A noncontact, nonmechanical scanning, wide-field spectral interference microscope is developed for simultaneous measurement of three-dimensional step-height of discontinuous objects and tomographic imaging. A superluminescent diode (SLD) is used as a broadband light source and a liquid-crystal Fabry-Perot interferometer (LC-FPI) as a frequency-scanning device. By means of changing the injection current to the SLD, the spectral profile of the SLD is equalized, and a constant light input to the interferometer is achieved over the entire frequency-scan range. The Fourier-transform technique is used to determine both the amplitude and the phase of spectral fringe signals. Three-dimensional height distribution of a discontinuous object is obtained from the phase information, whereas optically sectioned images of the object are obtained either from the amplitude information alone or from the combination of both the amplitude and phase information. Experimental results with submicrometer resolution are presented for both step-height measurement and tomographic sectioning.  相似文献

This paper considers a complex scheduling problem in the chemical process industry involving batch production. The application described comprises a network of production plants with interdependent production schedules, multi-stage production at multi-purpose facilities, and chain production. The paper addresses three distinct aspects: (i) a scheduling solution obtained from a genetic algorithm based optimizer, (ii) a mechanism for collaborative planning among the involved plants, and (iii) a tool for manual updates and schedule changes. The tailor made optimization algorithm simultaneously considers alternative production paths and facility selection as well as product and resource specific parameters such as batch sizes, and setup and cleanup times. The collaborative planning concept allows all the plants to work simultaneously as partners in a supply chain resulting in higher transparency, greater flexibility, and reduced response time as a whole. The user interface supports monitoring production schedules graphically and provides custom-built utilities for manual changes to the production schedule, investigation of various what-if scenarios, and marketing queries. How should digital design be taught to computing science students in a single one-semester course? This work advocates the use of state-of-the-art design tools and programmable devices and presents a series of laboratory exercises to help students learn digital logic. Each exercise introduces new concepts and produces the complete design of a stand-alone apparatus that is fun and interesting to use. These exercises lead to the most challenging capstone designs for a single-semester course of which the authors are aware. Fast progress is made possible by providing students with predesigned input/output modules. Student feedback demonstrates that the students approve of this methodology. An extensive set of slides, supporting teaching material, and laboratory exercises are freely available for downloading.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: We sought to determine whether a prolonged QRS-interval duration is associated with decreased left ventricular (LV) systolic function. BACKGROUND: The 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is a routine test for suspected cardiac disease. Although several scoring systems have been devised to estimate LV systolic function, no studies have examined the direct relationship between QRS duration alone and LV systolic function. METHODS: We analyzed the standard 12-lead surface ECG of 270 consecutive patients, referred for radionuclide ventriculography. Patients (n = 44) with bundle branch blocks, atrial flutter or fibrillation, pacemaker rhythm, recent myocardial infarction or bypass surgery, and patients on antiarrhythmic drugs were excluded. In the remaining patients (n = 226), we correlated the QRS duration on standard resting ECG, and the resting LV ejection fraction (EF), end-systolic and end-diastolic counts (ESC and EDC, respectively; LV volume indices), as obtained by radionuclide angiography. We used a multivariate analysis to identify independent predictors of reduced ventricular function entering QRS duration, the previously described R-wave score and clinical variables in our model. RESULTS: The QRS duration in the abnormal EF group was significantly longer than in the normal EF group (0.102 vs. 0.091 s, p < 0.0001). A QRS duration >0.10 s was highly specific (83.6%), but modestly sensitive (43.8%), for the prediction of abnormal EF. Furthermore, an abnormal EF was predicted with incrementally increased specificity (83.6% to 99.3%) and a corresponding decrease in sensitivity (43.8% to 13.8%) for each 0.01-s increase in the definition of prolonged QRS (from >0.10 to >0.12 s). Accordingly, the positive likelihood ratio for the prediction of decreased LV function was increased from 2.67 to 19.7 as the definition of prolonged QRS duration was increased from >0.10 to >0.12 s. In the multivariate analysis, a prolonged QRS duration and a low R-wave score were the only independent predictors of decreased LV systolic function. CONCLUSIONS: Prolonged QRS duration (>0.10 s) obtained from a standard resting 12-lead ECG is a specific, but relatively insensitive indicator of decreased LV systolic function. Further prolongation of the QRS had a higher specificity for decreased LV EF and a higher positive likelihood ratio for predicting abnormal LV EF.  相似文献

We reviewed the use of a low radiation portable fluoroscopy unit in 100 patients. The most common indication was closed reduction of distal radial fractures. Fracture and joint stability were assessed on the real-time monitor and stored on videotape. Static images were stored on thermographic paper. Fluoroscopically guided joint injections and localization of implants, foreign bodies and bone tumours were performed. Fluoroscopy is a useful adjunct to arthroscopic assisted fracture reduction and other arthroscopic procedures such as distal ulnar resection. These new generation units produce superior resolution images, are easy to manoeuvre and do not require a radiographer.  相似文献

A study of the effect of ash yield on the maximum thickness of the plastic layer (MTPL) of some coking coals (as measured by the Sapozhnikov plastometer) has revealed that with an increase in the former the latter in general decre?es. A rectilinear relation approximately exists between the ash percentage (dry basis) and log MTPL values of coals. For the samples studied, a multiple correlation incorporating the rank factor was found to be unnecessary. Higher Fe2O3 and SO3 contents from the coal were found to be associated with higher MTPL values.  相似文献

The maximum measurable range of a spectral interference microscope depends on the coherence length of the light transmitted by its tunable spectral filter. To achieve a large range in step-height measurement we have developed a new tunable spectral filter that uses tandem liquid-crystal Fabry-Perot interferometers (LC-FPIs), which can simultaneously attain both a high spectral resolution and a large tuning range. Fringe visibility measurements were carried out, and it was found that the coherence length of the light transmitted through tandem LC-FPIs is two times larger than that transmitted through a single LC-FPI. Using this novel tunable spectral filter, we developed a new spectral interference microscope for the measurement of three-dimensional shapes of discontinuous objects. Experimental results of step-height measurements both with a single LC-FPI and with tandem LC-FPIs are presented for a combination of standard steel gauge block sets with 1-, 99-, and 100-microm steps. A large range (1-100 microm) of measurement with submicrometer resolution was achieved with tandem LC-FPIs that was not possible with our previous system in which a single LC-FPI was used.  相似文献
