Ten patients with noncompliant bladders and vesicoureteral reflux who did not respond to I.C. and anticholinergic therapy, underwent bladder augmentation and no effort was made to correct reflux surgically, because in these patients, in theory, reflux is secondary to bladder dysfunction. In 8 patients bladder augmentation was made with the intestine and in 2 with the ureter. All patients had a normal compliance after treatment and of the 10 patients with reflux (14 renal units) it disappeared in 7 (11 renal units) and in the 90% of the patients with grades III and IV. In the 3 patients where reflux remained, in 2 it was a unilateral low grade reflux (II) and in 1, had improvement from grade IV to grade II. In these patients reflux only appearing when the bladder got too full, which under normal conditions patients do not get with the I.C. Our experience indicates the antireflux procedures are not routinely needed in this group of patients.  相似文献

In recent years a negative influence of diatom-derived ,,,-unsaturated aldehydes (PUA) on the reproductive success of copepods and invertebrates has been suggested. Since adverse chemical properties of diatoms would question the traditional view of the marine food web, this defense mechanism has been investigated in detail, but the PUA-release by test organisms has only been determined in a few cases. The observed effects were nevertheless frequently discussed from a general point of view often leading to contradictory conclusions. We have examined the PUA-production of 50 diatom species (71 isolates) in order to provide a basis for the interpretation of laboratory and field results on the influence of diatom food on the reproductive success of their consumers. PUA-production is species and strain dependent. Thirty-six percent of the investigated species (38% of the cultivated isolates) release ,,,-unsaturated aldehydes upon cell disruption in concentrations from 0.01 to 9.8 fmol per cell. Thalassiosira rotula and Thalassiosira pacifica, major spring-bloom forming diatoms isolated from Roscoff (Bretagne, English Channel, France) and Puget Sound (Washington, USA) were among the PUA-producing strains.  相似文献

This paper reports the occurrence of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) deposition inferred from a sediment core of an Andean lake in south central Chile. Sediments were carefully collected from one of the deepest section of the lake and sliced every 1 cm. The samples were analyzed for PAHs, (137)Cs, (210)Pb, organic carbon and grain-size. The stratigraphic chronology and the sedimentation rates were estimated using the sedimentary signature left by the (137)Cs and (210)Pb fallout as temporal markers. PAHs were quantified by HPLC-fluorescence detection (HPLC-Fluorescence). 15 priority EPA PAHs were analyzed in this study. Based on these results, PAH deposition over the last 50 years was estimated (a period characterized by an important intervention in the area). PAH concentration ranged from 226 to 620 ng g(-1) d.w. The highest concentrations of PAHs were found in the core's bottom. The PAH profile is dominated by the presence of perylene indicating a natural source of PAH. In addition, two clear PAH deposition periods could be determined: the most recent with two-four rings PAHs, the older one with five-seven rings predomination. Determined fluxes where 71 to 972 microg m(-2) year(-1), dominated by perylene deposition. PAH levels and fluxes are lower compared to the levels found in sediments from remote lakes in Europe and North America. It is concluded that the main source of PAHs into the Laja Lake sediments are of natural origin.  相似文献

The inorganic content and the catalytic performance pose metal-loaded enzyme nanoflowers as promising candidates for developing bioelectrodes capable of functioning without the external addition of a redox mediator. However, these protein-inorganic hybrids have yet to be successfully applied in combination with electrode materials. Herein, the synthesis procedure of these bionanomaterials is reproposed to precisely control the morphology, composition, and performance of this particular protein-mineral hybrid, formed by glucose oxidase and cobalt phosphate. This approach aims to enhance the adherence and electron mobility between the enzyme and a carbon electrode. The strategy relies on dressing the protein in a tailored thin nanogel with multivalent chemical motifs. The functional groups of the polymer facilitate the fast protein sequence-independent biomineralization. Furthermore, the engineered enzymes enable the fabrication of robust cobalt-loaded enzyme inorganic hybrids with exceptional protein loads, exceeding 90% immobilization yields. Notably, these engineered biohybrids can be readily deposited onto flat electrode surfaces without requiring chemical pre-treatment. The resulting bioelectrodes are robust and exhibit electrochemical responses even without the addition of a redox mediator, suggesting that cobalt complexes promote electron wiring between the active site of the enzyme and the electrode.  相似文献

