The control of optical and transport properties of semiconductor heterostructures is crucial for engineering new nanoscale photonic and electrical devices with diverse functions. Core–shell nanowires are evident examples of how tailoring the structure, i.e., the shell layer, plays a key role in the device performance. However, III–V semiconductors bandgap tuning has not yet been fully explored in nanowires. Here, a novel InAs/AlSb core–shell nanowire heterostructure is reported grown by molecular beam epitaxy and its application for room temperature infrared photodetection. The core–shell nanowires are dislocation‐free with small chemical intermixing at the interfaces. They also exhibit remarkable radiative emission efficiency, which is attributed to efficient surface passivation and quantum confinement induced by the shell. A high‐performance core–shell nanowire phototransistor is also demonstrated with negative photoresponse. In comparison with simple InAs nanowire phototransistor, the core–shell nanowire phototransistor has a dark current two orders of magnitude smaller and a sixfold improvement in photocurrent signal‐to‐noise ratio. The main factors for the improved photodetector performance are the surface passivation, the oxide in the AlSb shell and the type‐II bandgap alignment. Monitoring speech quality in Voice over IP (VoIP) networks is important to ensure a minimal acceptable level of speech quality for IP calls running through a managed network. Information such as packet loss, codec type, jitter, end‐to‐end delay and overall speech quality enables the network manager to verify and accurately tune parameters in order to adjust network problems. The present article proposes the deployment of a monitoring architecture that collects, stores and displays speech quality information about concluded voice calls. This architecture is based on our proposed MIB (Management Information Base) VOIPQOS, deployed for speech quality monitoring purposes. Currently, the architecture is totally implemented, but under adjustment and validation tests. In the future, the VOIPQOS MIB can be expanded to automatically analyze collected data and control VoIP clients and network parameters for tuning the overall speech quality of ongoing calls. The paper reports all-organic strain and stress sensitive films that use electrical monitoring approach. The films were prepared by self-metallizing polycarbonate films with the single component molecular conductor [Au(α-tpdt)2]0 (tpdt = 2,3-thiophenedithiolate). It was shown that [Au(α-tpdt)2]0 by its nature is able to form metallic solid material with low crystallinity. Electromechanical tests demonstrated that the developed films are strain-resistive materials with advanced elastic properties: their electrical resistance varies linearly with uniaxial elongation up to relative strain being of 1.0% that is about five times larger than that for conventional metals. The gauge factor of the films is 4.4 and stress sensitivity is 30 Ω/bar. The processing characteristics of polycarbonate films, self-metalized with a metallic [Au(α-tpdt)2]0-based layer, make them potentially useful for engineering flexible, lightweight, strain and pressure sensors. This paper introduces a multi-agent behavioral-based optimization algorithm for system level radio design. Making multi-standard
wireless communication receivers that meet their specs while keeping the requirements of the individual blocks as relaxed
as possible is the goal of this algorithm. In order to achieve this goal a “divide and conquer” approach is proposed. Different
agents focus on different objectives that are pursued in parallel. Agents adopt different behaviors depending on the status
of the environment and their interaction with other agents. Agents are cooperative by default as they try to meet their spec
without making changes that affect other agents. However, more aggressive behaviors that lead to global changes can be adopted
when needed. The interaction between these simple entities yields an emergent behavior able to deal smoothly with the complexity

In this paper, several algorithms for compressing the feedback of channel quality information are presented and analyzed.
These algorithms are developed for a proposed adaptive modulation scheme for future multi-carrier 4G mobile systems. These
strategies compress the feedback data and, used together with opportunistic scheduling, drastically reduce the feedback data
rate. Thus the adaptive modulation schemes become more suitable and efficient to be implemented in future mobile systems,
increasing data throughput and overall system performance.

