In the reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) model, the mean values of uncertain variables are usually applied as design variables, and the cost is optimized subject to prescribed probabilistic constraints as defined by a nonlinear mathematical programming problem. Therefore, an RBDO solution that reduces the structural weight in non-critical regions provides not only an improved design, but also a higher level of confidence in the design. Solving such nested optimization problems is extremely expensive for large-scale multidisciplinary systems that are likewise computationally intensive. This article focuses on the study of a particular problem representing the failure mode of structural vibration analysis. A new method is proposed, called safest point, that can efficiently give the reliability-based optimum solution under frequency constraints, and then several probability distributions are developed, which are mathematically nonlinear functions, for the proposed method. Finally, the efficiency of the extended approach is demonstrated for probability distributions such as log-normal and uniform distributions, and its applicability to the design of structures undergoing fluid–structure interaction phenomena, especially the design process of aeroelastic structures, is also demonstrated. 相似文献

We report on the effect of thermal annealing on the structural and mechanical properties of amorphous SiC thin films prepared by means of a polymer-source chemical vapor deposition process. The chemical bondings of the a-SiC:H films were systematically examined by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The film composition was measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, while X-ray reflectivity measurements were used to account for the film density variations caused by the post-annealing treatments over the 750-1200 °C range. In addition, their mechanical properties (hardness and Young's modulus) were investigated by using the nano-indentation technique. FTIR measurements revealed that not only the intensity of a-SiC absorption band linearly increases but also its position is found to shift to a higher wave number as a result of annealing. In addition, the bond density of Si―C is found to increase from (101.6-224.5) × 1021 bond·cm− 3 accompanied by a decrease of Si―H bond density from (2.58-0.46)× 1021 bond·cm− 3 as a result of increasing the annealing temperature (Ta) from 750 to 1200 °C. Annealing-induced film densification is confirmed, as the a-SiC film density is found to increase from 2.36 to ∼ 2.75 g/cm− 3 when Ta is raised from 750 to 1200 °C. In addition, as Ta is increased from 750 to 1200 °C, both hardness and Young's modulus are found to increase from 15.5 to 17.6 GPa and 155 to 178 GPa, respectively. Our results confirm the previously established linear correlation between the mechanical properties of the a-SiC films and their bond densities. 相似文献

Background: Silymarin (SIL) has long been utilized to treat a variety of liver illnesses, but due to its poor water solubility and low membrane permeability, it has a low oral bioavailability, limiting its therapeutic potential. Aim: Design and evaluate hepatic-targeted delivery of safe biocompatible formulated SIL-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (SCNPs) to enhance SIL’s anti-fibrotic effectiveness in rats with CCl4-induced liver fibrosis. Methods: The SCNPs and chitosan nanoparticles (CNPs) were prepared by ionotropic gelation technique and are characterized by physicochemical parameters such as particle size, morphology, zeta potential, and in vitro release studies. The therapeutic efficacy of successfully formulated SCNPs and CNPs were subjected to in vivo evaluation studies. Rats were daily administered SIL, SCNPs, and CNPs orally for 30 days. Results: The in vivo study revealed that the synthesized SCNPs demonstrated a significant antifibrotic therapeutic action against CCl4-induced hepatic injury in rats when compared to treated groups of SIL and CNPs. SCNP-treated rats had a healthy body weight, with normal values for liver weight and liver index, as well as significant improvements in liver functions, inflammatory indicators, antioxidant pathway activation, and lipid peroxidation reduction. The antifibrotic activities of SCNPs were mediated by suppressing the expression of the main fibrosis mediators TGFβR1, COL3A1, and TGFβR2 by boosting the hepatic expression of protective miRNAs; miR-22, miR-29c, and miR-219a, respectively. The anti-fibrotic effects of SCNPs were supported by histopathology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) study. Spent Ni–Cd batteries are now considered an important source for many valuable metals. The recovery of cadmium, cobalt, and nickel from spent Ni–Cd Batteries has been performed in this study. The optimum leaching process was achieved using 20% H2SO4, solid/liquid (S/L) 1/5 at 80 °C for 6 h. The leaching efficiency of Fe, Cd, and Co was nearly 100%, whereas the leaching efficiency of Ni was 95%. The recovery of the concerned elements was attained using successive different separation techniques. Cd(II) ions were extracted by a solvent, namely, Adogen® 464, and precipitated as CdS with 0.5% Na2S solution at pH of 1.25 and room temperature. The extraction process corresponded to pseudo-2nd-order. The prepared PTU-MS silica was applied for adsorption of Co(II) ions from aqueous solution, while the desorption process was performed using 0.3 M H2SO4. Cobalt was precipitated at pH 9.0 as Co(OH)2 using NH4OH. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were also investigated. Nickel was directly precipitated at pH 8.25 using a 10% NaOH solution at ambient temperature. FTIR, SEM, and EDX confirm the structure of the products. 相似文献

