Phosphonium salts with different alkyl chains as substituents were incorporated covalently on the surfaces of cellulose filters with silane coupling agents containing phosphonium ions, and their surface antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were explored by the viable cell-counting method in sterile distilled water. The filters incorporating phosphonium biocides showed higher antibacterial activity, and its activity strongly depended on the structure of substituents. The surface-treated filters may be used to sterilize air and water, including microorganisms. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Three types of CeO2–ZrO2 (Ce:Zr=1:1 molar ratio) compounds with different oxygen storage/release capacities (OSCs) were characterized by means of the Ce K-edge and Zr K-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS). In order to investigate the relationship between the OSC and local structure, the quantitative EXAFS curve-fitting analysis was applied. By enhancing the homogeneity of the Ce and Zr atoms in the CeO2–ZrO2 solid solution, the OSC performance increased. Especially, the atomically homogeneous Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 solid solution exhibited the highest OSC among these CeO2–ZrO2 samples. Additionally, the local oxygen environment around Ce and Zr was remarkably modified by enhancing the homogeneity of the CeO2–ZrO2 solid solution. It was postulated that the enhancement of the homogeneity of the CeO2–ZrO2 solid solution and the modification of the oxygen environment would be the source for the OSC improvement.  相似文献

In this paper, the authors investigated the reflection and absorption characteristics of a general photovoltaic (PV) module. As a result, the electromagnetic waves could be attenuated only 6 dB in typical PV module. However, if the PV module is installed in the outer wall of buildings, electromagnetic interference is caused by the surroundings. To reduce this electromagnetic interference, the authors suggested a method to absorb electromagnetic wave using multiple PV modules that have deference impedance, and simulation was performed. As a result, it was confirmed that using a typical PV module and the PV module including electronic device, the reflection waves of those PV modules could be attenuated up to 12 dB.  相似文献

Many photocatalyst materials for water splitting have been developed, particularly since the second half of the 1990s. Highly efficient water splitting on tantalate photocatalysts under UV irradiation has been achieved. Moreover, band engineering by doping, valence band formation, and synthesis of solid solutions, has led to the development of a large number of visible light-driven photocatalysts for H2H2 or O2O2 evolution from aqueous solutions containing electron donors or acceptors. Z-scheme photocatalyst systems for water splitting to H2H2 and O2O2 under visible light irradiation have been developed. This progress in the development of visible light-driven photocatalysts for water splitting is reviewed.  相似文献

Late health effects of exposure to atomic bomb radiation have been evaluated in survivors. A cohort of 120 321 people has been followed since 1950 for mortality, including the cause of death using the Japanese population registry system (Life Span Study), and for cancer incidence using population-based cancer registries. Findings have included a markedly increased risk of leukaemia several years after the exposure, increased risk of various malignant tumours several decades after the exposure and, more recently, findings of increased rates of non-cancer diseases such as cardiovascular diseases.  相似文献

Fine-grained Mg-3Al-Zn alloys with various oxygen contents were prepared by a powder metallurgy process, and the effect of oxygen content on the impact toughness of the fine-grained magnesium alloys was quantitatively investigated. It is found that the impact toughness of magnesium alloys with mean grain size smaller than 3 μm is extremely high when the oxygen content is less than 400 pp, but it becomes very low as the oxygen content is higher than 1000 ppm. Both magnesium oxides and hydroxides are detected in the magnesium alloys. The presence of excessive magnesium oxides and hydroxides deteriorates the dynamic plastic deformation ability of the fine-grained magnesium alloys.  相似文献

Optical confinement effect of thin-film polycrystalline-Si (poly-Si) solar cell on glass substrate fabricated at low-temperature has been investigated as a function of cell thickness of less than 5 μm. We found that it is possible to fabricate the textured Si thin film in situ on a glass substrate and that the reflectance at long-wavelength light is reduced by surface texturing. Thin-film poly-Si solar cell and a-Si:H/(0.45 μm)/poly-Si (5 μm) tandem solar cell exhibit the efficiency of 8.6% and 12.8%, respectively. The numerical study in terms of the light trapping explains the excellent high short-circuit current density (sc above 27 mA/cm2 at the 4.7 μm thin-film poly-Si solar cell.  相似文献

