The steady state solution of the double-ended queue involving taxis and customers at a taxi stand has been considered under the assumption that there is limited waiting space both for taxis and for customers. Taxis arrive according to mixed Erlangian input, the mean times of stay in the various phases which comprise the arrival channel not being the same. The arrivals of customers are assumed to be Poisson distributed. We obtain an expression for the probabilities that there aren units in the queue. The cases of exponential and 2-Erlang arrival distributions for taxis have been considered as particular cases. For the 2-Erlang arrival distribution for taxis, we have evaluated the probabilities that the waiting space for customers or taxis is full; their values are also shown by means of graphs. We are interested in modeling behaviors and verifying properties of systems in which time and concurrency play a crucial role. We introduce a model of distributed automata which are equipped with event clocks as in Alur et al. (Theor Comput Sci 211:253–273, 1999), which we call Event Clock Message Passing Automata (ECMPA). To describe the behaviors of such systems we use timed partial orders (modeled as message sequence charts with timing). Our first goal is to extend the classical Büchi-Elgot-Trakhtenbrot equivalence to the timed and distributed setting, by showing an equivalence between ECMPA and a timed extension of monadic second-order (MSO) logic. We obtain such a constructive equivalence in two different ways: (1) by restricting the semantics by bounding the set of timed partial orders; (2) by restricting the timed MSO logic to its existential fragment. We next consider the emptiness problem for ECMPA, which asks if a given ECMPA has some valid timed execution. In general this problem is undecidable and we show that by considering only bounded timed executions, we can obtain decidability. We do this by constructing a timed automaton which accepts all bounded timed executions of the ECMPA and checking emptiness of this timed automaton.  相似文献

Well aligned carbon nanowalls, a few nanometers thick, were fabricated by continuous flow of aluminum acetylacetonate (Al(acac)3) without a catalyst, and independent of substrate material. The nanowalls were grown on Si, and steel substrates using inductively coupled plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. Deposition parameters like flow of argon gas and substrate temperature were correlated with the growth of carbon nanowalls. For a high flow of argon carrier gas, an increased amount of aluminum in the film and a reduced lateral size of the carbon walls were found. The aluminum is present inside the carbon nanowall matrix in the form of well crystallized nanosized Al4C3 precipitates.  相似文献

Binding of soy phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylinositol (PI) with β-cyclodextrin (βCD) was studied using a spread monolayer technique at the air–water interface. First, surface pressure (π) versus surface concentration (Γ) isotherms of both PC and PI were characterized by forming spread monolayers on an aqueous subphase. PC and PI monolayers reached saturation at Γ of 1.98 and 3.24 μmol/m2, respectively, at 25 °C. Subsequently, desorption of PC or PI from the spread monolayer in the presence of 2–14 mM βCD in the subphase was studied by measuring changes in π of monolayer. This desorption was indicative of a complex formation between βCD and PC or PI. The amount of PC or PI bound to βCD was determined by converting the net change in π to Γ by using π–Γ isotherms. From the saturated monolayers at the air water-interface, approximately 30% of PC and 50% of PI could be removed by 14 mM βCD. It was calculated that the free energy change required to transfer a PL from the monolayer at air–water interface to the aqueous phase in presence of βCD was decreased by 6–7 kcal/mol. Hydrolysis of PC in the monolayer by phospholipase A2 (PLA2) improved extraction efficiency of βCD. By incorporating 2.29 μM PLA2 and 10 mM βCD in subphase, up to 80% of PC monolayer could be desorbed from the air–water interface. These results are discussed in terms of the potential use of βCD to remove PLs bound to soy protein.  相似文献

In the current work, AISI 4140 steel was pack-boronized at 950°C for 3 h and gas-nitrided at 550°C for 72 h. All specimens used in this work were prepared from the same steel bar. A 3-µm-thick diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating (a-C:H) was deposited on the AISI D2 high-carbon, high-chromium, cold-worked tool steel by a plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition technique. Normalized, boronized, and nitrided steel pins were tested against DLC-coated AISI D2 steel at various normal loads (15, 30, 60, and 80 N) for 1,000 and 3,000 m sliding distance in ambient air. Specific wear rate of all pins decreased with increasing load, and a similar trend was observed for the coefficient of friction (COF). Microscopic and energy-dispersive spectroscopic (EDS) analysis confirmed the role of the transfer layer for a low COF with increasing load. At all loads, the specific wear rate of boronized pins was lower than that of the nitrided and normalized pin specimens. Boronized pins showed a specific wear rate in the range of 0.27 × 10?8 to 0.44 × 10?8 mm3/Nm and the COF was about 0.1.  相似文献

