Utilization of a porous medium for combustion of liquid fuels is proved to be a promising approach for future applications. The porous medium burner for liquid fuels is more advantageous than the conventional open spray flame burner for several reasons; these include enhanced evaporation of droplet spray owing to regenerative combustion characteristics, low emission of pollutants, high combustion intensity with moderate turn-down ratio and compactness. This article provides a comprehensive picture of the global scenario of research and developments in combustion of liquid fuels within a porous medium that enable a researcher to determine the direction of further investigation. Accordingly, a glossary of the important terminology, the modeling approach, advances in numerical and experimental works and applications are included. The papers published in standard journals are reviewed and summarized with relevant comments and suggestions for future work. 相似文献

Intermittent aeration of cutting oil emulsion was shown to reduce but not eliminate sulphate reducing bacteria (srb). Removing iron swarf from infected cutting fluid markedly reduced the numbers of srb detected in the fluid, and prevented the characteristic grey spoilage which these organisms promote. The influence of HAF carbon black and BaTiO3 ceramic powder contents in SBR vulcanizates on the dielectric constant (ε′) at different frequencies and at fixed temperature of 303 K is studied well in this article. The temperature dependence of the ac conductivity (σac) was also studied. ε′ appreciably decreases as frequency increased for both filled and unfilled SBR vulcanizates. At each frequency, ε′ gradually decreased with BaTiO3 loading, but its change at any fixed frequency with BaTiO3 filler loading is not uniform. For HAF group ε′ (at loading ≥ 40 phr), drops rapidly with frequency. Meanwhile, it increased appreciably beyond a certain HAF filler loading (≈ 20 phr). Experimental values of the dielectric constant of both BaTiO3 and HAF contents were compared with those calculated by using Tsangaris, Clausius and Bruggman models. Tsangaris model with simple modifications was applied and a fairly good agreement was obtained. The HAF particles or aggregates was found to take the shape of oblate ellipsoids with the minor axes parallel to the applied frequency as detected from the decreasing behavior of the depolarizing factor (Y) with HAF contents. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper reported on the work performed to study the formation of silicon nitride and silicon carbide whiskers using the carbothermal nitridation process. A distinctive aspect of the present study lies in the use of the mechanical milling method to alter the regularity of the crystalline network of the silica sand. In order to optimise the processing parameters for the synthesis of silicon carbide, the concept of Taguchi's Design of Experiments was considered, the analysis being based on Taguchi's signal to noise ratio and variance techniques to obtain optimum combination of process parameters. Synthesis of functional aliphatic polyketones was achieved by co‐ and terpolymerization of the strained exo‐methylenecycloalkane, methylenecyclopropane (MCP), and also the dienes 1,5‐hexadiene, 1,7‐octadiene and 1,6‐heptadien‐4‐ol, with carbon monoxide and propene, using the dicationic palladium(II) phosphine complex [Pd(dppp) (NCCH3)2](BF4)2 (I) (dppp is 1,3‐bis(diphenyl‐phosphino)propane) as the catalyst precursor. The resulting MCP/CO copolymer contains both ring‐opened and cyclic microstructures. Ring‐opening copolymerization yields exo‐methylene functionalized polyketone. In contrast to hexadiene/carbon monoxide copolymer (Hx/CO), no ring structures were observed in the alternating octadiene/carbon monoxide (Oc/CO) and heptadien‐4‐ol/carbon monoxide (Hp‐ol/CO) copolymers. Two modified electrodes (Pb/PbO2 and C/PbO2) were prepared by electrodepositing a lead oxide layer on lead and carbon sub-strates. These modified electrodes were used as anodes for the generation of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) from sodium chloride solution. Different operating conditions and factors affecting the treatment process of NaOCl generation, including current density, pH values, con-ductive electrolytes, and electrolysis time, were studied and optimized. By comparison the C/PbO2 electrode shows a higher efficiency than the Pb/PbO2 electrode for the generation of NaOCl. 相似文献

Quasi‐Z source indirect matrix converter (IMC) combines both advantages of conventional IMC and quasi‐Z source inverter, for example, no direct current (DC) link capacitor, compact all‐silicon power converter, bidirectional power flow, input power factor controllable, and high voltage gain; moreover, it does not require additional input filter, because continuous quasi‐Z source network integrates LC filter function. However, there is no literature to disclose common mode voltage (CMV) issue of quasi‐Z source IMC. In this paper, for the first time, the CMV issue and reduction of quasi‐Z source IMC are investigated. Firstly, the CMV of quasi‐Z source IMC is analyzed when using current typical modulation method, which follows the brief introduction of topology and modulation method for quasi‐Z source IMC, and the factors that affect the CMV are figured out; Secondly, referring to the CMV reduction methods of conventional IMC, two solutions named as Methods I and II to reduce the CMV for quasi‐Z source IMC are developed, which are achieved in the inverter stage; the third CMV reduction method is proposed in the rectifier stage through redefining the six sectors of the rectifier stage, which can implement zero current commutation. Experimental bench is built to test three approaches for reducing the CMV of quasi‐Z source IMC. Comparative evaluation is carried out between three methods and conventional modulation method. Experimental results verify that three methods can significantly reduce the CMV of quasi‐Z source IMC, with the CMV peak value reduction of 42%, but they present different features in terms of input and output current THDs, switching loss, CMV root mean square (RMS) value, modulation index limitation, and so on. Vanadium pentoxide nanoparticles were synthesized using a solvo-thermal method and were characterized via X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The ozonation of palm oil was performed by using vanadium pentoxide nanoparticles as catalysts to synthesize ethyl malonate. This procedure presented several advantages, such as simple operation for a precise ozonation, excellent yield, short reaction times and reusability because of the recyclability of palm oil. In this study, the low velocity impact properties of rotationally molded skin–foam–skin sandwich structures were investigated experimentally since there is a need for a greater understanding of the impact behavior of these composites in service to extend the range of their applications. Polyethylene rotationally molded sandwich structures were manufactured at various skin and core layer thickness combinations and tested using an instrumented low velocity drop weight impact testing machine at 20–100 J impact energy levels, at room temperature. This allowed the identification of the impact response, failure mode, and the effects of the skin and core layer thickness on impact resistance. Force–deflection curves, maximum force, contact time, maximum deflection versus impact energy curves were analyzed. Samples were seen to fail due to the indentation dart piercing the upper and lower skins, with crushing and consolidation seen in the core foamed layer. Delamination at the core/skin interface was not observed. It was found that fracture initiates from the lower skin and then continues to grow to the upper skin via the foamed core layer. The impact resistance was noted to increase with increasing skin and core layer thickness; though an increase in skin layer thickness had a greater contribution than an increase in the core layer thickness.
