Mixed convection heat transfer in a lid-driven cavity along with a heated circular hollow cylinder positioned at the center of the cavity has been analyzed numerically. The present study simulates a realistic system such as air-cooled electronic equipment with a heat component or an oven with heater. A Galerkin weighted residual finite element method with a Newton–Raphson iterative algorithm is adopted to solve the governing equations. The computation is carried out for wide ranges of the Richardson numbers, cylinder diameter and solid fluid thermal conductivity ratio. Results are presented in the form of streamlines, isothermal lines, average Nusselt number at the heated surface and fluid temperature in the cavity for the mentioned parameters. It is found that the flow field and temperature distribution strongly depend on the cylinder diameter and also the solid–fluid thermal conductivity ratio at the three convective regimes.  相似文献

This paper deals with the performance investigation of a silica gel/water based on two-stage, four-bed adsorption chiller with different mass allocation between upper and lower beds employing the re-heat scheme. The innovative chiller is powered by waste heat or renewable energy source of temperature between 50 °C and 90 °C with a coolant of inlet temperature 30 °C for air conditioning purpose. The performance of the four-bed adsorption chiller employing the re-heat scheme is compared with that of the two-stage conventional chiller with the re-heat scheme using equal mass allocation. Results show that cooling capacity can be improved with the optimum allocation of adsorbent mass to the upper beds than that of lower beds. Besides, it is observed that the cooling capacity can be improved up to 10.78% while the cooling water temperature is at 20 °C.  相似文献

Linear antenna arrays (LAs) can be used to accurately predict the direction of arrival (DOAs) of various targets of interest in a given area. However, under certain conditions, LA suffers from the problem of ambiguities among the angles of targets, which may result in misinterpretation of such targets. In order to cope up with such ambiguities, various techniques have been proposed. Unfortunately, none of them fully resolved such a problem because of rank deficiency and high computational cost. We aimed to resolve such a problem by proposing an algorithm using differential geometry. The proposed algorithm uses a specially designed doublet antenna array, which is made up of two individual linear arrays. Two angle observation models, ambiguous observation model (AOM) and estimated observation model (EOM), are derived for each individual array. The ambiguous set of angles is contained in the AOM, which is obtained from the corresponding array elements using differential geometry. The EOM for each array, on the other hand, contains estimated angles of all sources impinging signals on each array, as calculated by a direction-finding algorithm such as the genetic algorithm. The algorithm then contrasts the EOM of each array with its AOM, selecting the output of that array whose EOM has the minimum correlation with its corresponding AOM. In comparison to existing techniques, the proposed algorithm improves estimation accuracy and has greater precision in antenna aperture selection, resulting in improved resolution capabilities and the potential to be used more widely in practical scenarios. The simulation results using MATLAB authenticates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.  相似文献

This paper investigates burr generation while drilling of mild steel grade 350. The influences of feed, speed and point angle on burr height, thrust force, torque and chip ratio are investigated to correlate with burr height. It was found that, the burr height reduces gradually with the rise of speed at minimum feed and point angle. At maximum feed and point angle, initially the height rises with speed and then reduces as speed rises further. The maximum burr is 720 μm at 584 rpm. At maximum point angle and speed, the height rises initially and then reduces as the feed rises where the trend is opposite at minimum feed and speed. The maximum burr is 1223.15 μm at 0.25 mm/rev feed. The variation of burr height with point angle is similar to that with the variation of feed. The maximum burr is 1230 μm at 125°point angle. The trends of thrust forces, torques and chip ration with the variation of different parameters are not similar to that of burr height in most of the cases. The complex interaction between strain hardening and thermal softening plays the main role in burr formation for the considered material.  相似文献

