Stereoscopic/3D image and video quality assessment (IQA/VQA) has become increasing relevant in today's world, owing to the amount of attention that has recently been focused on 3D/stereoscopic cinema, television, gaming, and mobile video. Understanding the quality of experience of human viewers as they watch 3D videos is a complex and multi-disciplinary problem. Toward this end we offer a holistic assessment of the issues that are encountered, survey the progress that has been made towards addressing these issues, discuss ongoing efforts to resolve them, and point up the future challenges that need to be focused on. Important tools in the study of the quality of 3D visual signals are databases of 3D image and video sets, distorted versions of these signals and the results of large-scale studies of human opinions of their quality. We explain the construction of one such tool, the LIVE 3D IQA database, which is the first publicly available 3D IQA database that incorporates ‘true’ depth information along with stereoscopic pairs and human opinion scores. We describe the creation of the database and analyze the performance of a variety of 2D and 3D quality models using the new database. The database as well as the algorithms evaluated are available for researchers in the field to use in order to enable objective comparisons of future algorithms. Finally, we broadly summarize the field of 3D QA focusing on key unresolved problems including stereoscopic distortions, 3D masking, and algorithm development. 相似文献

In this paper the design and optimization of a nonlinear diameter taper, connecting the output section of a gyrotron cavity to the uniform output waveguide section, is presented. The design of a nonlinear taper of a 42 GHz, 200 kW CW gyrotron operating in the TE0,3 cavity mode with axial output collection has been taken as a case study. The taper synthesis has been carried out considering a raised cosine type of nonlinear taper and the analysis is done using a dedicated scattering matrix code. In addition, an improved particle swarm optimization - an evolutionary optimization - algorithm is used for the design optimization of this nonlinear taper. The gelation and rheological properties of beef, pork and poultry meat batters as affected by salt reduction (2·50, 1·25 and 0·00%) were studied by using a Haake rotational viscometer and a thermal scanning rigidity monitor. Beef batters showed a decrease in shear stress with the decrease in salt levels at both high and low shear rates. Pork batter showed a mixed behavior (no definite trend in shear stress versus shear rate) and the poultry meat batters showed a Bingham pseudoplastic behavior, except for the no-salt treatment. During heating the beef batters showed the highest G values followed by the pork and the poultry meat batters. The rigidity modulus profiles exhibited two major transition temperatures at 47-53°C and at 64-76°C. Beef batter with 2·50% salt developed the highest average G value (16·6 kPa) and the poultry batter with 2·50% salt the lowest (7·3 kPa). 相似文献

We consider joint source-channel coding for a memoryless Gaussian source and an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. For a given code defined by an encoder-decoder pair (α, β), its dual code is obtained by interchanging the encoder and decoder: (β, α). It is shown that if a code (α, β) is optimal at rate p channel uses per source sample and if it satisfies a certain uniform continuity condition, then its dual code (β, α) is optimal for rate 1/ρ channel uses per source sample. Further, it is demonstrated that there is a code which is optimal but its dual code is not optimal. Finally, using random coding, we show that there is an optimal code which has an optimal dual. The duality concept is also presented for the cases of (i) binary memoryless equiprobable source and binary-symmetric channel (BSC), and (ii) colored Gaussian source and additive colored Gaussian noise (ACGN) channel 相似文献

In this paper, a hybrid soft computing method for designing specific microstrip antenna is presented. Evolutionary algorithm such as genetic algorithm (GA) is one of the promising ways of finding global optimum solution from a multivariate nonlinear feature space. Being a stochastic iterative algorithm, it requires much computation power when the function to be optimized is complex and time consuming. Various meta-modelling techniques such as neural network, response surface methods, kriging, etc. can be used to model the process under optimization in order to reduce the computational expenses. In this paper, we investigate one such technique – support vector regression (SVR) – to model the complex analytical process. The model, thus obtained, is used for optimization using genetic algorithms. This approach is demonstrated for the design of circular polarized microstrip antenna at 2.6 GHz band. Developments in finite-difference time-domain (FD-TD) computational modeling of Maxwell's equations, super-computer technology, and computed tomography (CT) imagery open the possibility of accurate numerical simulation of electromagnetic (EM) wave interactions with specific, complex, biological tissue structures. One application of this technology is in the area of treatment planning for EM hyperthermia. In this paper, we report the first highly automated CT image segmentation and interpolation scheme applied to model patient-specific EM hyperthermia. This novel system is based on sophisticated tools from the artificial intelligence, computer vision, and computer graphics disciplines. It permits CT-based patient-specific hyperthermia models to be constructed without tedious manual contouring on digitizing pads or CRT screens. The system permits in principle near real-time assistance in hyperthermia treatment planning. We apply this system to interpret actual patient CT data, reconstructing a 3-D model of the human thigh from a collection of 29 serial CT images at 10 mm intervals. Then, using FD-TD, we obtain 2-D and 3-D models of EM hyperthermia of this thigh due to a waveguide applicator. We find that different results are obtained from the 2-D and 3-D models, and conclude that full 3-D tissue models are required for future clinical usage. 相似文献
