Ballast contamination by fine materials such as sand and clay in railway track at arid regions is an important issue that causes track instability problems and settlement due to reduction of shear strength of ballast. In this paper, the results of direct shear box test conducted on clean ballast, sand-fouled ballast and clay-fouled ballast for different ballast gradations are reported and discussed. For this purpose, three different fouling amounts according to fouling index are added to clean ballast. Test results show that by increasing the fouling percentage, the ballast shear strength always decreases both for sand and clay fouled ballast. However, the amount of shear strength reduction is low at high normal stresses. Clay contamination has more adverse effect on the shear strength of ballast compared with sand contamination. Also, the results of tests for evaluation of gradation effect on shear strength of fouled ballast which are conducted on various gradations according to American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association, show that the maximum particle size as well as uniformity coefficient affect the shear strength of ballast. Also, an empirical equation is presented to observe the effect of ballast gradation on reduction of shear strength with regard to amount of fouling material and normal stress.  相似文献

Technical development in electronic devices is frequently stifled by their insufficient capacity and cyclic stability of energy-storage devices. The nano-structured materials have sensational importance for providing novel and optimized combination to overcome exiting boundaries and provide efficient energy storage systems. Metal hydroxide materials with high capacity for pseudo-capacitance properties have grabbed special attention. Lately, the blend of nickel and cobalt hydroxides has been considered as a favorable class of metallic hydroxide materials owing to their comparatively high capacitance and exceptional redox reversibility. The sulfonated carbon nanotube fluid (SCNTF) was prepared by the ion exchange method to be utilized as the exceptional templates due to astonishing specific surface area, ensuring the maximum utilization of the active material. The CoNi-layered double hydroxides (LDHs)/SCNTF core-shell nanocomposite was prepared by the simple solvothermal method. Structural analysis showed that the composite material had the high conductance of carbon materials, the pseudo-capacitance characteristics of metal hydroxides, and porous structure, which facilitates the ion shuttle when the electrolyte reacts with the active material. Electrochemical analysis results showed that CoNi-LDHs/SCNTF had excellent rate performance, reversible charge-discharge properties and cycle stability. It exhibited an extreme specific capacity of 1190.5 F g?1 at a current density of 1 A g?1; whereas specific capacity remained 953.7 F g?1 at the current density was 10 A g?1. In addition, the capacity retention rate after 5000 charge-discharge cycles at a current density of 20 A g?1 was 81.0%. The results indicated that the CoNi-LDHs/SCNTF core-shell nanocomposite material is cost efficient and an effective substitute in energy storage applications.  相似文献

Exploring high conductive materials is still a challenge for high performance intermediate-temperature fuel cells. In this study, two-dimensional LiAl0.5Co0.5O2 (LACO) nanosheets coated by a compatible amorphous LiAlO2 (LAO) layer are evaluated as proton/Li+ conductor electrolyte. The fuel cell in which the LAO-LACO is used as electrolyte could deliver the maximum power output of 1120 mW cm?2 at 550 °C. The LAO coating enhances not only the ionic conductivity by modifying the space-charge regions, but also improves the LACO's chemical stability and device performance. Kelvin probe force microscopy further detected a local electric field (LEF) built in the LAO-LACO coating confines protons at the interface to transport fast. Such heterostructure with the LEF accelerating mechanism presents a novel approach for developing high-performance intermediate-temperature fuel cells.  相似文献

The growth of the networks has difficult network management. Recently, a concept called software‐defined network (SDN) has been proposed to address this issue, which makes network management more adaptable. Control and forwarding planes are separated in SDN. The control plane is a centralized logical controller that controls the network. The forwarding plane that consists of transfer devices is responsible for transmitting packets. Because the network resources are limited, optimizing the use of resources in the networks is an important issue. Load balancing improves the balanced distribution of loads across multiple resources in order to maximize the reliability and network resources efficiency. SDN controllers can create an optimal load balancing compared to traditional networks because they have a network global view. The load‐balancing problem can be solved using many different nature‐inspired meta‐heuristic techniques because it has the NP‐complete nature. Hence, for solving load balancing problem in SDN, nature‐inspired meta‐heuristic techniques are important methods. However, to the best of our knowledge, there is not a survey or systematic review on studying these matters. Accordingly, in the area of the load balancing in the SDN, this paper reviews systematically the nature‐inspired meta‐heuristic techniques. Also, this study demonstrates advantages and disadvantages regarded of the chosen nature‐inspired meta‐heuristic techniques and considers their algorithms metrics. Moreover, to apply better load balancing techniques in the future, the important challenges of these techniques have been investigated.  相似文献

A key theory in concrete mix design is maximizing aggregate packing density (PD) of aggregate mixture. Different methods have been presented by researchers to estimate PD of aggregate mixture. One such method is computer simulation that has become increasingly common over the last decade; however, it is usually a time-consuming procedure. In the current study, a method based on computer simulation is proposed for estimating aggregate PD. In this method, aggregates with specific shapes, grading and PDs are substituted by monosized spherical aggregates. An equation is also presented for determining the diameter of equivalent monosized aggregates. The coefficient of friction between the equivalent monosized aggregates is determined in a way that the monosized aggregates will have a PD equal to that of actual aggregates. The proposed method is also used to simulate laboratory experiments conducted by the present authors and other researchers. Comparisons reveal the high accuracy of the proposed simple method in predicting the PD of aggregate mixtures.  相似文献

In this work, Fe-doped (1?wt%) TiO2 loaded on the activated carbon nano-composite was prepared using a sol-gel method. A prepared nano-composite was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), BET surface area, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The photocatalytic activity of the nano-composite was evaluated through degradation of synthetic textile wastewater, reactive red 198, under visible light irradiations. The XRD result indicated that the TiO2 nano-composite contained only anatase phase. The surface area of the TiO2 increased from 48?m2/g to 100?m2/g through the fabrication of the nano-composite. The FE-SEM results indicate that the TiO2 particles with an average particle size of 35–70?nm can be deposited homogeneously on the activated carbon surface. DRS showed that the Fe doping in the TiO2 -activated carbon nano-composite induced a significant red shift of the absorption edge and then the band gap energy decreased from 3.3 to 2.9?eV. Photocatalytic results indicated that the photocatalytic activity of the Fe doped TiO2 increased under visible light irradiation in the presence of the activated carbon.  相似文献
