In this paper, optimal sets of filter coefficients are searched by a meta-heuristic optimization technique called Harmony Search (HS) algorithm for infinite impulse response (IIR) system identification problem. For different optimization problems, HS algorithm undergoes three basic rules; namely Random Selection (RS), Harmony Memory Consideration (HMC), and Pitch Adjustment (PA) rules, which are inspired from the process that the musicians use to improvise a perfect state of harmony with the consummate skill of blending notes in tune. With the help of the properly selected control parameters, a perfect balance is achieved in exploration and exploitation in searching phases. The detailed analysis of simulation results emphasizes the strength of HS algorithm to find the near-global optimal solution, quality of convergence profile and the speed of convergence while tested against standard benchmark examples for same and reduced order models. 相似文献

The rheological behavior of an aqueous solution of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and polypyrrole (PPY) dispersions prepared by ferric chloride (FeCl3)‐catalyzed polymerization of pyrrole was investigated at 12°C using a coaxial rotational viscometer. The results show that the addition of a low dose of FeCl3 to the PVA solution greatly influences its rheology. The prominent shear‐thickening (dilatant) nature of PVA turns significantly pseudoplastic (shear thinning) in the presence of FeCl3. Polypyrrole‐loaded PVA was obtained in a stable, optically clear dispersion by in situ polymerization of pyrrole in an aqueous PVA solution (5%) using FeCl3 as the oxidative catalyst at 12°C. The PPY dispersions in aqueous PVA systems having a low loading of PPY and low Fe+3 content retain the dilatant character of an aqueous PVA solution; however, for an aqueous PVA system having a relatively high PPY loading and also a high Fe+3 content, prominent pseudoplastic (shear thinning) behavior is exhibited. The odd novel rheological patterns exhibited by a PVA solution in the absence and presence of FeCl3 and the PVA–PPY dispersions containing FeCl3 under different sets of conditions are explained on the basis of the complexation of PVA by Fe+3 and related ions and also as a consequence of some degree of H‐bonding and chemical grafting between the support polymer PVA and the PPY formed. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Epoxy resin is widely used for coatings, adhesives, castings, electrical insulation materials, and other applications. However, unsolved problems still remain in its applications. The main problem is low toughness: cured epoxy resin is rather brittle, with poor resistance to the propagation of cracks derived from the internal stress generated by shrinkage in the cooling process from cure temperature to room temperature. The objective of this study was to improve the flexibility and toughness of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A based epoxy resin with a liquid rubber. For this purpose, amine‐terminated polybutadiene (ATPB) was synthesized. The product was characterized by Fourier transform infrared and NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. ATPB‐modified epoxy networks were made by curing with an ambient‐temperature curing agent, triethylene tetramine. We varied the epoxy/liquid rubber compositions to study the effect of toughener concentration on the impact and thermal properties. Rubber‐based nanocomposites were prepared with octadecyl amine modified sodium montmorillonite clay and styrene–butadiene rubber with different styrene contents (15, 23, and 40%). The solvent used to prepare the nanocomposites, the cure conditions, and the cure system were also varied to determine their effect on the properties of the nanocomposites. All the composites were characterized with X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The XRD studies revealed exfoliation for the modified clay–rubber composites. The TEM photomicrographs showed a uniform distribution of the modified clay in the rubber matrix. The thickness of the particles in the exfoliated composites was around 10–15 nm. Although the FTIR study of the unmodified and modified clays showed extra peaks due to the intercalation of the amine chains into the gallery, the spectra for the rubber–clay nanocomposites were almost the same because of the presence of a very small amount of clay in the rubber matrix. All the modified clay–rubber nanocomposites displayed improved mechanical strength. The styrene content of the rubber had a pronounced effect on the properties of the nanocomposites. With increasing styrene content, the improvement in the properties was greater. Dicumyl peroxide and sulfur cure systems displayed similar strength, but higher elongation and slightly lower modulus values were obtained with the sulfur cure system. The use of strontium-containing hydroxyapatite (Sr-HA) as a biomaterial has been reported recently. In vitro and in vivo studies have shown that Sr-HA promotes osteoblast response and stimulates new bone formation. In order to extend its usage to major load-bearing applications, such as artificial hip replacement, it has been proposed that the material could be used in the form of a coating on implant surfaces. This paper reports a preliminary study of biocompatibility of plasma sprayed Sr-HA coatings on a metallic substrate. Coatings of Sr-HA containing 10 mol% Sr2+ was produced on titanium alloy substrates. The coating exhibited good bonding with the substrate. The bioactivity of Sr-HA coating was evaluated in vitro by immersion in simulated body fluid (SBF). After immersion in SBF, Sr-HA coating exhibited great ability to induce apatite precipitation on its surface. The possible effects of cell-materials interactions of Sr-HA coating were examined by culturing osteoprecursor cells (OPC1) on coating surfaces. The effect of Sr-HA was also compared to a hydroxyapatite (HA) coating, which is widely used in orthopedics and dentistry. The results indicated that Sr-HA coating had good biocompatibility with human osteoblasts. OPC1 cells survived and proliferated well on the surface of coating. Sr-HA coating promoted OPC1 cells attachment, and more local contacts were produced on the surface. The presence of Sr stimulated OPC1 cell differentiation and ALP expression. No deleterious effect on ECM formation and mineralization was found with Sr-HA coating. The results indicated that Sr-HA coating had good mechanical properties and bioactivity in vitro. 相似文献

