AbstractThe transformation process of biomass through gasification may produce a large amount of solid particles of different granulometry. In order to avoid equipment damage, these particles must be separated from the producer gas before it is utilized in other processes. This separation can be performed through a cyclone separator. This equipment is part of the circulating fluidized bed gasifier and is responsible for particulate separation and producer gas partial cleanup. Cyclone dimensioning requires careful attention and must be done according to the conditions this device is going to be subject. Thus, this work aims to validate and analyze a dimensioning methodology and apply it to a gasifier. Three cyclone geometries were considered (Stairmand, Swift and Lapple) and they were compared in terms of collection efficiency and pressure drop. A parameter sensibility study was performed. Variations of dimension, efficiency and pressure drop for a producer gas volumetric flow range were tested. It was found that an increase of the volumetric flow rate provoked the rise of separation efficiency and pressure drop. From the tested geometries, Swift presented the highest collection efficiency and pressure drop. 相似文献

It is largely assumed that the teleost retina shows continuous and active proliferative and neurogenic activity throughout life. However, when delving into the teleost literature, one finds that assumptions about a highly active and continuous proliferation in the adult retina are based on studies in which proliferation was not quantified in a comparative way at the different life stages or was mainly studied in juveniles/young adults. Here, we performed a systematic and comparative study of the constitutive proliferative activity of the retina from early developing (2 days post-fertilisation) to aged (up to 3–4 years post-fertilisation) zebrafish. The mitotic activity and cell cycle progression were analysed by using immunofluorescence against pH3 and PCNA, respectively. We observed a decline in the cell proliferation in the retina with ageing despite the occurrence of a wave of secondary proliferation during sexual maturation. During this wave of secondary proliferation, the distribution of proliferating and mitotic cells changes from the inner to the outer nuclear layer in the central retina. Importantly, in aged zebrafish, there is a virtual disappearance of mitotic activity. Our results showing a decline in the proliferative activity of the zebrafish retina with ageing are of crucial importance since it is generally assumed that the fish retina has continuous proliferative activity throughout life. 相似文献

The 2019 novel coronavirus, known as severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) or coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), is causing a global pandemic. The virus primarily affects the upper and lower respiratory tracts and raises the risk of a variety of non-pulmonary consequences, the most severe and possibly fatal of which are cardiovascular problems. Data show that almost one-third of the patients with a moderate or severe form of COVID-19 had preexisting cardiovascular comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, hypertension, heart failure, or coronary artery disease. SARS-CoV2 causes hyper inflammation, hypoxia, apoptosis, and a renin–angiotensin system imbalance in a variety of cell types, primarily endothelial cells. Profound endothelial dysfunction associated with COVID-19 can be the cause of impaired organ perfusion that may generate acute myocardial injury, renal failure, and a procoagulant state resulting in thromboembolic events. We discuss the most recent results on the involvement of endothelial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of COVID-19 in patients with cardiometabolic diseases in this review. We also provide insights on treatments that may reduce the severity of this viral infection. 相似文献

This study shows the influence of the Pt percentage in Pt catalysts (Pt/C) on their application in Direct Glycerol Fuel Cells (DGFC). Catalysts with 20, 30, 40 and 60% Pt were prepared by formic acid reduction. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) confirmed the formation of Pt fcc nanocrystals (with average sizes between 3 and 4 nm). Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) corroborated the Pt loadings and the Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) images show a homogeneous distribution of the Pt nanoparticles, with larger particles at higher Pt percentages. Electrochemical measurements reveal that higher Pt percentages promote the activity of the glycerol electroxidation reaction, resulting in lower onset potentials, higher current densities and reduced poisoning of the Pt surface. Single cell tests confirm these results, with greater maximum power density at higher Pt percentages, although the glycerol crossover effect starts to become significant in the 60% Pt/C catalyst, owing to the reduced thickness of this catalytic layer. A final product selectivity analysis indicates that tartronate is the preferential glycerol electroxidation product, along with glycerate and oxalate in lower proportions, with minor amounts of glycolate and mesoxalate. In general, a thicker catalytic layer is associated with the formation of more oxidized products. 相似文献

A method of interpolation of the boundary variables that uses spline functions associated with singular elements is presented. This method can be used in boundary element method analysis of 2‐D problems that have points where the boundary variables present singular behaviour. Singular‐ended splines based on cubic splines and Overhauser splines are developed. The former provides C2‐continuity and the latter C1‐continuity across element edges. The potentialities of the methodology are demonstrated analysing the dynamic response of a 2‐D rigid footing interacting with a half‐space. It is shown that, for a given number of elements at the soil–foundation interface, the singular‐ended spline interpolation increases substantially the displacement convergence rate and delivers smoother traction distributions. RASGRP2 encodes the calcium and diacylglycerol (DAG)-regulated guanine nucleotide exchange factor I (CalDAG-GEFI) identified as a Rap1-activating molecule. Pathogenic variants previously identified in RASGRP2 allowed the characterization of CalDAG-GEFI deficiency as a non-syndromic, autosomal recessive platelet function disease. We report on the clinical manifestations and laboratory features of a Portuguese family with a likely pathogenic variant in RASGRP2 (c.999G>C leading to a p.Lys333Asn change in the CDC25 catalytic domain of CalDAG-GEFI) and discuss the contribution of this variant to the disease manifestations. Based on the study of this family with one homozygous patient and five heterozygous carriers and on a critical analysis of the literature, we challenge previous knowledge that CalDAG-GEFI deficiency only manifests in homozygous patients. Our data suggest that at least for the RASGRP2 variant reported herein, there is a phenotypic expression, albeit milder, in heterozygous carriers. 相似文献