One of the contributing factors to generation of off-flavours in soy protein isolate (SPI) during storage is autoxidation of residual amounts of phospholipids present in SPI. Thus, removal of phospholipids from SPI is a likely first step to improve its flavour stability and enhanced utilisation of SPI in food products. We describe a β-cyclodextrin-based (βCD) process to remove protein-bound phospholipids and free fatty acids in SPI. Treating SPI solution (8%) with 10 mM βCD alone at pH 8.0 decreased the phospholipid content of SPI by about 36%. A greater than 99% removal of phospholipids and free fatty acids was achieved by using a combination of treatments involving sonication of the SPI solution for 5 min at 50 °C followed by treatment with phospholipase A2 and βCD. SPI prepared by this method was white in colour. The results presented here offer a process for removing residual off-flavour causing phospholipids from soy protein.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to optimize the number of collectors for PV/T hybrid active solar still. The number of PV/T collectors connected in series has been integrated with the basin of solar still. The optimization of number of collectors for different heat capacity of water has been carried out on the basis of energy and exergy. Expressions of inner glass, outer glass and water temperature have been derived for the hybrid active solar system. For the numerical computations data of a summer day (May 22, 2008) for Delhi climatic condition have been used. It has been observed that with increase of the mass of water in the basin increases the optimum number of collector. However the daily and exergy efficiency decreases linearly and nonlinearly with increase of water mass. It has been observed that the maximum yield occurs at N = 4 for 50 kg of water mass on the basis of exergy efficiency. The thermal model has also been experimentally validated.  相似文献

MRI was performed on patients with miliary pulmonary tuberculosis to look for brain involvement and to study the features sequentially, during treatment. We studied seven patients with typical radiographic tuberculosis, and no symptoms or signs of central nervous system involvement. Conventional spin-echo (SE) imaging, including contrast enhanced images, was performed in all cases. All patients showed brain involvement: four patients showed lesions mainly less than 3 mm in diameter, better seen on contrast-enhanced images. These patients showed oedema around the lesions after 2 months of treatment, with subsequent regression on follow-up. The remaining three patients had multiple lesions, 3 mm or more in diameter, which showed a gradual decrease on follow-up. We conclude that the brain may commonly be involved in miliary pulmonary tuberculosis. The response to treatment depends on the stage of the granuloma and shows a definite pattern of healing on follow-up.  相似文献

Changes in peptide antigen concentration or structure can have a profound effect on T cell responsiveness by inducing selected T cell effector functions. In this study, we have compared the biological responses of an MBP83-99-specific human Th0 T cell clone (TCC) stimulated with increasing concentrations of native peptide or an altered peptide ligand (APL). Our results show that the hierarchy of response thresholds for proliferation and cytokine secretion is similar for native peptide and APL. However, because a much higher concentration of the APL is required to evoke the same degree of response, the cytokine profile is shifted towards a Th2-like response relative to the same concentration of native peptide. In addition, we observed qualitative differences in TCR signal transduction triggered by native peptide and a weak agonist APL even at concentrations that elicit similar biological responses. Thus, the relationship between TCR signaling and biological responses may be more complex than previously recognized.  相似文献

Liquefaction data in the presence and absence of added catalysts were obtained for two coals from the Argonne premium Sample Bank (Beulah-Zap lignite and Utah Blind Canyon high volatile bituminous). Experiments were carried out in tubing bomb microautoclave batch reactors over a broad temperature range (310 to 425 °C), and THF and hexane conversion profiles were measured at residence times of 5, 10, 15, and 30 minutes in order to elucidate the effect of both time and temperature at reaction conditions ranging from low to high severity. All runs were carried out in a non-donor vehicle (l-methylnaphthalene) using powdered presulfided Shell 324 as the catalyst.

The results generally reflect the expected trends for catalyst on coal conversion, in that the primary influence of catalyst was found to be in terms of promoting conversion of coal to hexane solubles. A hexane selectivity parameter was developed and utilized to provide insight into the role and effect of catalyst.  相似文献
