The majority of off-road vehicles employed in agriculture are equipped with a hydraulic steering. An efficient way of automating the steering mechanism of these vehicles is by controlling the electrohydraulic valve that operates the steering cylinder. Electronically-controlled hydraulic valves often behave nonlinearly and, consequently, they introduce certain complexities in the analysis of the hydraulic system. Therefore, it is necessary to understand their behavior before designing a control system that is able to auto-steer an agricultural machine safely and efficiently. The objective of this work was to characterize the performance of an electrohydraulic valve with the aid of a set of experiments conducted on a hardware-in-the-loop electrohydraulic simulator. The operation of the valve was classified in four types (I, II, III, and IV) according to the valve characteristic curves and the properties of the input signal. The phenomena of deadband, hysteresis, and saturation helped to discriminate between types. The input signal, especially its frequency, was crucial in studying the functioning of the valve. The hardware-in-the-loop simulator was fed with signals that imitated the auto-steering action. The outcomes obtained from this research provide some critically supporting information for designing high performance steering controllers for agricultural vehicles. 相似文献

Unlike nearly all engineered materials which contain bonds that weaken under load, biological materials contain “catch” bonds which are reinforced under load. Consequently, materials, such as the cell cytoskeleton, can adapt their mechanical properties in response to their state of internal, non-equilibrium (active) stress. However, how large-scale material properties vary with the distance from equilibrium is unknown, as are the relative roles of active stress and binding kinetics in establishing this distance. Through course-grained molecular dynamics simulations, the effect of breaking of detailed balance by catch bonds on the accumulation and dissipation of energy within a model of the actomyosin cytoskeleton is explored. It is found that the extent to which detailed balance is broken uniquely determines a large-scale fluid-solid transition with characteristic time-reversal symmetries. The transition depends critically on the strength of the catch bond, suggesting that active stress is necessary but insufficient to mount an adaptive mechanical response. 相似文献

Here, an approach is presented to incorporate graphene nanosheets into a silicone rubber matrix via solid stabilization of oil‐in‐water emulsions. These emulsions can be cured into discrete, graphene‐coated silicone balls or continuous, elastomeric films by controlling the degree of coalescence. The electromechanical properties of the resulting composites as a function of interdiffusion time and graphene loading level are characterized. With conductivities approaching 1 S m?1, elongation to break up to 160%, and a gauge factor of ≈20 in the low‐strain linear regime, small strains such as pulse can be accurately measured. At higher strains, the electromechanical response exhibits a robust exponential dependence, allowing accurate readout for higher strain movements such as chest motion and joint bending. The exponential gauge factor is found to be ≈20, independent of loading level and valid up to 80% strain; this consistent performance is due to the emulsion‐templated microstructure of the composites. The robust behavior may facilitate high‐strain sensing in the nonlinear regime using nanocomposites, where relative resistance change values in excess of 107 enable highly accurate bodily motion monitoring. 相似文献

The Ti–Ni–W two‐phase shape memory alloy (SMA) thin film system is presented as a prototype for new SMAs with tailorable thermal transformation hysteresis (ΔT). The concept is to combine the SMA TiNi with almost insoluble W to create the two‐phase system (TiNi)–(β‐W). This system behaves like a pseudobinary TiNi system. Phase transformation behavior for compositions above the solubility limit of W in TiNi exhibit a B2–R phase transformation with characteristically small ΔT. Moreover, ΔT is dependent on the amount of W and it can be tailored to zero and even negative. This phenomenon is rationalized as being due to the mechanical interaction between the phases B2‐TiNi and β‐W. The presented results are very promising for the development of high‐speed Ti–Ni‐based SMA actuators. 相似文献

