In this paper, a design-optimization method for a consequent-pole bearingless motor with a rather large air-gap length is presented. A rotor iron and permanent-magnet structure is proposed which enhances the suspension-force capability during startup. Magnetic saturation in the rotor-iron pole area is solved, and the stator iron is designed so that magnetic saturation is avoided. The design optimization is based on finite-element-method analysis. It is shown that startup is achieved from the touch-down condition in the experiments. 相似文献

Cereals like sorghum and millet are splendid sources of phenolics, dependent on their genetic makeup, and possess varied levels of flavonoids, flavanols, flavanones, anthocyanins, and condensed tannins. In this study, chemical composition and anthocyanin and tannin content of seven sorghum and two millet varieties were evaluated. American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC) respective methods were used for chemical composition. Anthocyanins were determined through HPLC/UV-Vis, while condensed tannins were determined spectrophotometrically. Four anthocyanins determined included apigeninidin, kuromanin, pelargonidin, and cyanidin. Among sorghum varieties, JS-263 had the highest apigeninidin (16 µg/g). Other anthocyanins were not found in appreciable quantities. None of the anthocyanins were detected in millet varieties. Condensed tannins were highest in sorghum variety PC-1 (179.76 mg/100g) and millet variety S. Bajra-2011 (172.75 mg/100g). Two varieties, one each from sorghum and millet, were selected for extraction of bran as a separate fraction. Brans were modified by size reduction and enzymatic treatment (xylanase and cellulase). Enzymatic treatment favorably affected the extraction of phenolic compounds like anthocyanins. Sorghum and millet flour- and bran-supplemented breads were also developed and evaluated for sensory acceptability. 相似文献

In the last decades, the therapeutic potential of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has acquired a primary role in the management of a broad spectrum of diseases including cancer, hematologic conditions, immune system dysregulations, and inborn errors of metabolism. The different types of HSCT, autologous and allogeneic, include risks of severe complications including acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) complications, hepatic veno-occlusive disease, lung injury, and infections. Despite being a dangerous procedure, it improved patient survival. Hence, its use was extended to treat autoimmune diseases, metabolic disorders, malignant infantile disorders, and hereditary skeletal dysplasia. HSCT is performed to restore or treat various congenital conditions in which immunologic functions are compromised, for instance, by chemo- and radiotherapy, and involves the administration of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in patients with depleted or dysfunctional bone marrow (BM). Since HSCs biology is tightly regulated by oxidative stress (OS), the control of reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels is important to maintain their self-renewal capacity. In quiescent HSCs, low ROS levels are essential for stemness maintenance; however, physiological ROS levels promote HSC proliferation and differentiation. High ROS levels are mainly involved in short-term repopulation, whereas low ROS levels are associated with long-term repopulating ability. In this review, we aim summarize the current state of knowledge about the role of β3-adrenoreceptors (β3-ARs) in regulating HSCs redox homeostasis. β3-ARs play a major role in regulating stromal cell differentiation, and the antagonist SR59230A promotes differentiation of different progenitor cells in hematopoietic tumors, suggesting that β3-ARs agonism and antagonism could be exploited for clinical benefit. 相似文献

Lactic acid bacteria and Listeria monocytogenes are psychotropic organisms that can grow and compete in food such as lightly preserved fishery products. Predictive microbiology is nowadays one of the leading tools to assess the behavior of bacteria in food and to predict food spoilage. Mathematical models can be used to predict the growth, inactivation or growth probability of bacteria. Currently, the efforts in microbial modeling are oriented towards extrapolation of results beyond experiments in order to predict the growth of interacting microorganisms and develop new food preservation processes. In the present work, a model combining both heterogeneous population and quasi‐chemical approaches to describe the different phases of the bacterial growth curve is presented. The model was applied to both monoculture and co‐culture cases of lactic acid bacteria, Carnobacterium maltaromaticum H‐17, and two Listeria monocytogenes strains in a raw fish extract. It is a highlight that our model includes novel inhibition reactions due to the accumulation of metabolites, and a general equation to take into account the effect of chemical compounds during the lag or physiological adaptation phase of the cells. Our results show that the proposed model can accurately describe the experimental data when the curve shape is a sigmoid, and when it presents a maximum. Besides, the parameters have biological interpretability since the model is mechanistically inspired. 相似文献

The inherent safety level (ISL) assessment of a heat exchanger network plays a vital role in developing its inherently safer design. New essential safety indices, i.e., inherent safety index for shell and tube heat exchanger (ISISTHE) and overall safety index for heat exchanger network (OSIHEN), are introduced to overcome this potential gap. A prototype tool is proposed by integrating these indices to a process design simulator via object linking and embedded automation. The heat exchanger network of an ammonia synthesis process and a steam reforming unit are presented as a case study. In the era of nutrition, much focus has been remunerated to functional and nutraceutical foodstuffs. The health endorsing potential of such provisions is attributed to affluent phytochemistry. These dynamic constituents have functional possessions that are imperative for cereal industry. The functional and nutraceutical significance of variety of foods is often accredited to their bioactive molecules. Numerous components have been considered but wheat straw and its diverse components are of prime consideration. In this comprehensive dissertation, efforts are directed to elaborate the functional and nutraceutical importance of wheat straw. Wheat straw is lignocellulosic materials including cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. It hold various bioactive compounds such as policosanols, phytosterols, phenolics, and triterpenoids, having enormous nutraceutical properties like anti-allergenic, anti-artherogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, antioxidant, anti-thrombotic, cardioprotective and vasodilatory effects, antiviral, and anticancer. These compounds are protecting against various ailments like hypercholesterolemia, intermittent claudication, benign prostatic hyperplasia and cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, wheat straw has demonstrated successfully, low cost, renewable, versatile, widely distributed, easily available source for the production of biogas, bioethanol, and biohydrogen in biorefineries to enhance the overall effectiveness of biomass consumption in protected and eco-friendly environment. Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is one of the most essential herbaceous plants that have been probed against various life sight related disorders owing to array of phytochemicals. It is important source of vitamin C, potassium, folic acid, and carotenoids, such as lycopene. Carotenoids are the pigments synthesized during fruit ripening and responsible for the final red color of the tomato. Consumption of tomato and tomato-based products contribute to the absorption of carotenoids and lycopenes in human serum. Lycopene is chemically acyclic carotene with 11 conjugated double bonds, normally in transconfiguration while isomerization occur in blood plasma for its better absorption. It has ability for adenosine deaminase inhibition that plays important role in the regression of tumor. Tomato also contain other active compounds, namely, neoxanthin, lutein, α-cryptoxanthin, α-carotene, β-carotene, cyclolycopene, and β-carotene 5, 6-epoxide. These components provide synergistic effect against various threats but still need further attention of the researchers. Both in vitro and in vivo studies have elucidated the potential of tomato against variety of metabolic syndromes. Latest research highlights the relationship between consuming tomato and its products with reduced risk of various maladies like obesity, hyperglycemic and hypercholesterolemic attributes, cardiovascular disorders, and cancer insurgences.