Polycrystalline Ba4Ni2?x Zn x Fe36O60 (0.0 ≤x ≤ 1.4) hexagonal ferrite samples have been prepared by conventional solid-state reaction method. Structural and magnetic properties of the prepared samples were then analyzed by the X-ray diffraction technique and with superconducting quantum interface device (SQUID) magnetometer, respectively. Variations of lattice parameters, density, and porosity with Zn content were measured. Magnetic properties such as complex permeability, relative quality factor, loss factor, and saturation magnetization have been investigated as a function of Zn content. The study revealed that Zn content has a significant effect on structural and magnetic properties of the Ba4Ni2Fe36 O 60 hexaferrites.  相似文献

Several UV‐curable formulations containing epoxydiacrylate (EB‐600) oligomer with a tri‐functional monomer, trimethylol propane triacrylate (TMPTA), and photoinitiator Irgcure‐369 were developed to improve the surface of Partex. Filler or extender CaCO3 was incorporated into the solution. Thin polymer films were prepared on glass plate with these formulated solutions and finally applied on polished Partex surface, and both were cured under UV‐radiation. The properties of UV‐cured thin films were studied as a function of CaCO3 concentration. Pendulum hardness and gel content were found to decrease on glass plate with the increase of CaCO3 concentration. Pendulum hardness, scratch hardness, and abrasion resistance of the cured Partex were found to be higher with the increase of CaCO3 content up to 4%. The accelerating effect of dissolved redox mediators has been studied in details in the bio-decolorization processes, but there are little literatures about the non-dissolved redox mediators. Here we describe the accelerating effect of anthraquinone as a redox mediator in the bio-decolorization. Decolorization of azo dyes was carried out experimentally using the salt-tolerant bacteria under immobilized anthraquinone and high salt conditions. Anthraquinone as a redox mediator was able to increase the decolorization rate of azo dyes, and was immobilized by entrapment in calcium alginate (CA), Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-H(3)BO(3) and agar, respectively. The effects of various operating conditions such as anthraquinone bead number, dissolved oxygen, temperature and pH on microbial decolorization were investigated experimentally. The reusability of the anthraquinone immobilization beads was evaluated with repeated-batch decolorization experiments. After four repeated experiments, the decolorization rate of CA immobilized anthraquinone retained over 90% of their original value. The experiments explored a great improvement of the redox mediator application and the new bio-treatment concept.  相似文献

We study the effects of higher‐order chemical reaction and heat generation on coupled heat and mass transfer by MHD mixed convection from a permeable radiating inclined plate with the thermal convective boundary condition. The governing boundary layer equations are formulated and transformed into a set of similarity equations using dimensionless similarity variables developed by Lie group analysis. The resulting equations are then solved numerically using Maple 13 which uses a fourth–fifth order Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg algorithm for solving nonlinear boundary value problems. A representative set of numerical results are displayed graphically and discussed to show some interesting aspects of the parameters: convective heat transfer (γ), the angle of inclination (α), generation order of chemical reaction (n), reaction rate (λ), the Prandtl number (Pr), and the Schmidt number (Sc) on the dimensionless axial velocity, the temperature, and the concentration profiles. Also effects of pertinent parameters on the skin friction factor, the rate of heat, and the rate of mass transfer are obtained and displayed in tabular form. Good agreement is found between the numerical results of the present paper with the earlier published works under some special cases. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The present paper investigates heat and mass transfer over a moving porous plate with hydrodynamic slip and thermal convective boundary conditions and concentration dependent diffusivity. The similarity representation of the system of partial differential equations of the problem is obtained through Lie group analysis. The resulting equations are solved numerically by Maple with Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg fourth–fifth order method. A representative set of results for the physical problem is displayed to illustrate the influence of parameters (velocity slip parameter, convective heat transfer parameter, concentration diffusivity parameter, Prandtl number and Schmidt number) on the dimensionless axial velocity, temperature and concentration field as well as the wall shear stress, the rate of heat transfer and the rate of mass transfer. The analytical solutions for velocity and temperature are obtained. Very good agreements are found between the analytical and numerical results of the present paper with published results.  相似文献
