A series of benzylphenols has been evaluated as antioxidants for paraffin wax at 160 C. Introduction of the benzyl group to thepara- and/or ortho-positions to the hydroxyl group on the benzene ring was shown to improve antioxidative activities of phenols. Excellent activities have been observed with benzylpyrocatechols and benzyl-resorcinol. Antioxidant activities of benzylphenol compounds increased with the decrease of13C NMR chemical shifts (δ) of the ipsocarbon of the OH substituent.  相似文献

N‐Isopropylacrylamide/acrylic acid copolymer hydrogels were synthesized with ultrasound. The thermoresponsive phase behaviors of gels synthesized with ultrasound (US gels) were investigated and compared with those of gels synthesized in the absence of ultrasound (FR gels). The US gels showed thermoresponsive swelling behavior with a large hysteresis over a wide range of temperatures around its phase‐transition temperature. The hysteresis became larger with an increasing copolymerized acrylic acid content. The US gels were also characterized from the viewpoint of chemical, hydration, and macroscopic physical structures. Little difference was observed in the chemical and hydration structures of the FR gels and US gels. The inhibition of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) is an effective approach for therapy. Owing to their large binding surface areas to target proteins, macrocyclic peptides are suitable molecules for PPI inhibition. In this study, we developed single-chain tandem macrocyclic peptides (STaMPtides) that inhibits the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor 2 (VEGFR2). They were artificially designed to comprise two different VEGFR2-binding macrocyclic peptides linked in tandem by peptide linkers and secreted by Corynebacterium glutamicum. Most potent VEGFR2-inhibitory STaMPtides with length-optimized linkers exhibited >1000 times stronger inhibitory activity than their parental monomeric peptides, possibly due to the avidity effect of heterodimerization. Our approach of using STaMPtides for PPI inhibition may be used to inhibit other extracellular factors, such as growth factors and cytokines.  相似文献

To achieve a high-efficiency silicon nanowire (SiNW) solar cell, surface passivation technique is very important because a SiNW array has a large surface area. We successfully prepared by atomic layer deposition (ALD) high-quality aluminum oxide (Al2O3) film for passivation on the whole surface of the SiNW arrays. The minority carrier lifetime of the Al2O3-depositedSiNW arrays with bulk silicon substrate was improved to 27 μs at the optimum annealing condition. To remove the effect of bulk silicon, the effective diffusion length of minority carriers in the SiNW array was estimated by simple equations and a device simulator. As a result, it was revealed that the effective diffusion length in the SiNW arrays increased from 3.25 to 13.5 μm by depositing Al2O3 and post-annealing at 400°C. This improvement of the diffusion length is very important for application to solar cells, and Al2O3 deposited by ALD is a promising passivation material for a structure with high aspect ratio such as SiNW arrays.  相似文献

Silicon nanowire (SiNW) arrays were prepared on silicon substrates by metal-assisted chemical etching and peeled from the substrates, and their optical properties were measured. The absorption coefficient of the SiNW arrays was higher than that for the bulk silicon over the entire region. The absorption coefficient of a SiNW array composed of 10-μm-long nanowires was much higher than the theoretical absorptance of a 10-μm-thick flat Si wafer, suggesting that SiNW arrays exhibit strong optical confinement. To reveal the reason for this strong optical confinement demonstrated by SiNW arrays, angular distribution functions of their transmittance were experimentally determined. The results suggest that Mie-related scattering plays a significant role in the strong optical confinement of SiNW arrays.  相似文献

Radiation tolerance of a type IIa synthetic diamond detector was examined from irradiation of mono-energetic 14 MeV neutrons. Measurements of IV (current–voltage) characteristics and energy spectrum for 5.486 MeV alpha particles were performed after neutron irradiation. In the IV characteristics measurement, enhancement of rectification was observed after neutron irradiation of up to 2.0 × 1012 n/cm2. Concurrently with the enhancement of rectification, significant decrease in signal amplitude was observed in energy spectrum measurement for alpha particles. It is considered that these changes were due to increase in the concentration of defects acting as shallow energy levels in the forbidden band. For neutron irradiation of higher than 1.6 × 1013 n/cm2, weakening of the rectification characteristics and recovery of the signal amplitude were observed. These changes imply that deep energy levels, which were also considered to be introduced by defects, were dominant and weakened the effects of the shallow energy levels. Increase in the concentration of the deep trapping levels resulted in gradual decrease of the signal amplitude and degradation in the energy resolution. The peak for the alpha particles was obtained up to 5.5 × 1013 n/cm2.  相似文献

Formations of graded distribution of SiC ceramic particles within the hollow cylindrical shaped Al/SiC functionally graded materials (FGMs) fabricated by centrifugal solid-particle method (CSPM) and centrifugal mixed-powder method (CMPM) under huge centrifugal force are experimentally and theoretically investigated. The movement of SiC ceramic particles in viscous liquid under centrifugal force is explained based on Stoke's law. The effect of compositional gradient of particles on viscosity is taken into account. Also, the effect of temperature distribution on viscosity and density are considered. A computer code to simulate the formation of compositional gradient in the Al/SiC FGMs fabricated by CSPM and CMPM is developed. From the results, it is found that the volume fraction of SiC ceramic particles can be graded from the inner to the outer surface of hollow cylindrical shaped Al/SiC FGMs by CSPM. Meanwhile by CMPM, the SiC ceramic particles can be dispersed on the outer surface of hollow cylindrical shaped Al/SiC FGMs. The graded distribution in Al/SiC FGMs under huge centrifugal force is found to be significantly affected by the mold temperature but less affected by the temperature of molten Al and casting atmosphere.  相似文献

Increasing the reaction temperature of the living cationic polymerization of isobutylene is crucial for industrial production due to the cost of refrigeration. The reaction temperature increase was achieved with an accelerated reaction rate using a flow reaction system. The polymerization conditions, including the flow reactor design, were based on the results of kinetic studies. Utilizing a milli‐scale flow reactor, polyisobutylene, which has a narrow molecular weight distribution, was obtained within a considerably short residence time at a high temperature. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the value of Mw/Mn correlates with the product of the Reynolds number and the angle of collision.  相似文献

This study investigated a parameter that determines an optimum condition of the content of the ionic group and the concentration of outer solution for high‐performance electro‐driven polymer hydrogel membranes. The optimum condition for quick bending was determined by a simple method that identified the initial conditions based on Donnan equilibrium theory. Since the bending behavior depends on the initial conditions of the ionic group content and the concentration of the outer solution, it can be predicted by the ratio of the ionic concentrations at the membrane–solution interface; the inverse of the Donnan ratio (1/K) at the initial condition. The bending rate of the membranes showed a maximum value at around 1/K = 0.15. The relationship between several interrelated control factors and the bending dynamics of the gel membranes was established by using the initial system parameters alone. 1/K is the effective simple parameter to determine the optimum condition of the content of the ionic group and the concentration of the outer solution for high‐performance membranes. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Submicrometer SiO2-Al2O3 powders with compositions of 46.5 to 76.6 wt% Al2O3 were prepared by hydrolysis of mixed alkoxides. Phase change, mullite composition, and particle size of powders with heating were analyzed by DTA, XRD, IR, BET, and TEM. As-produced amorphous powders partially transformed to mullite and Al-Si spinel at around 980°C. The compositions of mullite produced at 1400° and 1550°C were richer in Al2O3 than the compositions of stable mullite solid solutions predicted from the phase diagram of the SiO2-Al2O3 system. Particle size decreased with increasing Al2O3 content. The sintered densities depended upon the amount of SiO2-rich glassy phase formed during sintering and the green density expressed as a function of particle size.  相似文献
