Bahawalpur is the largest division of the Punjab province in Pakistan. It is larger than many countries of the world. Gamma activity from the naturally occurring radionuclides namely 226Ra, 232Th, the primordial radionuclide 40K and the artificial radionuclide 137Cs was measured in the soil of the Bahawalpur division using gamma spectrometry technique. The mean activity of 226Ra, 232Th, 40K and 137Cs were found to be 32.9 +/- 0.9, 53.6 +/- 1.4, 647.4 +/- 14.1 and 1.5 +/- 0.2 Bq kg(-1), respectively. The mean radium equivalent activity Raeq, external hazard index, internal hazard index and terrestrial absorbed dose rate for the area under study are 158.5 +/- 4.1 Bq kg(-1), 0.4, 0.5 and 77.32 nGy h(-1), respectively. The annual effective dose equivalent to the public was found to be 0.5 mSv. 相似文献

The surface measurement of electrical impedance of muscle, incorporated as the technique of electrical impedance myography (EIM), provides a noninvasive approach for evaluating neuromuscular diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. However, the relationship between alterations in surface impedance and the electrical properties of muscle remains uncertain. In order to investigate this further, a group of healthy adult rats, a group of rats two weeks postsciatic crush, and a group of animals six months postcrush underwent EIM of the gastrocnemius-soleus complex. The animals were then killed and the conductivity and permittivity of the extracted muscle measured. Finite-element models based on MRI data were then constructed for each group. The characteristic EIM parameter, 50 kHz phase (±standard error), obtained with surface impedance measurements was 17.3° ± 0.3° for normal animals, 13.8° ± 0.7° for acutely injured animals, and 16.1° ± 0.5° for chronically injured animals. The models predicted parallel changes with phase values of 24.3°, 18.8°, and 21.2° for the normal, acute, and chronic groups, respectively. Other multifrequency impedance parameters showed similar alterations. These results confirm that surface impedance measurements taken in conjunction with anatomical data and finite-element models may offer a noninvasive approach for assessing biophysical alterations in muscle in neuromuscular disease states. 相似文献

In this paper, a new modified combination of antenna and array feed network integrated in low thickness microstrip technology is presented. A concept similar to the concept of coherently radiating periodic structures is used to feed a 4-element antenna array. In the feed network, a new combination of Gysel-based 3 and 5 port components as power dividers/combiners is employed to propagate the power into the antenna array so that the desired Gaussian-like amplitudes and linear phase distributions can be obtained. These multi-port components are modified to design the feed network by single-layer microstrip technology without the matching and isolation circuits and through-substrate vias. Therefore, the manufacturing cost and difficulty and design complexity are reduced, considerably. Full-wave simulations of the feed network, unit cells and the final integrated antenna array are done, step by step and the results considering all possible losses are presented. To validate the designs, two prototypes, first the feed network and second the integrated module including both antenna array and feed network designed at 3.5 GHz were fabricated and measured and the S parameters (amplitude and phase) were compared with the full-wave simulations. Word repetition causes a significant bilateral metabolic increase in both superior temporal cortices. Frontal speech areas are less activated despite their presumable speech competence. We investigated in this study the relationship between frontal and temporal cortical areas during word repetition. We measured regional cerebral metabolic rates of glucose (CMRGI) in 15 normal subjects with positron emission tomography (PET) at rest and during word repetition. Significant correlations connected frontal and temporal areas of both hemispheres, notwithstanding their different levels of mean metabolic activation. The left planum temporale was a hub of significant interregional correlations, in contrast to its contralateral mate. This study indicates that an asymmetric network of significant connections orchestrates the speech-relevant cortical areas according to the actual needs of speech processing. 相似文献

