In order to investigate the overall atomic hydrogen background and the dynamic characteristics of wall pumping/fuelling phenomenon, a permeation probe system has been developed and applied in the spherical tokamak QUEST. Reliability of measurements, within ±3% accuracy and a positive correlation with the hydrogen line emission over three orders of magnitude have been demonstrated for more than 3000 various plasma discharges. By comparison of the experimental permeation (flux) curves with the numerically simulated curves, the net incident atomic hydrogen flux is evaluated in the range of 1 × 1019 H m?2 s?1 to 4 × 1020 H m?2 s?1. The atomic flux has been investigated as a function of various plasma operation parameters like RF power, gas pressure and magnetic configuration. Using the static particle balance and permeation measurements, the progress in wall conditioning has been investigated. An inverse correlation between the atomic hydrogen flux and improvement in wall pumping has been observed over the two campaigns.  相似文献

In this study, new butt welding technique was proposed to join polymeric materials in which the polymeric material is softened by a heated tool due to the Joule effect heating of the electric current flow through the tool, and the coalescence of material is done by the stirring action due to the tool rotation. A 3 mm-thick Polycarbonate (PC) sheets were joined in various joining conditions, from which joining mechanism, mechanical properties of joints and process parameters affecting joint performance were investigated. In the experiments, in situ observation with a CCD camera and material temperature measurement during the process, as well as the observation of surface appearance and cross section of the joint and tensile test were performed for these purposes. It was shown from the in situ observation and material temperature measurement that the molten and softened region is formed around the weld tool. It was also shown that sufficient heat input was required to form sound joints with acceptable performance, which depended upon the joining speed and amount of electric current flow through the tool. The observation of joint appearance and cross section revealed that the joint with comparable thickness to base material was obtained under the condition of revolution pitch below 0.08 mm, defined by the ratio of joining speed to tool rotation. It is noticed that joints obtained from the proper conditions have the same mechanical properties as the base material, and that the process parameters of this method were tool rotation speed, welding speed and amount of electric current. These results suggest proposed method is useful for joining the polymeric materials.  相似文献

This paper describes numerical studies on the dynamic behavior of experimental slope models, including various inclined weak layers. These studies were conducted by simulation of shaking table tests using the material point method (MPM), which allows seamless treatment of various considerations, from elastic behavior to discontinuous collapse behavior of slopes, on the basis of an elasto-plastic constitutive law. The simulation results showed that the failure modes, progressive deformation and downward sliding of the numerical slope models, which were similar to that observed in the shaking table tests, can be obtained using the numerical method. In addition, sensitivity analyses of the numerical models used in this study were performed to determine the effects of mesh size, number of particles per cell (PPC) and damping constants on the simulation results. The results of these analyses indicated the use of fine meshes and high damping constants seems to produce sensible results and reduce numerical noises, respectively.  相似文献

We present a dynamic simulation of a wire rope involving both contacts with a winch drum and hydraulic systems using the finite element method. Rapid winch operation often causes disorderly winding of the wire rope, which is an important quality problem. Dynamic simulation is, therefore, required for design of the hydraulic winch system on construction machinery. The wire rope is modeled using by truss elements considering large displacement motion. The contact between the wire rope and the winch drum is modeled using by variable-length truss elements and bilinear spring elements. An improved Newton method is proposed for nonlinear dynamic analysis. Simulation results show that some lever operations result in rope looseness and intense pressure fluctuation. Lingual antimicrobial peptide (LAP) belongs to the β-defensin family in cattle and is found in bovine milk. However, it is unclear whether LAP is involved in the early immune response to mammary infection. The aim of the study was to investigate the changes of LAP concentration in milk after intramammary challenge with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), the gram-negative bacteria cell membrane component, in dairy cows. Milk was collected before and after LPS or phosphate-buffered saline (control) challenge every hour for 12 h on d 0 and twice daily from d 1 to 7. Somatic cell count (SCC), LAP concentration, and lactoperoxidase (LPO) activity in the milk were measured. Somatic cell count started to increase at 2 h postchallenge and remained high until d 5 (694 ± 187 × 103 to >1,000 ± 0 × 103 cells/mL at d 0; >1,000 ± 0 × 103 cells/mL at d 1 to 3; 684 ± 194 × 103 to 829 ± 108 × 103 cells/mL at d 4; 527 ± 197 × 103 to 656 ± 145 × 103 cells/mL at d 5). Somatic cell count increased in the control cows, although the levels were lower compared with those in the LPS challenge group. The LAP concentration in milk increased significantly at 2 h post-LPS-challenge and was maintained at high levels until d 2 (8.6 ± 0.6 to 17.5 ± 2.3 nM). In the control cow infused with phosphate-buffered saline, there was no increase of LAP concentration in milk (5.1 ± 0.6 to 7.2 ± 0.8 nM). Increase of LPO activity in the milk was observed at 6 h after LPS challenge and continued until d 3 (4.7 ± 0.3 to 9.4 ± 1.1 U). No increase of LPO activity was observed in the milk of control cows. The increase and subsequent decrease in LAP concentration after LPS challenge occurred earlier than those of LPO activity. In multiparous cows with LPS infusion, there was a significantly negative relationship between the days leading to the basal levels in LAP concentration and LPO activity (r = −0.75). These results suggest that LPS induces secretion of LAP into milk within hours and that LPO may have a synergistic antimicrobial function with LAP in mammary glands of dairy cows.  相似文献

