Emotion researchers often categorize angry and fearful face stimuli as "negative" or "threatening". Perception of fear and anger, however, appears to be mediated by dissociable neural circuitries and often elicit distinguishable behavioral responses. Consumer credit scoring is often considered a classification task where clients receive either a good or a bad credit status. Default probabilities provide more detailed information about the creditworthiness of consumers, and they are usually estimated by logistic regression. Here, we present a general framework for estimating individual consumer credit risks by use of machine learning methods. Since a probability is an expected value, all nonparametric regression approaches which are consistent for the mean are consistent for the probability estimation problem. Among others, random forests (RF), k-nearest neighbors (kNN), and bagged k-nearest neighbors (bNN) belong to this class of consistent nonparametric regression approaches. We apply the machine learning methods and an optimized logistic regression to a large dataset of complete payment histories of short-termed installment credits. We demonstrate probability estimation in Random Jungle, an RF package written in C++ with a generalized framework for fast tree growing, probability estimation, and classification. We also describe an algorithm for tuning the terminal node size for probability estimation. We demonstrate that regression RF outperforms the optimized logistic regression model, kNN, and bNN on the test data of the short-term installment credits. 相似文献
Phase relations in the CaO–TiO2 system are of considerable interest in geology, metallurgy, and ceramics. Despite a number of studies of phase equilibria in the CaO–TiO2 system, there are still some open questions regarding the stability of intermediate compounds. In this work, a series of specimens with different CaO:TiO2 ratios were prepared by solid‐state reaction. The heat capacities of Ca3Ti2O7 and Ca4Ti3O10 from 300 to 1073 K were measured by differential scanning calorimetry and their formation enthalpies from the component oxides at 298 K were measured by high temperature oxide melt solution calorimetry. Using phase diagram information and thermodynamic data from the literature and the present measurements, thermodynamic optimization of the CaO–TiO2 system was carried out by the CALPHAD technique. The phase diagram and the thermodynamic properties of the CaO–TiO2 system were calculated using the obtained thermodynamic database, which clarify the stable and metastable phase equilibria of the system. Traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) elicits an acute inflammatory response which comprises numerous cell populations. It is driven by the immediate response of macrophages and microglia, which triggers activation of genes responsible for the dysregulated microenvironment within the lesion site and in the spinal cord parenchyma immediately adjacent to the lesion. Recently published data indicate that microglia induces astrocyte activation and determines the fate of astrocytes. Conversely, astrocytes have the potency to trigger microglial activation and control their cellular functions. Here we review current information about the release of diverse signaling molecules (pro-inflammatory vs. anti-inflammatory) in individual cell phenotypes (microglia, astrocytes, blood inflammatory cells) in acute and subacute SCI stages, and how they contribute to delayed neuronal death in the surrounding spinal cord tissue which is spared and functional but reactive. In addition, temporal correlation in progressive degeneration of neurons and astrocytes and their functional interactions after SCI are discussed. Finally, the review highlights the time-dependent transformation of reactive microglia and astrocytes into their neuroprotective phenotypes (M2a, M2c and A2) which are crucial for spontaneous post-SCI locomotor recovery. We also provide suggestions on how to modulate the inflammation and discuss key therapeutic approaches leading to better functional outcome after SCI. 相似文献
Microgravity, one of the conditions faced by astronauts during spaceflights, triggers brain adaptive responses that could have noxious consequences on behaviors. Although monoaminergic systems, which include noradrenaline (NA), dopamine (DA), and serotonin (5-HT), are widespread neuromodulatory systems involved in adaptive behaviors, the influence of microgravity on these systems is poorly documented. Using a model of simulated microgravity (SMG) during a short period in Long Evans male rats, we studied the distribution of monoamines in thirty brain regions belonging to vegetative, mood, motor, and cognitive networks. SMG modified NA and/or DA tissue contents along some brain regions belonging to the vestibular/motor systems (inferior olive, red nucleus, cerebellum, somatosensorily cortex, substantia nigra, and shell of the nucleus accumbens). DA and 5-HT contents were reduced in the prelimbic cortex, the only brain area exhibiting changes for 5-HT content. However, the number of correlations of one index of the 5-HT metabolism (ratio of metabolite and 5-HT) alone or in interaction with the DA metabolism was dramatically increased between brain regions. It is suggested that SMG, by mobilizing vestibular/motor systems, promotes in these systems early, restricted changes of NA and DA functions that are associated with a high reorganization of monoaminergic systems, notably 5-HT. 相似文献
Reliable, high temporal, and spatial resolution data is essential for enhancing our understanding of aquatic nitrogen biogeochemical cycling. This paper describes a novel UV spectrophotometric sensor (ProPS, TriOS GmbH, Oldenburg, Germany) for the real time, in situ, high resolution simultaneous mapping of nitrate/nitrite (linearity 0.01 - 6 mg N L(-1), RSD's NO3-N 4-10%, NO2-N 7-14%) in fresh and estuarine waters. Good agreement (t test at p = 0.05) was found with MOOS-1 certified reference material and with reference segmented flow analysis data. River Taw deployments identified a diurnal cycle for NO3-N (0.22-0.63 mg L(-1), RSD 3.9%) and for NO2-N (0.01-0.28 mg L(-1), RSD 12.4%) with the photo-oxidation of dissolved organic nitrogen a source of diurnal nitrate/nitrite, and a large cyclical amplitude (30-62% of mean nitrate/nitrite). In situ Tamar Estuary nitrate/nitrite concentrations, mapped through the salinity gradient, were strongly correlated with suspended particulate material and inversely correlated with dissolved oxygen and pH, indicating midestuarine, bacterially mediated nitrification/denitrification, with the raised estuarine nitrite also significantly correlated with particulate organic nitrogen. Such previously unquantified inputs have important implications for N loadings calculated from coarse scale sampling and laboratory analysis, pollution assessment, and our understanding of the biological rhythms of aquatic organisms. 相似文献
In this paper, a pyrolysis model for a PVC cable is constructed using results from thermogravimetric analysis, microscale combustion calorimeter and cone calorimeter experiments. The pyrolysis model is used to simulate fire propagation in horizontal cable trays. The simulated arrangement corresponds to a cable tray fire experiment from OECD PRISME 2 project. As laying the cables loosely along the horizontal trays is a random process, a novel stochastic method is developed for making the simplified cable tray geometries for the computational fluid dynamics model. In addition, as the simplified cable tray geometry has significantly smaller surface area than a real tray full of cables, the surface area was parametrically adjusted. In contrast to most of the earlier published numerical approaches for simulating cable tray fires, the presented approach does not use empirical correlations for predicting fire propagation and does not require any results from full-scale experiments for calibrating the model. The simulation results are compared to experimental results in terms of heat release rate, mass loss, tray ignition times and lateral flame spread rates. The maximum heat release rate was overpredicted by 8% on average.
In humans, the volatile C19-steroids androsta-4,16-dien-3-one (AND) and estra-1,3,5(10),16-tetraen-3-ol (EST) have been shown to modulate autonomic nervous system responses, and to cause hypothalamic activation in a gender-specific manner. Using two conditioning paradigms, the authors here show that pigtail macaques and squirrel monkeys of both sexes were able to detect AND and EST at concentrations in the micromolar and mM range, respectively. Male and female spider monkeys, in contrast, differed markedly in their sensitivity to these two odorous steroids, with males not showing any behavioral responses to the highest concentrations of AND tested and females not responding to the highest concentrations of EST.