The present work investigates effectiveness of basil oil, a volatile oil containing alcoholic terpenes, as a potential penetration enhancer for improved skin permeation of labetolol hydrochloride (LHCl) with reference to camphor, geraniol, thymol, and clove oil. Saturation solubilities of LHCl were determined in water, vehicle (ethanol:water, 60:40 v/v) and vehicle containing 5% w/v terpenes. Comparable (P > 0.05) saturation solubilities were found suggesting an insignificant increase in LHCl flux across rat skin on account of thermodynamic activity. Permeation of LHCl in vehicle per se and in presence of 5% w/v enhancer was investigated by performing in vitro rat abdominal skin permeation studies using a side-by-side glass diffusion cell. Various parameters viz. steady state flux, permeability coefficient, lag time, partition coefficient, diffusion coefficient, and enhancement ratios (ER) were calculated from the permeation data. Basil oil produced the maximum enhancement (ER = 46.52) over neat vehicle, among all enhancers. Activation energies for LHCl permeation in water, vehicle per se and in presence of 5% w/v basil oil were found to be 23.16, 18.71, and 10.98 kcal/mole, respectively. Lowering of activation energy in presence of basil oil suggests creation of new polar pathways in the skin for enhanced permeation of LHCl. Basil oil is proposed as a promising penetration enhancer for improved transdermal drug delivery of labetolol. 相似文献

A simple and efficient cloud point extraction-spectrofluorimetric method for the determination of copper(II) in different samples has been proposed. The procedure is based on the oxidation of thiamine with copper(II) to form highly fluorescent thiochrome, its extraction to Triton X-114 micelles and spectrofluorimetric determination. The variables affecting the analytical performance were studied and optimized. The calibration graphs using the preconcentration system for copper were linear over the range 1.0-250 ng ml-1 with limit of detection of 0.29 ng ml-1. Relative standard deviation for five replicate determinations of copper at 100 ng ml-1 concentration level was 2.12%. Average recoveries between 94 and 105% were obtained for spiked samples. The method has been applied to water samples and parenteral solutions and the amounts of copper found are very similar to those obtained by a standard method. 相似文献

Implementing an enterprise resource planning system is a sophisticated, lengthy, and costly process which tends to face serious failure. Thus, it is essential to perform a success assessment at the post-implementation stage of an ERP project to evaluate how much the system has succeeded in achieving its predetermined objectives. This paper proposes a practical framework for assessing a firm's ERP post-implementation success utilising current models through a fuzzy analytic network process. The construct of ERP success is broken down into three main parts, including managerial success, organisational success, and individual success. Using this framework, the firm's ERP system success can be determined and the required improvement projects can be proposed to promote the success level. The proposed framework has been applied to a real international company, in the field of manufacturing and supplying turbines, to measure the firm's ERP post-implementation success. Porous silicon (pSi) surfaces have been chemically patterned via a UV initiated hydrosilylation reaction of an alkene through a photomask, introducing chemical functionality in the exposed surface areas. A secondary, UV initiated hydrosilylation reaction with a second alkene of different functionality is performed to backfill the silicon hydride terminated regions on the surface, thereby affording patterned porous films with dual, surface chemistry. UV initiated hydrosilylations were performed using the alkene undecylenic acid N‐hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester, and the pSi surfaces were stabilized by a second hydrosilylation reaction with a polyethylene glycol (PEG) appended alkene. NHS ester and PEG functionalized surfaces were used for the selective immobilization of the cell adhesion mediator protein fibronectin (FN), in the NHS‐functional regions. Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging on the protein functionalized pSi surface confirmed the patterned conjugation of the FN to the NHS functionalized regions. Mammalian cells cultured on these surfaces showed attachment that was confined to the patterned areas of FN on the pSi surface. 相似文献

A semi-active controller-based neural network for a suspension system with magnetorheological (MR) dampers is presented and evaluated. An inverse neural network model (NIMR) is constructed to replicate the inverse dynamics of the MR damper. The typical control strategies are linear quadratic regulator (LQR) and linear quadratic gaussian (LQG) controllers with a clipped optimal control algorithm, while inherent time-delay and non-linear properties of MR damper lie in these strategies. LQR part of LQG controller is also designed to produce the optimal control force. The LQG controller and the NIMR models are linked to control the system. The effectiveness of the NIMR is illustrated and verified using simulated responses of a full-car model. The results demonstrate that by using the NIMR model, the MR damper force can be commanded to follow closely the desirable optimal control force. The results also show that the control system is effective and achieves better performance and less control effort than the optimal in improving the service life of the suspension system and the ride comfort of a car. 相似文献