In this paper, a new adaptive neuro controller for trajectory tracking is developed for robot manipulators without velocity measurements, taking into account the actuator constraints. The controller is based on structural knowledge of the dynamics of the robot and measurements of joint positions only. The system uncertainty, which may include payload variation, unknown nonlinearities and torque disturbances is estimated by a Chebyshev neural network (CNN). The adaptive controller represents an amalgamation of a filtering technique to generate pseudo filtered tracking error signals (for the elimination of velocity measurements) and the theory of function approximation using CNN. The proposed controller ensures the local asymptotic stability and the convergence of the position error to zero. The proposed controller is robust not only to structured uncertainty such as payload variation but also to unstructured one such as disturbances. Moreover the computational complexity of the proposed controller is reduced as compared to the multilayered neural network controller. The validity of the control scheme is shown by simulation results of a two-link robot manipulator. Simulation results are also provided to compare the proposed controller with a controller where velocity is estimated by finite difference methods using position measurements only. 相似文献

A delay‐dependent criterion for the global asymptotic stability of a class of uncertain discrete‐time state‐delayed systems using various combinations of quantization and overflow nonlinearities is presented. The proposed criterion is in the form of a linear matrix inequality and, hence, computationally tractable. A numerical example highlighting the usefulness of the proposed criterion is given. Our study illustrates the development of a microfluidics (MF) platform combining fluorescence microscopy and femtosecond/picosecond-resolved spectroscopy to investigate ultrafast chemical processes in liquid-phase diffusion-controlled reactions. By controlling the flow rates of two reactants in a specially designed MF chip, sub-100 ns time resolution for the exploration of chemical intermediates of the reaction in the MF channel has been achieved. Our system clearly rules out the possibility of formation of any intermediate reaction product in a so-called fast ionic reaction between sodium hydroxide and phenolphthalein, and reveals a microsecond time scale associated with the formation of the reaction product. We have also used the developed system for the investigation of intermediate states in the molecular recognition of various macromolecular self-assemblies (micelles) and genomic DNA by small organic ligands (Hoechst 33258 and ethidium bromide). We propose our MF-based system to be an alternative to the existing millisecond-resolved "stopped-flow" technique for a broad range of time-resolved (sub-100 ns to minutes) experiments on complex chemical∕biological systems. 相似文献
