The present study focuses on finding a correlation between the positron annihilation parameters of silicone rubber polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composites loaded with different conductive fillers and their swelling and electrical properties. Four types of conductive fillers have been used in this study, i.e., carbon black (CB), graphite (G), copper, and nickel powders. The investigated swelling parameters for PDMS composites such as the maximum degree of swelling Qm%, the penetration rate, P, and consequently the diffusion coefficient, D, decreased with increasing the filler content due to the reduction of the size of free‐volume, which could be observed through a decrease of the probability of ortho‐positronium (o‐Ps) formation I3, that has been measured by the positron annihilation spectroscopy (PALS). Accordingly, a positive correlation has been found of 76.78% and 61.1% between Qm% and the o‐Ps lifetime τ3, representing the size of free‐volume for the CB and G filled composites, respectively. It is worthwhile, mentioning that the CB filled composites exhibit relatively low values of P, D, and Qm% as compared to the G filled composites due to the difference in the physical properties of the filler, particle size, surface area as well as the tendency of the filler particles to make aggregates. On the other hand, the variation of the diffusion coefficient with the relative fractional free‐volume Fr is found in good agreement with the Fujita's free‐volume theory. On the other hand, the electrical conductivity increases with increasing the conductive filler content. Positive temperature coefficient of conductivity (PTCC) behavior is detected, except for the composite containing 20 or 25 phr CB, which showed a metallic behavior. Besides, CB filled PDMS composites exhibit higher electrical conductivity as compared to the composites filled with the other three fillers. The electrical conductivity ln (σ) is positively correlated with the probability of free annihilation of positrons at interfaces I2, thus suggesting an increase in the electron density with the filler content. The activation energy of conduction, Ea, decreases with the increase in the loading of conductive filler. Moreover, it was noticed that Ea varies with the filler type, the values of Ea increase as the particle size of the filler increases. Finally, a correlation between the free‐volume Vf, determined by PALS with the DC electrical conductivity ln(σ) is found to be in accordance with Miyamoto and Shibayma model. POLYM. In this paper a cylindrical model of human body exposed to the extremely low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic field is presented. The analysis is based on the solution of the simplified integral equation for thick wires. The numerical solution of the integral equations is performed by the Galerkin–Bubnov variant of the boundary element method. Several numerical results for the ELF exposures are presented.  相似文献

The switching frequency of a conventional direct torque control (DTC) strategy which is based on hysteresis controllers results in a variable switching frequency which depends on the mechanical speed, stator flux, stator voltage, and the hysteresis band of the comparator. In this paper, a DTC scheme using space vector modulator (SVM) and fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is suggested. A comparison with the classical DTC is presented. The suggested control strategy guarantees very good dynamic and steady state characteristics with low sampling rate and a constant switching frequency. The study evaluated different mucoadhesive polymeric hydrogels for nasal delivery of acyclovir. Gels containing poly-N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (PVP) were prepared with crosslinking achieved by irradiation with a radiation dose of 15 kGy being as efficient as 20 kGy. Gels containing chitosan and carbopol were also evaluated. The mucoadhesive properties of gels were measured by a modification of a classical tensile experiment, employing a tensile tester and using freshly excised sheep nasal mucosa. Considering the mucoadhesive force, chitosan gel and gel prepared with 3% PVP in presence of polyethylene glycol (PEG) 600 were the most efficient. The in vitro drug release depended on the gel composition. Higher release rates were obtained from PVP gels compared to chitosan or carbopol gels. The release rate of drug from PVP gels was increased further in presence of PEG or glycerol. Histopathological investigations proved that the PVP was a safe hydrogel to be used for mucosal delivery. The PEG in gel formulations caused less damages to the nasal mucosal compared to formulation containing glycerol.  相似文献

