Metal hydride (MH) hydrogen storage is used in both mobile and stationary applications. MH tanks can connect directly to high-pressure electrolyzers for on-demand charging, saving compression costs. To prevent high hydrogen pressure during charging, hydrogen generation needs to be controlled with consideration for unknown disturbances and time-varying dynamics. This work presents a robust control system to determine the appropriate mass flow rate of hydrogen, which the water electrolyzer should produce, to maintain the gaseous hydrogen pressure in the tank for the hydriding reaction. A control-oriented model is developed for MH hydrogen storage for control system design purposes. A proportional-integral (PI) and an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) feedback controllers are investigated, and their performance is compared. Simulation results show that both the PI and ADRC controllers can reject both noises from the output measurements and unknown disturbances associated with the heat exchanger. ADRC excels in eliminating disturbances produced by the input mass flow rate, maintaining the pressure of the tank at the charging pressure with little oscillations. Additionally, the parameters estimated by the ADRC's extended state observer was used to predict the state-of-charge (SOC) of the MH. 相似文献

This paper presents a level set topology optimization method for manipulation of stress and strain integral functions in a prescribed region (herein called sub-structure) of a linear elastic domain. The method is able to deviate or concentrate the flux of stress in the sub-structure by optimizing the shape and topologies of the boundaries outside of that region. A general integral objective function is proposed and its shape sensitivities are derived. For stress isolation or maximization, a von Mises stress integral is used and results show that stresses in the sub-structure can be drastically reduced. For strain control, a strain integral combined with a vector able to select the component of the strain is used. A combination of both can be used to minimize deformation of a prescribed direction. Numerical results show that strain can be efficiently minimized or maximized for a wide range of directions. The proposed methodology can be applied to stress isolation of highly sensitive non strain-based sensors, design for failure, maximization of mechanical strain and strain direction control for strain-based sensors and microdevices. 相似文献

Background
Obesity and diabetes mellitus (DM) are public health concerns in Mexico of top-level priority due to their high prevalence and their growth rate in recent decades. The accumulation of adipose tissue leads to an unbalanced release of pro-oxidant factors, which causes cellular damage and favors the development of comorbidities. Recent evidence suggests that oxidative stress also promotes the accumulation of adipose tissue and the development of insulin resistance. The objective of this study is to evaluate the association between usual intake of antioxidant nutrients, specifically vitamins A, C, E and magnesium with body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and serum glucose concentrations in a representative sample of Mexican adults.Methodology
We analyzed data on diet, BMI, WC and serum glucose from the Mexican National Health and Nutrition Survey 2012. Analysis included 20- to 65-year-old adults without a known diagnosis of DM (n?=?1573). Dietary information was obtained using the five-step multiple-pass method developed by the United States Department of Agriculture and adapted to the Mexican context. Nutrient usual intake distributions were estimated using the Iowa State University method, through the “Software for Intake Distribution Estimation” (PC-Side) v.1.02. Associations were analyzed using multivariate regression models.Results
Higher dietary magnesium intake was associated with lower markers of adiposity, so that an increase in 10?mg per 1000?kcal/day of magnesium was associated with an average decrease in BMI of 0.72% (95% CI: -1.36, ??0.08) and 0.49?cm (95% CI: -0.92, ??0.07) of WC. Additionally, in women with normal glucose concentrations, an increase in magnesium intake was associated with an average decrease in serum glucose by 0.59% (95% CI: -1.08, ??0.09).Conclusion
The results suggest that magnesium intake is associated with lower BMI, WC and serum glucose in Mexican population. However, more studies are required to elucidate the nature of this association.96.

Hybrid nanofibers containing CdSe/ZnS quantum dots have been produced by electrospinning of hybrid latexes to characterize the electro-optical behavior of this novel luminescent sensing material. The latexes are synthesized by seeded semi-batch emulsion polymerization yielding cross-linked core-shell PS/QDs/PMMA particles with efficiently encapsulated quantum dots guaranteeing a good optical stability. Addition of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) or polyethylene oxide (PEO) to the latexes is necessary to produce polymeric dispersions suitable for electrospinning manufacture of the nanometric fibers. The optimized polymeric dispersions are successfully electrospun obtaining fluorescent nanofibers in both cases. The hybrid nanofibers are sensitive to selected solvents (acetone, methanol and THF) and present positive response making them good candidates for the production of VOC sensors. 相似文献

Background
Silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) have numerous beneficial properties and are extensively used in cosmetics and food industries as anti-caking, densifying and hydrophobic agents. However, the increasing exposure levels experienced by the general population and the ability of SiNPs to penetrate cells and tissues have raised concerns about possible toxic effects of this material. Although SiNPs are known to affect the function of the airway epithelium, the molecular targets of these particles remain largely unknown. Given that SiNPs interact with the plasma membrane of epithelial cells we hypothesized that they may affect the function of Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 4 (TRPV4), a cation-permeable channel that regulates epithelial barrier function. The main aims of this study were to evaluate the effects of SiNPs on the activation of TRPV4 and to determine whether these alter the positive modulatory action of this channel on the ciliary beat frequency in airway epithelial cells.Results
Using fluorometric measurements of intracellular Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i) we found that SiNPs inhibit activation of TRPV4 by the synthetic agonist GSK1016790A in cultured human airway epithelial cells 16HBE and in primary cultured mouse tracheobronchial epithelial cells. Inhibition of TRPV4 by SiNPs was confirmed in intracellular Ca2+ imaging and whole-cell patch-clamp experiments performed in HEK293T cells over-expressing this channel. In addition to these effects, SiNPs were found to induce a significant increase in basal [Ca2+]i, but in a TRPV4-independent manner. SiNPs enhanced the activation of the capsaicin receptor TRPV1, demonstrating that these particles have a specific inhibitory action on TRPV4 activation. Finally, we found that SiNPs abrogate the increase in ciliary beat frequency induced by TRPV4 activation in mouse airway epithelial cells.Conclusions
Our results show that SiNPs inhibit TRPV4 activation, and that this effect may impair the positive modulatory action of the stimulation of this channel on the ciliary function in airway epithelial cells. These findings unveil the cation channel TRPV4 as a primary molecular target of SiNPs.99.
AbstractThe potential well-being benefits associated with the use of privately owned greenspaces in working environments have received little research attention. Given the growing evidence on the restorative benefits of urban greenspace, and the fact that many people spend most of their daily hours at the workplace, the question of whether physical access to green environments from workplaces can promote well-being is a pertinent one. Person–environment relationships in peri-urban business sites were investigated in a series of semi-structured ‘go-along’ interviews with employees at Scottish science parks. Workers described a range of well-being benefits from outdoor breaks and associated these with qualities of the environment. Semi-natural and informally landscaped areas were most strongly associated with restoration during the working day. The implications of the findings for the planning and design of business sites at the urban fringe are explored. 相似文献
