A method for identifying and measuring team skills, specifying team training objectives and the objective assessment of team performance is described. First, a theoretical model of team performance is outlined and then a version of Hierarchical Task Analysis specially adapted to analysing team tasks is described. The two are then combined into an event-related measurement scheme, which provides a set of objective criteria by which key team skills can be assessed. The method is illustrated by an example from a basic Anti-Submarine Warfare training exercise which forms part of the Principal Warfare Officer's course at the Royal Naval School of Maritime Operations. The potential of the method is discussed, including the opportunities it may provide for the standardization of team performance assessment and in the use of new technology in the partial automation of shore-based and ship-board team training. 相似文献

Iron oxide nanoparticles for biomedical applications in the size range of 15–130 nm were prepared by either oxidative hydrolysis of ferrous sulfate with KOH or precipitation from ferrous/ferric chloride solutions. The magnetite particle size is controlled by variation of pH and temperature. The synthesized magnetite nanoparticles are partially oxidized as signaled by ferrous concentrations of below 24 wt% Fe2+ and lattice parameters of a0 ≤ 8.39 Å which are smaller compared to 8.39 Å for stoichiometric magnetite. The extend of oxidation increases with decreasing particle size. Heating at 150–350 °C topotactically transforms the magnetite nanoparticles into stoichiometric tetragonal maghemite (ferrous ion concentration cFe2+=0 and a0 = 8.34 Å) without significant particle growth. The magnetite–maghemite transformation is studied with thermal analysis, XRD and IR spectroscopy. The saturation magnetizations of the magnetite and maghemite particles decrease with decreasing particle size. The variation of Ms with particle size is interpreted using a magnetic core–shell particle model. Magnetite particles with d ≤ 16 nm show superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature whereas particles with diameter >16 nm display hysteresis behavior. Multiple drugs are used to treat various indications as well as pesticides that are ingested unintentionally and enter the bloodstream. The residence time or bioavailability of these substances in circulation depends on several mechanisms, such as drug–drug interaction (DDI), drug–pesticide interaction, metabolizing enzymes and the hepatic and renal transport systems, involved in the elimination of the compounds from the body. One of these transporters is the Organic Cation Transporter 2 (OCT2) member of the solute carrier (SLC22) transporter family. OCT2 is highly expressed in the proximal tubule epithelial cells in human and mouse kidney, where it mediates the uptake of endogenous organic cations as well as numerous drugs and xenobiotics, and contributes to the first step of renal clearance. In this study, we examined OCT2 on two subjects: First, the transferability of data from mouse to human, since mice are initially examined in the development of new drugs to assess the renal excretion of organic cations. Second, to what extent the choice of substrate affects the properties of an inhibitor. For this purpose, the functional properties of hOCT2 and mOct2 were validated under the same experimental conditions with the known substrates metformin and 1-Methyl-4-phenylpyridinium iodide (MPP). While hOCT2 and mOct2 showed very low affinities for metformin with Km values of 3.9 mM and 3.5 mM, the affinity of hOCT2 and mOct2 for MPP (62 and 40 µM) was 64- and 89-fold higher, respectively. For our positive control inhibitor decynium22, we determined the following IC50 values for hOCT2 and mOct2: 2.2 and 2.6 µM for metformin uptake, and 16 and 6.9 µM for MPP uptake. A correlation analysis of the inhibitory effects of 13 drugs and 9 pesticides on hOCT2- and mOct2-mediated transport of metformin showed a correlation coefficient R2 of 0.88, indicating good interspecies correlation. Nevertheless, the bioenhancer elacridar and the fungicide imazalil showed species-dependent inhibitory potentials. Concentration-dependent inhibition of hOCT2- and mOct2-mediated metformin uptake by elacridar showed IC50 values of 20 µM and 1.9 µM and by imazalil 4.7 µM and 0.58 µM, respectively. In conclusion, although our data show comparable species-independent interactions for most compounds, there can be large species–specific differences in the interactions of individual compounds, which should be considered when extrapolating data from mice to humans. Furthermore, a comparison of the inhibitory potential of elacridar and imazalil on metformin uptake with that on MPP uptake reveals substrate-dependent differences in hOCT2 and mOct2 for both inhibitors. The effects of a uniform magnetic field on the early stages of Ag, Fe and CoFe alloys electrocrystallisation have been investigated. It was found for Fe and CoFe alloys, irrespective of the applied parameters, that early stages of the layer growth can be characterised by a nucleation and 3D diffusion controlled growth. The influence of the deposition parameters on the nucleation behaviour was studied on the basis of the Sharifker-Mostany (SM) model. A modification to the existing model has been proposed in order to model alloy systems. It is reported that a magnetic field superposed parallel to the electrode surface has a significant influence on the early stages of Fe and CoFe alloys growth. The growth of the nuclei is enhanced by the Lorentz-force-driven convection, while the nucleation processes remain unaffected. The hydrodynamic origin of these phenomena is confirmed by independent rotating disk electrode (RDE) investigations. Moreover, the proposed mechanism of a magnetic field influence on the 3D diffusion controlled growth is supported by a microscopic investigation of Ag deposits. It was found that Ag deposits obtained without a magnetic field superposition are characterised by a relatively large number of small 3D growth centres, whereas the deposits obtained in a field show fewer 3D centres but their size is greatly increased. 相似文献

Timely and detailed information on the situation in conflict areas is essential to monitor the impact of conflicts on civilians and to document human rights issues, such as large scale displacement. Remote sensing provides valuable means for conflict monitoring, especially in areas where the ground-based documentation of violence is hampered, e.g. by the limited access to or persistent insecurity of conflict zones. The manual analysis of remote-sensing data is time consuming and labour intensive, but automatic methods can increase the efficiency of corresponding workflows, if the required user interference is minimized. In this study, the use of object-based change analysis for the automatic and selective detection of destructed dwellings in bi-temporal images is explored in test areas in Darfur. The presented approach automatically determines areas of interest (settlements), and detects changes in those areas by analysis of two change features (change of edge intensity and spectral change). It applies automatically defined local reference values and thresholds of these change features to reduce the required user interference. In addition, the extended feature space in the object-based approach (including, e.g. shape, size, and relational features in addition to spectral properties) is used to distinguish destructed dwellings from other, similarly changed objects. The developed method was applied to two study areas using images from three different sensors (GeoEye-1, WorldView-2, and QuickBird) without adaptation of the thresholds or rule sets. This resulted in a producer’s accuracy of 75.4% in the first and 81.2% in the second study area. The achieved user’s accuracy was 73.3% in study area 1 and 77.2% in study area 2. The evaluation of the results shows that the automatic calculation of local reference values and thresholds for the change detection can increase robustness when the proposed method is applied on study areas with different image properties. It also demonstrates the advantages as well as the specific constraints of using object- and context-specific features in this use case for the extraction of a certain structure type on a high level of detail. 相似文献
