An experimental setup, based on current/voltage conversion through transimpedance amplifiers (TAs), has been implemented for the direct full low-frequency noise (LFN) characterization of Si/SiGe heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs) in terms of base and collector short-circuit current noise sources. This setup performs a full characterization, as it measures simultaneously the two noise current sources and their correlation, thanks to an original technique based on the specific properties of a specially designed buffer amplifier using a low-noise common-base bipolar transistor (CB BJT). By means of translation formulae, the obtained measurements are compared with those carried out with a multi-impedance technique. They show a good agreement both for the noise sources spectral densities and for their correlation. The TA-based setup provides enhanced capabilities in terms of measurement speed and remote control potentialities  相似文献

PURPOSE: To determine the timing of spontaneous psychogenic nonepileptic events (PNEE) during video-EEG telemetry (VEEG), and the need to use induction protocols (IP). METHODS: We studied 100 consecutive patients (75 females, 25 males) admitted to our inpatient VEEG unit from July 1994 to June 1996 for differential diagnosis of paroxysmal events. We recorded the time to the first diagnostic spontaneous event, identified by the patient or a family member as typical. Episodes were classified as PNEE, physiologic nonepileptic events (PhysNEE), and epileptic seizures (ES). RESULTS: The mean duration of VEEG was 74+/-SD 54.1 h. In 82 patients, a diagnostic event occurred spontaneously. The first event was an ES in 22 patients, a PNEE in 53, and a PhysNEE in 7. The time to first diagnostic event was significantly shorter for PNEE than for ES [15.0+/-SD 16.3 h (range 5 min to 58 h) vs. 28.6+/-SD 34.0 h (range 1-110 h) F=15.621, p < 0.0001]. In the first 24 h, 77.4% of the patients with PNEE had an event. By 48 h, all but 2 (96.2%) had had diagnostic events. After the first 58 h of monitoring, all patients with PNEE experienced a spontaneous diagnostic event. CONCLUSION: Spontaneous events can be expected to occur within 48 h in most patients with PNEE. Therefore, if IP are to be used as a diagnostic tool, we suggest that they be withheld during the initial 48 h of VEEG monitoring.  相似文献

We report the first proven outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) occurring in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal. During September and October 1995, we treated 15 patients with meningo-encephalitis. All of the patients were Nepalese, all but one lived in the Kathmandu Valley, and their overall mortality was 53%. Anti-JE virus (JEV) IgM in the cerebrospinal fluid was found in the two cases for whom it was tested. The two tested patients were similar to the other patients in clinical presentation and in home location. We recommend immunization against JEV for those traveling to Kathmandu during the months of August to October.  相似文献

A simple spectrophotometric assay for the determination of cefepime and L-arginine in injections is described. Since zero-order spectra showed considerable overlap, second-derivative spectrophotometry was used to enhance the spectral details. A linear relationship between second-derivative amplitude and concentration of each compound was found. Beer's law was obeyed up to 50 and 22 micrograms ml-1 of cefepime and arginine, respectively, in the second-derivative mode. Detection limits were 0.31 and 0.58 micrograms ml-1 for cefepime and arginine, respectively. The method, which is rapid, simple and does not require any separation step, has been successfully applied to the assay of commercial injections containing cefepime and arginine.  相似文献

The molecular mechanisms regulating the spectacular cytodifferentiation observed during spermiogenesis are poorly understood. We have recently identified a murine testis-specific serine kinase (tssk) 1, constituting a novel subfamily of serine/threonine kinases. Using low stringency screening we have isolated and molecularly characterized a second closely related family member, tssk 2, which is probably the orthologue of the human DGS-G gene. Expression of tssk 1 and tssk 2 was limited to the testis of sexually mature males. Immunohistochemical staining localized both kinases to the cytoplasm of late spermatids and to structures resembling residual bodies. tssk 1 and tssk 2 were absent in released sperms in the lumen of the seminiferous tubules and the epididymis, demonstrating a tight window of expression restricted to the last stages of spermatid maturation. In vitro kinase assays of immunoprecipitates containing either tssk 1 or tssk 2 revealed no autophosphorylation of the kinases, however, they led to serine phosphorylation of a coprecipitating protein of approximately 65 kD. A search for interacting proteins using the yeast two-hybrid system with tssk 1 and tssk 2 cDNA as baits and a prey cDNA library from mouse testis, led to the isolation of a novel cDNA, interacting specifically with both tssk 1 and tssk 2, and encoding the coprecipitated 65-kD protein phosphorylated by both kinases. Interestingly, expression of the interacting clone was also testis specific and paralleled the developmental expression observed for the kinases themselves. These results represent the first demonstration of the involvement of a distinct kinase family, the tssk serine/threonine kinases, together with a substrate in the cytodifferentiation of late spermatids to sperms.  相似文献

A general SIMNET simulation model is developed for estimating system reliability. The input data to the model is comprised of the minimal cut sets of the block diagram representing the system. Hands experience much greater wear and tear during normal daily routines compared with most other parts of the body, and thereby demand specific needs from cosmetics targeted at hand care. Keratin proteins are the major structural component of the outer layers of the skin. In this work a novel keratin fraction from wool, which has high cystine content present in the S-sulphonated form, has been developed to target hand care applications. In vivo long-term studies were performed to evaluate the water-holding capacity and elasticity of hand skin following topical application of keratins. Moreover, protection of healthy skin against detergent-induced dermatitis was evaluated after topical application of the keratin-active formulation. Significant results in the measured biophysical parameters were found, which indicated an improvement in the skin's water-holding capacity, hydration, and elasticity for volunteers with dry skin as a result of the keratin peptide treatment. Results also indicated that the keratin peptide treatment can prevent some of the damaging effects associated with surfactant exposure.  相似文献

Monodisperse, luminescent core-shell structured inorganic nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel technology. They exhibit an amorphous SiO2 core and a crystalline luminescent shell. Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ and Ca10(PO4)6OH:Eu3+ shell materials are investigated. The influence of the doping concentration on optical and structural properties was studied. The resulting nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, transmission electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, and photoluminescence spectroscopy.  相似文献