As online spatial datasets grow both in number and sophistication, it becomes increasingly difficult for users to decide whether
a dataset is suitable for their tasks, especially when they do not have prior knowledge of the dataset. In this paper, we
propose browsing as an effective and efficient way to explore the content of a spatial dataset. Browsing allows users to view the size of
a result set before evaluating the query at the database, thereby avoiding zero-hit/mega-hit queries and saving time and resources.
Although the underlying technique supporting browsing is similar to range query aggregation and selectivity estimation, spatial
dataset browsing poses some unique challenges. In this paper, we identify a set of spatial relations that need to be supported
in browsing applications, namely, the contains, contained and the overlap relations. We prove a lower bound on the storage required to answer queries about the contains relation accurately at a given resolution. We then present three storage-efficient approximation algorithms which we believe
to be the first to estimate query results about these spatial relations. We evaluate these algorithms with both synthetic
and real world datasets and show that they provide highly accurate estimates for datasets with various characteristics.

In this paper we give a new projection-based algorithm for computing the topology of a real algebraic space curve given implicitly by a set of equations. Under some genericity conditions, which may be reached through a linear change of coordinates, we show that a plane projection of the given curve, together with a special polynomial in the ideal of the curve contains all the information needed to compute its topological shape. Our method is also designed in such a way to exploit important particular cases such as complete intersection curves or curves contained in nonsingular surfaces. 相似文献

This paper deals with the problem of the Direction Of Arrival (DOA) estimation with nonuniform linear arrays. The proposed method is based on the Expectation Maximization method where ESPRIT is used in the maximization step. The key idea is to iteratively interpolate the data to a virtual uniform linear array in order to apply ESPRIT to estimate the DOA. The iterative approach allows one to improve the interpolation using the previously estimated DOA. One of this method’s novelties lies in its capacity of dealing with any nonuniform array geometry. This technique manifests significant performance and computational advantages over previous algorithms such as Spectral MUSIC, EM-IQML and the method based on manifold separation technique. EM-ESPRIT is shown to be more robust to additive noise. Furthermore, EM-ESPRIT fully exploits the advantages of using a nonuniform array over a uniform array: simulations show that for the same aperture and with a smaller number of sensors, the nonuniform array presents almost identical performance as the equivalent uniform array. 相似文献

This paper presents the design,implementation and testing of an embedded system that integrates solar and storage energy resources to smart homes within the smart microgrid.The proposed system provides the required home energy by installing renewable energy and storage devices.It also manages and schedules the power flow during peak and off-peak periods.In addition,a two-way communication protocol is developed to enable the home owners and the utility service provider to improve the energy flow and the consumption efficiency.The system can be an integral part for homes in a smart grid or smart microgrid power networks.A prototype for the proposed system was designed,implemented and tested by using a controlled load bank to simulate a scaled random real house consumption behavior.Three different scenarios were tested and the results and findings are reported.Moreover,data flow security among the home,home owners and utility server is developed to minimize cyber-attacks. 相似文献

Mitochondria play a crucial role in cell physiology and pathophysiology. In this context, mitochondrial dynamics and, subsequently, mitochondrial ultrastructure have increasingly become hot topics in modern research, with a focus on mitochondrial fission and fusion. Thus, the dynamics of mitochondria in several diseases have been intensively investigated, especially with a view to developing new promising treatment options. However, the majority of recent studies are performed in highly energy-dependent tissues, such as cardiac, hepatic, and neuronal tissues. In contrast, publications on mitochondrial dynamics from the orthopedic or trauma fields are quite rare, even if there are common cellular mechanisms in cardiovascular and bone tissue, especially regarding bone infection. The present report summarizes the spectrum of mitochondrial alterations in the cardiovascular system and compares it to the state of knowledge in the musculoskeletal system. The present paper summarizes recent knowledge regarding mitochondrial dynamics and gives a short, but not exhaustive, overview of its regulation via fission and fusion. Furthermore, the article highlights hypoxia and its accompanying increased mitochondrial fission as a possible link between cardiac ischemia and inflammatory diseases of the bone, such as osteomyelitis. This opens new innovative perspectives not only for the understanding of cellular pathomechanisms in osteomyelitis but also for potential new treatment options. 相似文献
