The copolymer from D ,L -lactide and poly(tetramethyene ether glycol) (PTMG) was prepared in bulk with an isotributyl aluminum–water–phosphoric acid complex catalyst as the initiator and characterized by H-NMR, GPC, and DSC. The effects of the temperature and the amount of PTMG on the polymerization rate and the molecular weight of copolymers were studied. The behavior of the degradation and delivery rate of Levonorgestrel microspheres in vitro was observed. A new class of potent, orally active phenyl piperazine-based GH secretagogues have been discovered from attempts to mimic the arrangement of the phenyl substituent in the spiroindanyl piperidine and spiroindoline sulfonamide privileged structures of 4 and 1, respectively. High concentrations of Zn2+ are found in presynaptic terminals of excitatory neurons in the CNS. Zn2+ can be released during synaptic activity and modulate postsynaptic receptors, but little is known about the possibility that Zn2+ may enter postsynaptic cells and produce dynamic changes in the intracellular Zn2+ concentration ([Zn2+]i). We used fura-2 and magfura-2 to detect the consequences of Zn2+ influx in cultured neurons under conditions that restrict changes in intracellular Ca2+ and Mg2+ concentrations. The resulting ratio changes for both dyes were reversed completely by the Zn2+ chelator, N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethylenediamine, indicating that these dyes are measuring changes in [Zn2+]i. We found that fura-2 was useful in measuring small increases in [Zn2+]i associated with exposure to Zn2+ alone that may be mediated by a Na+/Ca2+ exchanger. Magfura-2, which has a lower affinity for Zn2+, was more useful in measuring larger agonist-stimulated increases in [Zn2+]i. The coapplication of 300 microM Zn2+ and 100 microM glutamate/10 microM glycine resulted in a [Zn2+]i increase that was approximately 40-100 nM in magnitude and could be inhibited by the NMDA receptor antagonist, MK-801 (30 microM), or extracellular Na+. This suggests that Zn2+ influx can occur through at least two different pathways, leading to varying increases in [Zn2+]i. N-acetyltransferase (NAT) activity was determined by incubation of purified Enterobacter aerogenes enzyme with 2-aminofluorene (2-AF) as the substrate, followed by high pressure liquid chromatography assays. The NAT activity from E. aerogenes was 0.58 +/- 0.08 nmol/min/mg protein for 2-AF. The values of apparent K(m) and Vmax were 0.72 +/- 0.14 mM and 2.45 +/- 0.29 nmol/min/mg protein, respectively, for 2-AF. The optimal pH value for the enzyme activity was 7.5 for the 2-AF tested. The optimal temperature for enzyme activity was 37 degrees C for the 2-AF substrate. The molecular weight of NAT from E. aerogenes was 44.9 kD. Among a series of divalent cations and salts, Zn2+, Ca2+, and Fe2+ were demonstrated to be the most potent protease inhibitors, and only ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid significantly protected the NAT. Entity linking is a fundamental task in natural language processing. The task of entity linking with knowledge graphs aims at linking mentions in text to their correct entities in a knowledge graph like DBpedia or YAGO2. Most of existing methods rely on hand‐designed features to model the contexts of mentions and entities, which are sparse and hard to calibrate. In this paper, we present a neural model that first combines co‐attention mechanism with graph convolutional network for entity linking with knowledge graphs, which extracts features of mentions and entities from their contexts automatically. Specifically, given the context of a mention and one of its candidate entities' context, we introduce the co‐attention mechanism to learn the relatedness between the mention context and the candidate entity context, and build the mention representation in consideration of such relatedness. Moreover, we propose a context‐aware graph convolutional network for entity representation, which takes both the graph structure of the candidate entity and its relatedness with the mention context into consideration.