Torrential rainfall in mid-July 2009 triggered numerous geodisasters such as slope failure and debris flow in Chugoku and Northern Kyushu areas of Japan. A number of slope failures and debris flows occurred in Yamaguchi and Fukuoka prefectures resulting in extensive damage to human life and infrastructure. One of the most serious geodisasters included a slope failure followed by debris flow at Sasaguri-machi and Fukuchi-machi, Fukuoka prefecture, Japan. This paper summarizes the results of geotechnical investigations on the geodisaster sites in Fukuoka prefecture. The geotechnical investigation included determining a series of grain size distributions, consistency limits and conducting direct box shear tests for collapsed soils collected at six disaster sites. The generation mechanisms of slope failure followed by debris flow were also investigated by analyzing the precipitation, topography, geology, and strength properties of the collapsed soils. Moreover, slope deformation and stability analyses were coupled with an unsaturated-saturated seepage analysis to investigate the slope failure mechanism. The main findings from the study are summarized as: The physical properties, such as the grain size distribution, the plastic limit and liquid limit of collapsed soils, are summarized and compared with the results of other failure slopes in the literature. The collapsed soil was characterized as being a well grained soil (the uniformity coefficient >50) and highly weathered (the ignition loss >5%), however, with regard to the liquid limit and plastic index, there were no remarkable findings. The original shear strength for collapsed soils with natural water content is relatively large and slope failure doesn't occur because the cohesion in the shear strength is induced by a suction force between the soil particles under unsaturated condition. However, water seepage into the soil induces a drastic decrease in the shear strength, which is mainly caused by a decrease in cohesion (losing suction) resulting from soil saturation. In addition, the drained/undrained condition in the shear process is also sensitive to shear strength. For example, both water seepage and the shear process with constant volume cause an approximate 30% reduction in shear strength for Fukuchi-machi and Sasaguri-machi soil samples. Therefore, the reduction of cohesive strength due to water seepage and the low permeability of the slope are the parameters which trigger geodisaster. Based on the results of slope deformation and a stability analyses which took the change in water pressure and cohesive strength into account, the geodisaster at Fukuchi-machi was simulated, it is reasonable to assume that the shallow failure near the top of slope occurred due to torrential precipitation of about 100 mm per hour which triggered a debris flow.  相似文献

Studies in vitro suggested that inflammatory cytokines could cause myocardial dysfunction. However, the detailed mechanism for the cytokine-induced myocardial dysfunction in vivo remains to be examined. We thus examined this point in our new canine model in vivo, in which microspheres with and without IL-1beta were injected into the left main coronary artery. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was evaluated by echocardiography for 1 wk. Immediately after the microsphere injection, LVEF decreased to approximately 30% in both groups. While LVEF rapidly normalized in 2 d in the control group, it was markedly impaired in the IL-1beta group even at day 7. Pretreatment with dexamethasone or with aminoguanidine, an inhibitor of inducible nitric oxide synthase, prevented the IL-1beta-induced myocardial dysfunction. Nitrotyrosine concentration, an in vivo marker of the peroxynitrite production by nitric oxide and superoxide anion, was significantly higher in the myocardium of the IL-1beta group than in that of the control group or the group cotreated with dexamethasone or aminoguanidine. There was an inverse linear relationship between myocardial nitrotyrosine concentrations and LVEF. These results indicate that IL-1beta induces sustained myocardial dysfunction in vivo and that nitric oxide produced by inducible nitric oxide synthase and the resultant formation of peroxynitrite are substantially involved in the pathogenesis of the cytokine-induced sustained myocardial dysfunction in vivo.  相似文献

We report on the direct deposition of high-quality ZrO2 thin films on various kinds of substrates by the liquid phase deposition method. After reaction for 24 h, thin films formed on various kinds of substrates, and the obtained thin film was comprised of densely packed nano-sized particles. The film annealed at 500°C showed a tetragonal phase at room temperature and this phenomenon has been discussed from the viewpoint of crystallite size effect. The result of optical transmittance measurement revealed that high transparency, more than 70% transmittance, has been achieved for the film after annealing at 900°C.  相似文献
