A Multi-Mesh Multi-Physics (MMMP) method is developed to reduce the very long computational time required for simulating incremental forming processes such as cogging or ring rolling. It consists in using several finite element meshes on the same domain to solve the different physics of the problem. A reference mesh is used to accurately store the results and history variables, while the different computational meshes are optimized to solve each physic of the problem. The MMMP algorithm consists in two main key-steps: the generation of the different unstructured meshes and the data transfer between the meshes. The accuracy of the method is supported by using meshes that are embedded by nodes. The method is applied to the simulation of the cogging metal forming process for which it shows as accurate and more than ten times faster than the standard method with a single mesh.  相似文献

Intradialytic hypotension (IDH) is a detrimental complication of maintenance hemodialysis, but how it is defined and reported varies widely in the literature. European Best Practice Guideline and Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative guidelines require symptoms and a mitigating intervention to fulfill the diagnosis, but morbidity and mortality outcomes are largely based on blood pressure alone. Furthermore, little is known about the incidence of asymptomatic hypotension, which may be an important cause of hypoperfusion injury and impaired outcome. Seventy‐seven patients were studied over 456 dialysis sessions. Blood pressure was measured at 15‐minute intervals throughout the session and compared with post‐dialysis symptom questionnaire results using mixed modeling to adjust for repeated measures in the same patient. The frequency of asymptomatic hypotension was estimated by logistic regression using a variety of commonly cited blood pressure metrics that describe IDH. In 113 sessions (25%) where symptoms were recorded on the questionnaire, these appear not to have been reported to dialysis staff. When symptoms were reported (293 sessions [64%]), an intervention invariably followed. Dizziness and cramp were strongly associated with changes in systolic blood pressure (SBP), but not diastolic blood pressure. Nausea occurred more frequently in younger patients but was not associated with falls in blood pressure. Thresholds that maximized the probability of an intervention rather than a session remaining asymptomatic were SBP <100 mmHg or a 20% reduction in SBP from baseline. The probability of SBP falling to <100 mmHg in an asymptomatic session was 0.23. Symptoms are frequently not reported by patients who are hypotensive during hemodialysis, which leads to an underestimation of IDH if symptom‐based definitions are used. A revised definition of IDH excluding patient‐reported symptoms would be in line with literature reporting morbidity and mortality outcomes and include sessions in which potentially detrimental asymptomatic hypotension occurs.  相似文献

Ni, Cu, Cu90Ni10 and Cu70Ni30 were evaluated as cathode materials for the conversion of nitrate to nitrogen by a paired electrolysis process using an undivided flow-through electrolyzer. Firstly, corrosion measurements revealed that Ni and Cu70Ni30 electrodes have a much better corrosion resistance than Cu and Cu90Ni10 in the presence of chloride, nitrate and ammonia. Secondly, nitrate electroreduction experiments showed that the cupro-nickel electrodes are the most efficient for reducing nitrate to ammonia with a selectivity of 100%. Finally, paired electrolysis experiments confirmed the efficiency of Cu70Ni30 and Cu90Ni10 cathodes for the conversion of nitrate to nitrogen. During a typical electrolysis, the concentration of nitrate varied from 620 ppm to less than 50 ppm NO3 with an N2 selectivity of 100% and a mean energy consumption of 20 kWh/kg NO3 (compared to ∼35 and ∼220 kWh/kg NO3 with Cu and Ni cathodes, respectively).  相似文献

Cyanobacterial metabolites, both toxic and non-toxic, are a major problem for the water industry. Nanofiltration (NF) may be an effective treatment option for removing organic micropollutants, such as cyanobacterial metabolites, from drinking water due to its size exclusion properties. A rapid bench scale membrane test (RBSMT) unit was utilised to trial four NF membranes to remove the cyanobacterial metabolites, microcystin, cylindrospermopsin (CYN), 2-methylisoborneol (MIB) and geosmin (GSM) in two treated waters sourced from the Palmer and Myponga water treatment plants. Membrane fouling was observed for both treated waters; however, only minor differences were observed between feed waters of differing natural organic matter (NOM) concentration. Low molecular weight cut-off (MWCO), or 'tight' NF, membranes afforded average removals above 90% for CYN, while removal by higher MWCO, or 'loose' NF membranes was lower. MIB and GSM were removed effectively (above 75%) by tight NF but less effectively by loose NF. Microcystin variants (MCRR, MCYR, MCLR, MCLA) were removed to above 90% by tight NF membranes; however, removal using loose NF membranes depended on the hydrophobicity and charge of the variant. Different NOM concentration in the treated waters had no effect on the removal of cyanobacterial metabolites.  相似文献