We consider the carrier frequency offset estimation in a digital burst-mode satellite transmission affected by phase noise. The corresponding Cramer-Rao lower bound is analyzed for linear modulations under a Wiener phase noise model and in the hypothesis of knowledge of the transmitted data. Even if we resort to a Monte Carlo average, from a computational point of view the evaluation of the Cramer-Rao bound is very hard. We introduce a simple but very accurate approximation that allows to carry out this task in a very easy way. As it will be shown, the presence of the phase noise produces a remarkable performance degradation of. the frequency estimation accuracy. In addition, we provide asymptotic expressions of the Cramer-Rao bound, from which the effect of the phase noise and the dependence on the system parameters of the frequency offset estimation accuracy clearly result. Finally, as a by-product of our derivations and approximations, we derive a couple of estimators specifically tailored for the phase noise channel that will be compared with the classical Rife and Boorstyn algorithm, gaining in this way some important hints on the estimators to be used in this scenario 相似文献

This study examined face threat and facework strategies when people witness family members disclosing sensitive health information to family outsiders. Korean and U.S. participants were expected to view these situations differently based on Confucian versus individualist identity and in‐group privacy norms. Korean and U.S. college samples evaluated vignettes in which health information was disclosed to family outsiders. Koreans regarded the situations as more face threatening and endorsed dominating facework in these situations to a greater extent than did Americans. The 2 cultures also showed strong similarities. Results confirmed the cultural basis of privacy expectations but contradicted some accounts of culturally based facework. Koreans did not consistently endorse indirect facework, nor did Americans show notable directness in response to privacy violations. 相似文献

Blind MPEG-2 video watermarking robust against geometric attacks: a set of approaches in DCT domain.
A set of robust MPEG-2 video watermarking techniques is proposed, focusing on commonly used typical geometric processing for bit-rate reduction, cropping, removal of any rows, arbitrary-ratio downscaling, and frame dropping. Both the embedding and the extraction of watermarks are done in the compressed domain, so the computational cost is low. Moreover, the watermark extraction is blind, i.e., no original unwatermarked MPEG-2 video is needed for watermark extraction. Fiber drawing enables scalable fabrication of multifunctional flexible fibers that integrate electrical, optical, and microfluidic modalities to record and modulate neural activity. Constraints on thermomechanical properties of materials, however, have prevented integrated drawing of metal electrodes with low-loss polymer waveguides for concurrent electrical recording and optical neuromodulation. Here, two fabrication approaches are introduced: 1) an iterative thermal drawing with a soft, low melting temperature (Tm) metal indium, and 2) a metal convergence drawing with traditionally non-drawable high Tm metal tungsten. Both approaches deliver multifunctional flexible neural interfaces with low-impedance metallic electrodes and low-loss waveguides, capable of recording optically-evoked and spontaneous neural activity in mice over several weeks. These fibers are coupled with a light-weight mechanical microdrive (1 g) that enables depth-specific interrogation of neural circuits in mice following chronic implantation. Finally, the compatibility of these fibers with magnetic resonance imaging is demonstrated and they are applied to visualize the delivery of chemical payloads through the integrated channels in real time. Small amounts of impurity, even one part in one thousand, in polymer bulk heterojunction solar cells can alter the electronic properties of the device, including reducing the open circuit voltage, the short circuit current and the fill factor. Steady state studies show a dramatic increase in the trap‐assisted recombination rate when [6,6]‐phenyl C84 butyric acid methyl ester (PC84BM) is introduced as a trap site in polymer bulk heterojunction solar cells made of a blend of the copolymer poly[N‐9″‐hepta‐decanyl‐2,7‐carbazole‐alt‐5,5‐(4′,7′‐di‐2‐thienyl‐2′,1′,3′‐benzothiadiazole) (PCDTBT) and the fullerene derivative [6,6]‐phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester (PC60BM). The trap density dependent recombination studied here can be described as a combination of bimolecular and Shockley–Read–Hall recombination; the latter is dramatically enhanced by the addition of the PC84BM traps. This study reveals the importance of impurities in limiting the efficiency of organic solar cell devices and gives insight into the mechanism of the trap‐induced recombination loss. 相似文献