We report preliminary heat capacity and vapor pressure measurements of the first and second layers of 4He adsorbed on ZYX graphite. ZYX is known to have much better crystallinity than Grafoil, the most commonly-used exfoliated graphite substrate, such as a ten-times larger platelet size. This allows us to distinguish different phases in 2D 4He much more clearly and may provide qualitatively different insights into this system. We found a significantly asymmetric density-dependence of the heat-capacity peak associated with the $\sqrt{3}\times\sqrt{3}$ phase formation comparing with that obtained with Grafoil. The 2nd-layer promotion density is determined as 11.8±0.3 nm?2 from the heat-capacity measurement of low density samples in the 2nd layer and vapor pressure measurement.  相似文献

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is among the most powerful methods to determine the surface chemical properties of carbon materials. Because heat-treated graphite oxide includes various defects, analyses of the structure by XPS help us understand the structures of various carbon materials. Thus, XPS spectra of graphene-related materials containing various functional groups and other defects on edges and in the basal plane were simulated and full width at half maximums (FWHMs) and peak shifts were obtained by density functional theory calculation. Shifts of whole C1s spectra were influenced by the electron-withdrawing functional groups such as C=O-containing functional groups. FWHMs of the main peak of C1s spectra were influenced by mainly electron-withdrawing functional groups in addition to defects such as vacancy, pentagons, and heptagons. Analyses using only XPS provide us limited information, even though the peak tops and FHWMs of simulated XPS spectra are used for assignment. Combination use of peak shifts and FWHMs of XPS spectra, infrared spectroscopy, and density functional theory calculation provided more reliable assignments of defects including oxygen-containing functional groups of carbon materials than commonly used methods using only peak shifts of XPS spectra.  相似文献

Pedestrian–vehicle conflicts are considered as a common safety problem at signalized intersections. The threat to pedestrian safety is mainly related to the interaction with turning vehicles, especially left-turners (left-hand traffic system). This study aims to analyze the lag/gap acceptance behavior of left-turners considering pedestrian movement at signalized crosswalks. Furthermore, the severity of pedestrian–vehicle conflicts is addressed by analyzing vehicle speeds at the conflict points. User behavior at several signalized intersections in Japan is observed by using video cameras. It is assumed that pedestrian movements have their origin at either the near-side (the side of the exiting vehicular traffic) or far-side of the crosswalk. Accepted/rejected lags and gaps are extracted, classified depending on the direction of pedestrian movement, and modeled by using Cumulative Weibull distribution function. The results show that drivers tend to accept shorter lags/gaps between near-side pedestrians compared to far side pedestrians. Furthermore, drivers tend to accept short lags while being conservative about short gaps. Simultaneously vehicles clear the conflict area with significantly higher speeds when accepting lags with single pedestrians. This indicates that the conflicts that occur at low pedestrian demand levels are more severe compared to those at high demand levels.  相似文献

We have performed molecular dynamics simulations of bombardment of graphitic boron nitride (gBN) by energetic boron and nitrogen particles in order to examine the roles of ion bombardment in ion/plasma-assisted deposition of cubic boron nitride (cBN) thin films. We have found that the interaction of the energetic particles with gBN creates four-fold coordinated local structures (sp3-formation) inside gBN. We have also found that clusters of sp3-formations are created as a result of successive bombardment, some of which have cBN-like structures. On the basis of these results, we propose an atomic-scale model of cBN nucleation in which successive sp3-formation converts gBN into cBN.  相似文献