The present paper develops a new technique for treatment of self-weight for building slabs in the boundary element method (BEM). Due to the use of BEM in the analysis, all defined variables are presented on the slab boundary (mesh is defined only along the slab boundary). Self-weight, however, is usually defined over slab domain, hence domain discretisation is required, which spoils the main advantage of the BEM. In this paper a new method is presented to transform self-weight domain integrals to the boundary for such slabs. The proposed method is based on using the so-called Green's first identity. All new kernels for generalized displacements, stress-resultants, and tractions are derived and listed explicitly. The present formulation is implemented into computer code and several examples are tested. Results are compared against results obtained from other numerical method to prove the accuracy and validity of the present formulation.  相似文献

Magnifying micro-movements of natural videos that are undetectable by human eye has recently received considerable interests, due to its impact in numerous applications. In this paper, we use dual tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT), to analyze video frames in order to detect and magnify micro-movements to make them visible. We use DT-CWT, due to its excellent edge-preserving and nearly-shift invariant features. In order to detect any minor change in object’s spatial position, the paper proposes to modify the phases of the CWT coefficients decomposition of successive video frames. Furthermore, the paper applies Radon transform to track frame micro-movements without any temporal band-pass filtering. The paper starts by presenting a simple technique to design orthogonal filters that construct this CWT system. Next, it is shown that modifying the phase differences between the CWT coefficients of arbitrary frame and a reference one results in image spatial magnification. This in turn, makes these micro-movements seen and observable. Several simulation results are given, to show that the proposed technique competes very well to the existing micro-magnification approaches. In fact, as it manages to yield superior video quality in far less computation time.  相似文献

Seven symptomatic patients with Wilson's disease have so far been diagnosed at King Khalid University Hospital (KKUH), Riyadh, over the last six years. On family screening, another three asymptomatic patients were found to be affected. Five of the symptomatic patients had clinical features of liver disease on initial presentation and was preceded by renal dysfunction in another patient. The remaining patient presented with neurological features. Six patients had Kayser-Fleisher ring. Abnormal liver function tests were found in half of the patients. Ceruloplasmin was reduced in 7 of 10 patients. Serum copper and urinary copper estimations were most useful diagnostic laboratory tests. Morphological alteration was found in all 9 patients who had a percutaneous liver biopsy. All patients were treated initially with D-penicillamine and clinical response was noted in seven, of whom one developed neurological manifestations while receiving the treatment. D-penicillamine was replaced by zinc sulfate in 3 patients who developed thrombocytopenia. The data suggest that Wilson's disease may not be rare in Saudi Arabia. For early detection and prompt treatment, the disease should be suspected under appropriate clinical circumstances especially in young patients with liver diseases. Close relatives of such index patients should be routinely screened.  相似文献

On adaptive transmission for energy efficiency in wireless data networks   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
This paper investigates the problem of energy-efficient transmission of data packets in a wireless network by jointly adapting to backlog and channel condition. Specifically, we consider minimum-energy scheduling problems over multiple-access channels, broadcast channels, and channels with fading, when packets of all users need to be transmitted before a deadline T. Earlier work has considered a similar setup and demonstrated significant transmission energy saving by adapting to backlog for channels that are time invariant and when transmission is restricted to time-division. For concreteness, throughout the paper, rates and powers corresponding to optimal coding over discrete-time additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels are assumed. The results, however, hold for more general channels and coding schemes where the total transmitted power is convex in the transmission rates. The offline scheduling problems for all the channels considered are shown to reduce to convex optimization problems with linear constraints. An iterative algorithm, referred to as FlowRight, that finds optimal offline schedules is presented. A heuristic online algorithm that we call look-ahead water-filling, which jointly adapts to both channel fading state and backlog is described. By the use of a small buffer which introduces an almost fixed delay, this algorithm achieves a considerable reduction in energy relative to water filling solely on channel states.  相似文献

The paper describes a method that uses a video sequence to correct gain fixed pattern noise (FPN) in an image sensor. The captured sequence and its optical flow are used to estimate gain FPN. Assuming brightness constancy along the motion trajectories, the pixels are grouped in blocks and the gains of the pixels in each block are estimated by iteratively minimizing the sum of the squared brightness variations along the motion trajectories. Significant reductions in gain FPN are demonstrated using both real and synthetically generated video sequences with modest computations.  相似文献
