This paper studies optical solitons and its perturbations that is governed by the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger's equation with non-Kerr law nonlinearities. The quasi-stationarity is applied, for the first time, to the non-Kerr law nonlinearity and an approximate solution is obtained. A few special cases of the non-Kerr law nonlinearities are considered. The primary objective of this work is to characterize and compare the dynamic mechanical behavior of asphalt concrete mixes with styrene butadiene styrene (SBS) polymer and crumb rubber modified asphalt binders with the behavior of mixes with unmodified viscosity grade asphalt binders. Asphalt binders are characterized for their physical and rheological properties. Simple performance tests like dynamic modulus, dynamic and static creep tests are carried out at varying temperatures and time. Dynamic modulus master curves constructed using numerical optimization technique is used to explain the time and temperature dependency of modified and unmodified asphalt binder mixes. Creep parameters estimated through regression analysis explained the permanent deformation characteristics of asphalt concrete mixes. From the dynamic mechanical characterization studies, it is found that asphalt concrete mixes with SBS polymer modified asphalt binder showed significantly higher values of dynamic modulus and reduced rate of deformation at higher temperatures when compared to asphalt concrete mixes with crumb rubber and unmodified asphalt binders. From the concept of energy dissipation, it is found that SBS polymer modification substantially reduces the energy loss at higher temperatures. Multi-factorial analysis of variance carried out using generalized liner model showed that temperature, frequency and asphalt binder type significant influences the mechanical response of asphalt concrete mixes. The mechanical response of SBS polymer modified asphalt binders are significantly correlated with the rutting resistance of asphalt concrete mixes. 相似文献

The aim of the present numerical study is to analyze the effect of cooler location and aspect ratio and position of the hot solid body inside the enclosure on three-dimensional natural convection flow in a cubical enclosure. The cooler and heater positions and aspect ratio of the heater in a cavity are examined under different combinations of partially cooling vertical sidewalls and, hot solid body in the cubical cavity. That is, (i) different cooler locations with a fixed size of the hot solid body, and, (ii) centrally located hot solid body with different aspect ratio. The three-dimensional convective flow and thermal arrangements in the enclosure are analyzed using the distribution of streamlines, isosurfaces, and Nusselt number. It is found that the cooler location and aspect ratio of hot solid body play a key role on convective cooling and energy transport inside the enclosure. The unit aspect ratio of hot solid body provides higher energy transport inside the enclosure for all cooler positions. 相似文献

This paper proposes a combined feed-forward and selective harmonic compensation-based control scheme for a grid-connected doubly fed induction generator Wind Turbine system using a nine-switch converter (NSC) to improve the performance during grid faults and unbalanced non-linear loading. This is achieved through desired line voltage compensation and/or selective harmonic reduction technique. The two outputs of NSC are controlled such that one functions as a series grid-side converter to inject appropriate voltage in series with stator terminals to maintain the desired stator voltage profile, while the other one functions as a parallel grid-side converter to regulate the DC-link voltage to its reference value irrespective of the direction of flow of rotor power with the conventional rotor side converter. Simulation has been carried out in a MATLAB/Simulink environment. The results show that the proposed scheme ensures the feasibility of improving the Fault Ride Through capability and reducing the undesirable effects of the unbalanced, harmonic content in grid voltage at the Point of Common Coupling. 相似文献

A combined experimental and numerical study has been conducted to determine the stagnation point heat transfer for laminar methane/air flame impinging on a flat surface. Effects of Reynolds number, equivalence ratio and burner diameter on stagnation point heat flux were examined experimentally at different separation heights. Maximum stagnation point heat flux was obtained when the flat surface was closest to the tip of the inner premixed reaction zone. Heat flux decreased along the axial direction when the separation distance was further increased from the tip of inner reaction zone. There was a secondary rise in heat flux at the stagnation point at larger separation distances. Correlations were developed for stagnation point Nusselt number. Numerical simulations were carried out using a commercial CFD code (FLUENT) for laminar methane/air flame impinging on a flat surface for various separation distances. Results were compared with those found experimentally. The reason for conducting the simulations was to (a) gain more insight into how the presence of the plate affects the flame and the flow and temperature fields and (b) to explain the reason for high heat flux when the tip of the inner reaction zone was very close to the stagnation point. 相似文献

Melanoma differentiation associated gene-7/interleukin-24 (MDA-7/IL-24), a secreted protein of the IL-10 family, was first identified more than two decades ago as a novel gene differentially expressed in terminally differentiating human metastatic melanoma cells. MDA-7/IL-24 functions as a potent tumor suppressor exerting a diverse array of functions including the inhibition of tumor growth, invasion, angiogenesis, and metastasis, and induction of potent “bystander” antitumor activity and synergy with conventional cancer therapeutics. MDA-7/IL-24 induces cancer-specific cell death through apoptosis or toxic autophagy, which was initially established in vitro and in preclinical animal models in vivo and later in a Phase I clinical trial in patients with advanced cancers. This review summarizes the history and our current understanding of the molecular/biological mechanisms of MDA-7/IL-24 action rendering it a potent cancer suppressor. 相似文献

Thermal design of transportation cask for shipping radioactive waste needs strict compliance with the guidelines of the regulatory bodies. Lead shielding is usually provided in these casks for arresting gamma rays and reducing hazardous emissions to the environment below permissible limits. During transportation, accidental fire may break out and cause melting of lead for a prescribed duration. The present analysis reports, for the first time, a comprehensive CFD analysis of the thermal behaviour of melting of lead under high Rayleigh number convection during the fire test. The study reveals a substantial influence of natural convection on the thermal state and melting behaviour of lead which may have a great bearing on the safety and security of public during transportation of cask. 相似文献