A polarizer-sample-Wollaston prism analyzer ellipsometer is described in which the ellipsometric angles ψ and Δ are determined by direct measurement of the elliptically polarized light reflected from the sample. With the Wollaston prism initially set to transmit p- and s-polarized light, the azimuthal angle P of the polarizer is adjusted until the two beams have equal intensity. This condition yields ψ=±P and ensures that the reflected elliptically polarized light has an azimuthal angle of ±45° and maximum ellipticity. Rotating the Wollaston prism through 45° and adjusting the analyzer azimuth until the two beams again have equal intensity yields the ellipticity that allows Δ to be determined via a simple linear relationship. The errors produced by nonideal components are analyzed. We show that the polarizer dominates these errors but that for most practical purposes, the error in ψ is negligible and the error in Δ may be corrected exactly. A native oxide layer on a silicon substrate was measured at a single wavelength and multiple angles of incidence and spectroscopically at a single angle of incidence. The best fit film thicknesses obtained were in excellent agreement with those determined using a traditional null ellipsometer.  相似文献

We describe a polarizer-compensator-sample-analyzer (PCSA) null ellipsometer in which a variable retarder is used as the compensator and either the polarizer or the analyzer is held at a fixed azimuthal angle. Ellipsometric angles ψ and Δ are determined directly from the azimuth of the rotating component and the compensator delay, respectively. A Soleil-Babinet compensator with quartz plates is used as the variable delay element and the delay at any wavelength is calculated from the independently measured delay at 632.8 nm and a knowledge of the dispersion of quartz. The thicknesses of thin silicon dioxide films on a silicon wafer were determined both spectroscopically and at a single wavelength and show excellent agreement with those determined using a traditional single wavelength PCSA null ellipsometer.  相似文献

Size and zeta potential are critical physicochemical properties of nanoparticles (NPs), influencing their biological activity and safety profile. These are essential for further industrial upscale and clinical success. However, the characterization of polydisperse, non-spherical NPs is a challenge for traditional characterization techniques (ex., dynamic light scattering (DLS)). In this paper, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) were coated with polyvinyl alcohol (PVAL) exhibiting different terminal groups at their surface, either hydroxyl (OH), carboxyl (COOH) or amino (NH2) end groups. Size, zeta potential and concentration were characterized by orthogonal methods, namely, batch DLS, nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA), tunable resistive pulse sensing (TRPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), asymmetric flow field flow fractionation (AF4) coupled to multi-angle light scattering (MALS), UV–Visible and online DLS. Finally, coated SPIONs were incubated with albumin, and size changes were monitored by AF4-MALS-UV-DLS. NTA showed the biggest mean sizes, even though DLS PVAL-COOH SPION graphs presented aggregates in the micrometer range. TRPS detected more NPs in suspension than NTA. Finally, AF4-MALS-UV-DLS could successfully resolve the different sizes of the coated SPION suspensions. The results highlight the importance of combining techniques with different principles for NPs characterization. The advantages and limitations of each method are discussed here.  相似文献

Heart transplantation is facing a shortage of grafts. Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD) would constitute a new potential of available organs. In the present work, we aimed to evaluate whether Postconditioning (ischemic or with ciclosporin-A (CsA)) could reduce ischemia-reperfusion injury in a cardiac arrest model when applied at the start of reperfusion or after a delay. An isolated rat heart model was used as a model of DCD. Hearts were submitted to a cardiac arrest of 40 min of global warm ischemia (37 °C) followed by 3 h of 4 °C-cold preservation, then 60 min reperfusion. Hearts were randomly allocated into the following groups: control, ischemic postconditioning (POST, consisting of two episodes each of 30 s ischemia and 30 s reperfusion at the onset of reperfusion), and CsA group (CsA was perfused at 250 nM for 10 min at reperfusion). In respective subgroups, POST and CsA were applied after a delay of 3, 10, and 20 min. Necrosis was lower in CsA and POST versus controls (p < 0.01) whereas heart functions were improved (p < 0.01). However, while the POST lost its efficacy if delayed beyond 3 min of reperfusion, CsA treatment surprisingly showed a reduction of necrosis even if applied after a delay of 3 and 10 min of reperfusion (p < 0.01). This cardioprotection by delayed CsA application correlated with better functional recovery and higher mitochondrial respiratory index. Furthermore, calcium overload necessary to induce mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) opening was similar in all cardioprotection groups, suggesting a crucial role of MPTP in this delayed protection of DCD hearts.  相似文献