In this paper, a new control strategy that allows zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) operation of power converters using piezoelectric transformers (PTs) is proposed. The control circuit operates in a closed loop by measuring the phase between the PTs resonant current and the switching pattern and adjusting the switching frequency to the optimum value so that ZVS operation is assured. An innovative nonlinear regulator based on an analog multiplexer is presented. The regulator automatically swaps the signs of the sensed signal and the reference signal to allow generation of the adequate control action. A laboratory prototype for a 6 W resonant inverter was tested; obtained experimental results are also shown. 相似文献

Ultranarrowband organic photodiodes (OPDs) are demonstrated for thin film solid state materials composed of tightly packed dipolar merocyanine dyes. For these dyes the packing arrangement can be controlled by the bulkiness of the donor substituent, leading to either strong H‐ or strong J‐type exciton coupling in the interesting blue (H‐aggregate) and NIR (J‐aggregate) spectral ranges. Both bands are shown to arise from one single exciton band according to fluorescence measurements and are not just a mere consequence of different polymorphs within the same thin film. By fabrication of organic thin‐film transistors, these dyes are demonstrated to exhibit hole transport behavior in spin‐coated thin films. Moreover, when used as organic photodiodes in planar heterojunctions with C60 fullerene, they show wavelength‐selective photocurrents in the solid state with maximum external quantum efficiencies of up to 11% and ultranarrow bandwidths down to 30 nm. Thereby, narrowing the linewidths of optoelectronic functional materials by exciton coupling provides a powerful approach to produce ultranarrowband organic photodiodes. 相似文献

Recently, a new multifunctional, bio‐inorganic nanocomposite membrane with the ability to self‐regulate the release of insulin in response to blood glucose (BG) levels was reported. Herein, the application of this material as part of a small, implantable, closed‐loop insulin delivery device designed to continuously monitor BG concentrations and regulate insulin release is proposed. The insulin delivery device consists of a nanocomposite glucose‐responsive plug covalently bound to an insulin reservoir made of surface‐modified silicone. The plug is prepared with crosslinked bovine serum albumin (BSA) and enzymes (glucose oxidase (GOx) and catalase (CAT)), pH‐responsive hydrogel nanoparticles, and multifunctional MnO2 nanoparticles. The plug functions both as a glucose sensor and controlled delivery unit to release higher rates of insulin from the reservoir in response to hyperglycemic BG levels and basal insulin rates at normal BG concentration. The surfaces of the device are modified by silanization followed by PEGylation to ensure its safety and biocompatibility and the stability of encased insulin. Our results show that insulin release can be modulated in vitro in response to glucose concentrations. In vivo experiments show that the glycemia of diabetic rats can be controlled with implantation of the prototype device. The glucose‐responsiveness of the device is also demonstrated by rapid drop in BG level after challenging diabetic rats with bolus injection of glucose solution. In addition, it is demonstrated that surface PEGylation of the device is necessary for reducing the immune response of the host to the implanted foreign object and maintaining insulin stability and bioactivity. With this molecular architecture and the bio‐inorganic nanocomposite plug, the device has the ability to maintain normal BG levels in diabetic rats. 相似文献

N,N′‐1H,1H‐perfluorobutyl dicyanoperylenecarboxydiimide (PDIF‐CN2), a soluble and air stable n‐type molecule, undergoes significant reorganization upon thermal annealing after solution deposition on several substrates with different surface energies. Interestingly, this system exhibits an exceptional edge‐on orientation regardless of the substrate chemistry. This preferential orientation is rationalized in terms of strong intermolecular interactions between the PDIF‐CN2 molecules. The presence of a pronounced π–π stacking is confirmed by combining near‐edge X‐ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS), dynamic scanning force microscopy (SFM) and surface energy measurements. The remarkable charge carrier mobility measured in field‐effect transistors, using both bottom‐ and top‐contact (bottom‐gate) configurations, underlines the importance of strong intermolecular interactions for the realization of high performing devices. 相似文献

Light detection technologies are of interest due to their applications in energy conversion and optical communications. Single-crystal organic semiconductors, such as rubrene, present high detectivities and charge carrier mobility, making them attractive for light-sensing applications. Growth of high crystallinity organic crystals is achieved using vapor processes, forming crystals of arbitrary shapes and orientations and requiring posterior patterning processes. However, patterning the organic semiconductors using industry-standard microfabrication techniques is not straightforward, as these often cause irreversible damage to the crystals. Here the fabrication of patterned micrometric rubrene photosensors is demonstrated through a combination of photolithography and Reactive Ion Etching steps. Protective layers during microfabrication minimize degradation of optoelectronic properties of the organic single crystals during fabrication. Crystals undergoing the patterning process presented a survival rate of 39%. Photoresponse values of up to 41 mA W−1 are obtained under illumination at 500 nm. This opens a route for the industrial-scale fabrication process of high-performance optoelectronic devices based on organic crystals semiconductors. 相似文献