The present contribution reports the design, manufacture and experimental proof of concept of an ethanol micro-reformer for portable-fuel cell feeding. Through photo-assisted electrochemical etching, a silicon micromonolithic substrate with perfectly parallel cylindrical channels of 3.3 μm diameter was achieved (density of channels of ca. 4 × 104 channels mm−2). The channel walls were coated with a cobalt-based catalyst. The resultant functionalized micromonoliths were implemented in a stainless steel microreactor including feed evaporation facilities and electrical heating. The unit was successfully tested for ethanol steam reforming under non-diluted feed conditions at 773 K, achieving high hydrogen specific production rates, high ethanol conversions (>80%) and adequate selectivity profiles, with H2:CO2 molar ratios of ∼3 and low CO outlet concentrations. A performance comparison was performed with two other reforming substrates with the same catalyst formulation, namely, a conventional cordierite monolith and a conventional stainless steel microreactor. Results show for the Si-micromonolithic reactor a remarkable improvement of the specific hydrogen production rate (per unit reactor volume and feed flowrate), operating at considerably reduced residence times, due to the increase in contact area per unit volume.  相似文献

During biohydrogenation-induced milk fat depression (MFD), nutrients are spared from milk fat synthesis and are available for other metabolic uses. Acetate is the major carbon source spared and it may increase lipid synthesis in adipose tissue during MFD. The objective of this study was to compare the effect of trans-10,cis-12 conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and the amount of acetate spared during CLA-induced MFD on adipose tissue lipogenesis. Nine multiparous, lactating, ruminally cannulated Holstein cows (244 ± 107 d in milk; 25 ± 8.4 kg of milk/d; mean ± standard deviation) were randomly assigned to treatments in a 3 × 3 Latin square design. Experimental periods were 4 d followed by a 10-d washout. Treatments were control (CON), ruminal infusion of acetate (AC; continuous infusion of 7 mol/d adjusted to pH 6.1 with sodium hydroxide), or abomasal infusion of CLA (10 g/d of both trans-10,cis-12 CLA and cis-9,trans-11 CLA). Dry matter intake, milk yield, and milk protein yield and percentage were not affected by treatments. Compared with CON, milk fat yield decreased 23% and fat percent decreased 28% in CLA, and milk fat yield increased 20% in AC. Concentration and yield of milk de novo synthesized fatty acids (<C16) were reduced and concentration of preformed fatty acids (>C16) was increased by CLA, compared with CON. Yield of de novo synthesized fatty acids and palmitic acid was increased by AC, compared with CON. Lipogenesis capacity of adipose tissue explants was decreased 72% by CLA, but was not affected by AC. Acetate oxidation by adipose explants was not affected by treatments. Treatments had no effect on expression of key lipogenic factors, lipogenic enzymes, and leptin; however, expression of fatty acid binding protein 4 was reduced in CLA compared with CON. Additionally, hormone-sensitive lipase and perilipin 1 were decreased by CLA and acetate. Plasma glucose and glucagon concentrations were not affected by treatments; however, CLA increased nonesterified fatty acids 17.7%, β-hydroxybutyrate 16.1%, and insulin 27.8% compared with CON, and AC increased plasma β-hydroxybutyrate 18%. In conclusion, during CLA-induced MFD in low-producing cow adipose tissue was sensitive to the anti-lipogenic effects of CLA, while spared acetate did not stimulate adipose lipogenesis. However, acetate may play an important role in stimulating lipogenesis and improving energy status in the mammary gland under normal conditions.  相似文献

