This paper presents a contingency screening method and a framework for its on-line implementation. The proposed method carries out contingency screening and on-line stability assessment with respect to first-swing transient stability. For that purpose, it utilizes the single machine equivalent method and aims at improving the prior developed contingency screening approaches. In order to determine vulnerability of the system with respect to a particular contingency, only one time-domain simulation needs to be performed. An early stop criteria is proposed so that in a majority of the cases the simulation can be terminated after a few hundred milliseconds of simulated system response. The method’s outcome is an assessment of the system’s stability and a classification of each considered contingency. The contingencies are categorized by exploiting parameters of an equivalent one machine infinite bus system. A novel island detection approach, appropriate for an on-line application since it utilizes efficient algorithms from graph theory and enables stability assessment of individual islands, is also introduced. The New England and New York system as well as the large-scale model of the Continental-European interconnected system are used to test the proposed method with respect to assessment accuracy and computation time. 相似文献

Lipolysaccharide was isolated from Chromatium vinosum by phenol/water extraction. The lipopolysaccharide is found exclusively in the phenol phase and can be cleaved into a sugar moiety and a lipid A fraction by hydrolysis in 10% acetic acid at 100 degrees C for 3-4 h. The sugar moiety contains the neutral sugars 3-O-methyl-D-ribose, D-ribose, L-arabinose, mannosamine and glucose, and smaller quantities of D-rhamnose, D-glycero-D-manno-heptose (tentatively identified), quinovosamine and 2-keto-3-deoxyoctonate. L-glycero-D-manno-heptose was not detected. The 2-keto-3-deoxyoctonate linkage in C. vinosum lipopolysaccharide is more resistant to acid hydrolysis than that of Escherichia coli. The lipid A fraction contains glucosamine, mannose and the fatty acids of the lipopolysaccharide. The major fatty acid is beta-hydroxymyristic acid, with smaller amounts of lauric and palmitic acids as well as 14-carbon mono-unsaturated fatty acid, also being present. The phosphorus content of the C. vinosum lipopolysaccharide was found to be approximately 0.1%. Erythrocytes sensitized with alkali-treated C. vinosum lipopolysaccharide were agglutinated by antisera prepared against heat-killed cells. Untreated or heat-treated lipopolysaccharide did not sensitize erythrocytes. The lethal toxicity to mice of the C. vinosum lipopolysaccharide is about one-tenth as that from Salmonella abortus equi. 相似文献

Combining environmental with employment objectives, ecological tax reform (ETR) envisages a double dividend. While research has mainly focused on the socio-economic and environmental impacts of ETR, there is less literature on the social responses. This paper gives an overview and history of German ETR as well as investigating the understanding of perceptions and attitudes towards ETR of those being “subject to tax”. The research is based on qualitative social research methods. As with the other PETRAS papers, interviews were conducted with policy-makers and business leaders and focus groups were formed with lay persons. The results show that responses of policy-makers and business leaders are modest. Although some criticisms about the specific design of the German ETR remain, complaints towards ETR are settled. Attitudes appear influenced by more fundamental convictions such as economic interest or altruistic views. In contrast, ETR appears to politicise common people. Attitudes are influenced by the overall comprehension of the ETR concept, the expected impacts, perceived information deficits, as well as a general distrust in politics. Our data show that the linking of environmental and employment objectives is not understood and not welcomed. In order to increase social acceptance, the paper discusses refocusing ETR on environmental objectives, modestly increasing the share of ETR revenue spent for environmental purposes, removing inconsistencies in the ETR design, and improving information policy. 相似文献

The impact of thiophene in the fuel gas of a commercial solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system is investigated for concentrations up to 400 ppmV. Based on the measured voltage–current curves, an empiric correlation for the estimation of the expectable power output of the investigated SOFC system when operated with sulfur containing fuel gases is derived. An interrelation between the open circuit voltage (OCV) and the sulfur concentration of the investigated hydrocarboneous fuel gas is presented and discussed based on corresponding model simulations. The reduction of the steam reforming (STR) activity of the anode cermet material and of the catalytic partial oxidation catalyst used for the fuel gas processing in the investigated SOFC system are found important factors regarding the power output reduction induced by sulfur traces in the fuel gas of SOFCs. 相似文献

In the long run, the widespread use of slide scanners by pathologists requires an adaptation of teaching methods in histology and cytology in order to target these new possibilities of image processing and presentation via the internet. Accordingly, we were looking for a tool with the possibility to teach microscopic anatomy, histology, and cytology of tissue samples which would be able to combine image data from light and electron microscopes independently of microscope suppliers. With the example of a section through the villus of jejunum, we describe here how to process image data from light and electron microscopes in order to get one image‐stack which allows a correlation of structures from the microscopic anatomic to the cytological level. With commercially available image‐presentation software that we adapted to our needs, we present here a platform which allows for the presentation of this new but also of older material independently of microscope suppliers. X-ray phase-contrast radiography and tomography enable to increase contrast for weakly absorbing materials. Recently, x-ray grating interferometers were developed that extend the possibility of phase-contrast imaging from highly brilliant radiation sources like third-generation synchrotron sources to non-coherent conventional x-ray tube sources. Here, we present the first installation of a three grating x-ray interferometer at a low-coherence wiggler source at the beamline W2 (HARWI II) operated by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht at the second-generation synchrotron storage ring DORIS (DESY, Hamburg, Germany). Using this type of the wiggler insertion device with a millimeter-sized source allows monochromatic phase-contrast imaging of centimeter sized objects with high photon flux. Thus, biological and materials-science imaging applications can highly profit from this imaging modality. The specially designed grating interferometer currently works in the photon energy range from 22 to 30 keV, and the range will be increased by using adapted x-ray optical gratings. Our results of an energy-dependent visibility measurement in comparison to corresponding simulations demonstrate the performance of the new setup. 相似文献

A fundamental practice in process engineering is monitoring the state dynamics of a system. Unfortunately, observability of some states is related to high costs, time, and efforts. The mechanistic event recognition (MER) aims to detect an event (defined as a change of the system with specific significance to the operation of the process) that cannot be directly observed but has some predictable effect on the dynamics of the systems. MER attempts to apply fault diagnosis techniques using mechanistic “recognition” models to describe the process. A systematic method for building recognition models using optimal experimental design tools is presented. As proof of concept, the MER approach to detect organic matter depletion in sequencing batch reactors, measuring only ammonia, dissolved oxygen, and nitroxides is applied. We present a method for mapping the spatial distribution of viscoelastic properties of heterogeneous samples using the atomic force microscope (AFM). By applying a force step load protocol to induce time dependent sample indentations we measured the local creep compliance of the sample. The creep compliance was quantified in terms of the standard linear solid model to give maps of the instant glassy modulus, the equilibrium rubbery modulus, and the retardation time. To reduce the influence of plastic deformations, the sample was preformed with an initial preload step. Different polymer samples with a homogeneous or a heterogeneous material composition on a microscopic scale were investigated. 相似文献

An E. coli strain with deletions in five transaminases (ΔaspC ΔilvE ΔtyrB ΔavtA ΔybfQ) was constructed to be unable to degrade several amino acids. This strain was used as an expression host for the analysis of the amino acid configuration of nonribosomally synthesized peptides, including the novel peptide “xenotetrapeptide” from Xenorhabdus nematophila, by using a combination of labeling experiments and mass spectrometry.
