This laminar fluid study investigates the effects of a magnetic field on the entropy generation during fluid flow and heat transfer due to an exponentially stretching sheet. Using the suitable transformations we have obtained the analytical solutions for momentum and energy equation in terms of Kummer's function. The velocity and temperature profiles are obtained for various physical parameters which are utilized to find the entropy generation number Ns and the Bejan number Be. The effects of various parameters on entropy production number and the Bejan number are studied through graphs using velocity and temperature profiles. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 13CP/MAS NMR spectroscopic studies of some starches from cereals (wheat, maize and finger millet), pulses (green gram, chick pea), tuber (potato) and root (tapioca), and their respective acid (HCI, HNO3) modified starches were carried out. While cereal starches exhibited a triplet signal for their anomeric carbons, pulse, tuber and root starches showed doublets. Line width changes in signals indicated that debranching in the above modified starches led to narrowing of C6 signals (more pronounced in the case of potato and tapioca starches) and were consistent with the release of branching strains. Potato starch, both native and modified, was found to be different from other starches as inferred from the chemical shift values for their anomeric carbons and line shape. The dihedral angle (ϕ′2) calculated from chemical shift values for C1 and conformation of dihedral angel (x) as predicted from chemical shift of C6 are discussed with respect to structural organization.  相似文献

The theory of noise-alone-reference (NAR) power estimation is extended to the estimation of spatial covariance matrices. A NAR covariance estimator insensitive to signal presence is derived. The SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) loss incurred by using this estimator is independent of the input SNR and is less than that encountered with the maximum likelihood covariance estimator given that the same number of uncorrelated snapshots is available to both estimators. The analysis assumes first a deterministic signal. The results are extended and generalized to signals with unknown parameters or random signals. Hardware implementation of artificial neural networks has been attracting great attention recently. In this work, the analog VLSI implementation of artificial neural networks by using only transconductors is presented. The signal flow graph approach is used in synthesis. The neural flow graph is defined. Synthesis of various neural network configurations by means of neural flow graph is described. The approach presented in this work is technology independent. In this paper, a near-triangular buried-oxide partial silicon-on-insulator (TB-PSOI) lateral double-diffused MOS field-effect transistor is proposed. The electric field and electrostatic potential in this structure are modified by the gradual buried-oxide thickness increase. The modification includes the addition of a new peak in the electric field in comparison to that of the conventional PSOI. To assess the efficiency of the proposed structure, its breakdown voltage is compared with that of conventional PSOI using two-dimensional simulations. A comparative study is performed in terms of silicon-film and buried-oxide layer thicknesses, drift region and buried-oxide layer lengths, and drift region doping concentrations. The study shows that under the same drain current, the breakdown voltage of TB-PSOI is nearly two times higher than its PSOI counterpart (108% improvement). Simulation results show that the three-stepped oxide layer closely follows the TB-PSOI structure with a breakdown voltage improvement of 96% compared to that of the PSOI structure.  相似文献

In this paper, a generalized hydrodynamic model that includes four conservation equations for a general, position-dependent energy band structure and effective mass is presented. An analytical mobility model is extended to simulate two-valley semiconductor devices. A semiconductor device simulation package, DYNA, is introduced. Simulation results for both bulk materials and submicron-gate GaAs MESFETs show good agreement with experimental data and Monte Carlo device simulation results.  相似文献

Using the physical optics approximation, the radar image of a target can be constructed from a knowledge of the monostatic backscattered field or hologram for all frequencies and all aspects angles. The target image is the two-dimensional Fourier transform of the hologram. This is based on the same principle as conventional holography. In the near-field the image is computed by the coherent summation of back-projected range responses which are derived from complex impulse responses. Consequently, the image can be interpreted as a tomographic reconstruction. If the target is within the antenna beam at each radar position in the linear synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) geometry, then the algorithm for the coherent summation of impulse response derivatives (IRDs) can be applied. Experimental results for the near-field of a wheat field and a Peugeot 504 automobile are presented to verify the effectiveness of the method  相似文献
