AgBiVMo oxide catalytic membrane for selective oxidation of propane to acrolein

A metal ions (Ag, Bi, V, Mo) modified sol–gel method was used to prepare a mesoporous Ag_0.01Bi_0.85V_0.54Mo_0.45O₄ catalytic membrane which was used in the selective oxidation of propane to acrolein. By optimizing the preparation parameters, a thin and perfect catalytically active membrane was successfully prepared. SEM results showed that the membrane thickness is 5 μm. XRD results revealed that Ag_0.01Bi_0.85V_0.54Mo_0.45O₄ with a Scheelite structure, which is catalytically active for the selective oxidation of propane to acrolein, was formed in the catalytic membrane only when AgBiVMoO concentrations were higher than 40%. Catalytic reaction results demonstrated that the selective oxidation of propane could be controlled to a certain degree, such as to acrolein, in the catalytic membrane reactor (CMR) compared to the fixed bed reactor (FBR). For example, a selectivity of 54.85% for acrolein in the liquid phase was obtained in the CMR, while only 8.31% was achieved in the FBR.     

近断层脉冲型地震动作用下面板堆石坝的动力响应

越来越多的高土石坝正在西部地区建设或规划中,其中许多位于发震断裂带附近,遭遇近场强震的概率随着大坝数量的增加而增加,近断层脉冲型地震动作用下大坝地震响应特性亟待研究。本文选取10组台湾集集地震实测加速度时程,结合200 m级的面板堆石坝开展动力有限元分析,研究脉冲和非脉冲地震动作用对面板堆石坝的加速度、水平位移以及面板顺坡向应力的影响。结果表明,与非脉冲型地震动相比,脉冲型地震动对大坝堆石体的水平位移和面板顺坡向应力的影响较大,影响程度随着PGV/PGA(地面峰值速度/地面峰值加速度)的增大而增大。因此,在高地震区修建高土石坝时应对脉冲型地震进行专门研究,综合评价大坝的地震安全性和极限抗震能力。

A molecular dynamics simulation study on the crystallization of 22,8-polyurethane

By means of the molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, the crystallization mechanism of 22,8-polyurethane which contains hydrogen-bond units is investigated and the results show that the crystallization process at a fixed temperature can be characterized by three stages: (1) The extended chain collapses to a globular random coil; (2) The random coil reorganizes into an ordered lamellar structure; (3) Accompanied with the segments clustering due to the hydrogen-bond formation, the lamellar develops with local defects. Two kinds of hydrogen-bond, which are formed between NH group and CO group (N-H?OC), and between NH group and urethane alkoxy oxygen (N-H?O), respectively, are found to play an important role in the crystallization process of 22,8-polyurethane. Furthermore, the effect of temperature on the crystallization is also studied by selecting three temperatures 200, 300 and 400 K. The lower the crystal temperature is, the slower the crystallization rate is and the stronger the hydrogen-bonding interactions are presented. This is in harmony with the experimental results.     

Application of a rice field experimental error distribution function to nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizer response model analysis

A distribution function of rice yield deviations from the mean was developed from field experiments with 555 plots at 16 sites in Zhejiang province, China, for three years. The deviation distribution in interval of 50kg/ha appeared as a symmetrical distribution with a high peak (Mean=0.279 [kg/ha], SD=240.686 [kg/ha]). Normality test using Kolmogrove-Smirnov test between the observed cumulative distribution and the normal cumulative distribution function indicates that the observed deviation distribution is not normal. An empirical exponential cumulative distribution function was developed. The distribution function was used to remove outliers during the development of a rice yield fertilizer response model, based on data from a non-replicated NPK field experiment.

Synthesis of the Silver Nanofluid by ASNSS Process

Arc Spray Nanoparticle Synthesis System (ASNSS) has been used to prepare the silver nanofluids in this study. The metal electrodes under the electrical discharge will melt and evaporate rapidly and condense to form the nanoparticles in the dielectric fluid at lower temperature and produce the suspended nanoparticle fluid. Thus, the mechanism of the ASNSS process is superheating the electrodes by plasma to form metallic nuclei and supercooling these nuclei by dielectric liquid to produce nanofluid. This study considers the different controlling parameters such as discharge current,discharge voltage, pulse-duration time, electrode diameter, and the temperature of dielectric liquid. The optimally operated parameters can be obtained to produce the finer particle size in nanofluid. The results indicate the silver electrodes in alcohol fluid will produce the spherical nanosilver particles. The mean particle size of silver in different dielectric liquid temperatures of-40, -20, 0, and 10℃ is about13.4, 15.8, 17.5, and 21.6 nm, respectively. This indicates that the well suspended fluid can be obtained by controlling the lower dielectric fluid temperature.