The effects of the caprine αS1-casein (CSN1S1) polymorphisms on milk quality have been widely demonstrated. However, much less is known about the consequences of the κ-casein (CSN3) genotype on milk composition in goats. Moreover, the occurrence of interactions between CSN3 and CSN1S1 genotypes has not been investigated. In this study, an association analysis between CSN1S1 and CSN3 genotypes and milk quality traits was performed in 89 Murciano-Granadina goats. Total milk yield as well as total protein, fat, solids-not-fat, lactose, αS1-casein (CSN1S1), and αS2-casein (CSN1S2) contents were recorded every other month during a whole lactation (316 observations). Data analysis using a linear mixed model for repeated observations revealed no interaction between the CSN1S1 and CSN3 genotypes. With regard to the effect of the CSN3 locus, AB and BB genotypes were significantly associated with higher levels of total casein and protein content compared with the AA CSN3 genotype. In strong contrast with French breeds, the CSN1S1 genotype did not affect protein, casein, and fat concentrations in Murciano-Granadina goats. These results highlight the importance of taking into consideration the CSN3 genotype when performing selection for milk composition in dairy goats.  相似文献

Production planning and scheduling are usually performed in a sequential manner, thus generating unfeasibility conflicts. Moreover, solving these problems in complex manufacturing systems (with several products sharing different resources) is very challenging in production management. This paper addresses the solution of multi-item multi-period multi-resource single-level lot-sizing and scheduling problems in general manufacturing systems with job-shop configurations. The mathematical formulation is a generalisation of the one used for the Capacitated Lot-Sizing Problem, including detailed capacity constraints for a fixed sequence of operations. The solution method combines a Lagrangian heuristic, determining a feasible production plan for a fixed sequence of operations, with a sequence improvement method which iteratively feeds the heuristic. Numerical results demonstrate that this approach is efficient and more appropriate than a standard solver for solving complex problems, regarding solution quality and computational requirements.  相似文献

The conventional design process of a launching nose of an incrementally launched bridge is based on trial-and-error methods to reduce bending moment of prestressed concrete deck at the foremost support during launch. With this method, there is no guarantee that the obtained solution is the best among all the possible solutions, since they all depend on the experience and intuition of a designer, and they are also restricted by a limited number of possible iterations. Given that launched bridges constitute an important constructive typology, all the available capacities of design innovation should be incorporated, including numerical optimization. This research work proposes an objective and rigorous formulation to optimize the launching nose of a launched bridge under real constraints that a bridge designer can encounter in practice. Comparing the results obtained by conventional process and those obtained by optimization techniques allows us to verify that some of the assumptions considered in classical design methods of a launching nose are not based on any theoretical foundation. This fact demonstrates the utility of numerical optimization to improve a design.  相似文献

The effects of the caprine α s1-casein (CSN1S1) polymorphisms on milk quality and cheese yield have been widely studied in French and Italian goat breeds. Much less is known about the consequences of κ-casein (CSN3) genotype on the technological and coagulation properties of goat milk. In the current study, we have performed an association analysis between polymorphisms at the goat CSN1S1 and CSN3 genes and milk coagulation (rennet coagulation time, curdling rate and curd firmness) and technological (time to cutting of curd and cheese yield) properties. In this analysis, we have included 193 records from 74 Murciano-Granadina goats (with genotypes constituted by different combinations of alleles B, E and F of the gene CSN1S1 and alleles A and B of the gene CSN3) distributed in three herds, which were collected bimonthly during a whole lactation. Data analysis, using a linear mixed model for repeated observations, revealed significant associations between CSN1S1 genotypes and the rate of the curdling process. In this way, milk from EE goats had a significantly higher curdling rate than milk from BB individuals (P<0?·05). Contrary to previous experiments performed in French breeds, cheese yield was not significantly different in BB, EE and EF goats. Moreover, we have shown that CSN3 genotype has a significant effect on the rennet coagulation time (BB>AB, P<0?·05) but not on cheese yield. No interaction between the CSN1S1 and CSN3 genotypes was observed.  相似文献
