanning electronic microscopy. Because of the coverage of FBP‐HX on the MWCNTs, FBP‐HX interfered with the electrical pathway between the MWCNTs. The MWCNTs in FBP‐HX were covered with a 5‐nm layer of FBP‐HX, but the MWCNTs in the MWCNT/PC composites were in their naked state. MWCNT/PC sheets demonstrated the specific Raman absorption of the MWCNTs only with the addition of MWCNTs of 1 wt % or above because of the coverage of the surface of the composite sheet by naked MWCNTs. In contrast, MWCNT/FBP‐HX retained the behavior of the matrix resin until a 3 wt % addition of MWCNTs was reached because of the coverage of MWCNTs by the FBP‐HX resin, induced by its high wettability. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Self-assembly of nano-sized arrays by casting a dilute solution of a guest material on the friction-transferred poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (FT-PTFE) substrate was newly discovered. Long axis of the rod-like structures forming the arrays is aligned perpendicular to the chain direction of FT-PTFE, and accordingly, the arrays are highly anisotropic. This phenomenon was observed for aqueous or organic solutions of polymers or organic materials. Each rod-like structure forming the arrays is composed of small grains. The arrays in question are formed regardless to the crystallinity of the guest materials. The formation mechanism of the nano-sized arrays is still unclear. However, we guess that they are formed as a result of microscopic flow pattern at the edge of the solution film. The arrays in question may be a new type of dissipative structure. 相似文献

Fairly uniform copolymer particles of methyl acrylate (MA), butyl acrylate (BA), or butyl methacrylate (BMA) were synthesized via Shirasu porous glass (SPG) membrane and followed by suspension polymerization. After a single‐step SPG emulsification, the emulsion composed mainly of the monomers. Hydrophobic additives of dioctyl phthalate (DOP), polystyrene molecules, and an oil‐soluble initiator, suspended in an aqueous phase containing poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) stabilizer and sodium nitrite inhibitor (NaNO2), were subsequently subjected to suspension polymerization. Two‐phase copolymers with a soft phase and a hard phase were obtained. The composite particles of poly(St‐co‐MA)/PSt were prepared by varying the St/PSt ratios or the DOP amount. The addition of PSt induced a high viscosity at the dispersion phase. The molecular weight slightly increased with increasing St/PSt concentration. The multiple‐phase separation of the St‐rich phase and PMA domains, observed by transmission electron microscopy, was caused by composition drift because the MA reactivity ratio is greater than that of St. The addition of DOP revealed the greater compatibility between the hard‐St and soft‐MA moieties than that without DOP. The phase morphologies of poly(St‐co‐MA), poly(St‐co‐BMA), and their composites with PSt were revealed under the influence of DOP. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
